No I don’t think so .I was so mad because we only hear Teds side of the story . And he is literally telling this story to basically ease into being with robin to his kids. I don’t know man I think they were for each other. There fights when they were friends were just more like play fights. They did somethings wrong but Ioved them together Barney really cared about her and even did much more than Ted ever did for Robin. The ending sucked

It was degrading to focus the entire last season on Robin and Barney's wedding to end it in 3 seconds after! If they really wanted Robin to be career focused, they should have left her be and had the wedding with someone else!

While I can get on board with Barney and Nora, in this case Barney had himself to blame for screwing that up, pun intended. And as for Ted and Robin, the series showed that they most certainly were perfect for one another but just not at the right place or time in their lives to be together early on. While they were together in season 2 though, they shared a beautiful relationship and brought out the best in one another. So they were truly meant to be and given Robin's own circumstances it isn't fair to say that she was selfish and deserved neither of them.

Exactly what 'character development' are you talking about? Barney had to use deceit, trickery and manipulation in order to get Robin to marry him and from the engagement to the wedding was acting like an obnoxious jackass towards both Robin and Ted. Although he did vow to be honest to Robin, he still wasn't mature enough to be the husband she wanted. As for Robin, she was actually at her worst while she was with Barney, be it in season 5 or from the engagement. She was loud and screechy and as she did start to grow emotionally she realised that Barney wasn't really the man she wanted. She was ready to actually ditch him on the day of the wedding, which gives you an idea that their marriage was doomed to fail. The original ending did stay true to the character development that *did* take place, while also providing the righteous closure for all the characters concerned.

All of season 9 was poorly written. Barney burning his playbook and actually trying to commit to one women is enormous for him. The guy was abandoned by his father and rejected by his first love. He has serious issues with commitment, it terrifies him. Him actually going through with a marriage should have been enough for Robin, if she actually knew him. What show where you watching? The ending negated everything which happened in one episode. If you build up something, you have to spend a similar amount of time deconstructing it, which the show did not do. Terrible ending, terrible final season.

This was pure idiocy and very lazy writing. They just could not find a logical reason to break them up, because they were perfect for each other. Writers just threw this idiotic reasons to accelerate their break up. So they could write easy jokes about their usual flirty-one night stand status. They weren't perfect for each other. They often brought out the worst in each other, lied to and manipulated each other, didn't deal well with conflict, and the main reason they had for being together was how similar and broken they were. The worst part is that that similarity was with certain intrests (which was good) but also with being independent and lone wolfs. While there's nothing wrong with that indivitually, in a couple it's hard for the 2 to complement each other.
