I'm sorry this story isn't very interesting or as beautiful as you were maybe imagining it would be. During that first year, we both saw other people between dating and not dating and we were bad at communicating and I think we really loved each other even from the very beginning, but it was filled with drama, as many teenage romances are. (we were nineteen...so still teenagers...god that's amazing to think of now...we were NINETEEN!)

Probably most of all of us who still need to take a more realistic look on those interesting and useful parts of ourselves. Selfacceptance makes us more approachable. You are more lovable than you think and I know you already think that that is a lie. Probably. Also, I still struggle with this, but I found out recently I am more interesting, useful and lovable than I thought myself to be. I'm pretty great. Glad I came for the story and stayed; P.s I wish you love and otherwise, I wish you peace.❤

Hank and Katherine are basically the plot of every cheesy fanfiction. Dorms: check. Sleepovers without sex: check. Proximity taking over: check. On again off again: check. Finally settling down into a seemingly healthy and well balanced relationship: check.

This video makes me so happy. Because yeah, it's not the most interesting "How I Met My Wife" story ever. It's messy and normal and that gives me hope. Because big swept off your feet and I knew it was meant to be moments don't happen in real life. But real love happens all the time. I was friends with my fiancé for three years before he asked me out. And then I turned him down because I had just gone on a date with this other guy the week before. And then I was with other guy for almost a year, and when we broke up my fiancé didn't want to be a rebound guy so we were just friends for almost another year until he asked me out *again* and I said yes. And then on our first date I had a panic attack and cried in the bathroom for three hours. And told him I wasn't ready for a commitment yet. And ran away (literally). But then I got on the bus to go home and realised I was making a mistake, and called him back to ask for a make-up first date. And now we've been together for four years and are getting married.

It's always nice to see people acknowledge that there are serious, long-term, loving relationships that begin as casual hookups. I've seen this plenty of times among my friends/in my demographic generally, but the cultural narrative always seems to be that serious romance and casual hooking up are separate, mutually exclusive things. It's good to be reminded that this isn't true.

This is the second time I have watched this video. In fact, I accidentally clicked on it this time. I love this story for its realness and simplicity. I think most relationships begin in similar ways. Proximity over a decent length of time is critical. A person needs to have that time and that number of interactions to thoughtfully consider whether they and the other person can and will do the work that a long-term relationship requires. Life is not film.

I have never married but I was privileged to take the role of best man at my sister's wedding. I watched their courtship and was struck by the simplicity of it. It was two people meeting by accident and discovering each other. Their union was inspirational to me because it seemed tranquil and fulfilling. They kept their promises to one another and after eight years they tied the knot. They are an example of how friends can be much more. A concept that I hope more would aspire to. Like you and your wife, this is not a boring story but a sincere and fulfilling one.

No relationship is ever "perfect" but it is perfect for the two people who are in the relationship. Seeing this and seeing how you two are fairly recently brings a smile to my face.

I like this story because it's real. It's not made up or fake magical. It's beautiful.

You two are still FREAKING awesome. It's a totally realistic and rather cool story, even if it's not "beautiful" or "interesting". I'm sure to you and her, it had it's beautiful and interesting moments, and that's all that matters!! :D
