Steve!! You are the VERY FIRST KZbin CHANNEL OWNER WHOSE EVEN MENTIONED THE ISSUE OF THE RESIN CURING A HELL OF ALOT FASTER, after it’s warmed up! PLUS, IF I try to make things like a resin bloom, with some of that batch, the temp is a very important part of that. (Maybe if I can find a way to make smaller amounts of resin, I can prepare as little as 3 ounces without ending up with an enormous amount of bubbles!!) First time I warmed it up, it was AFTER I mixed it, (at the instruction of a channel I watched), but before I could get even HALF of the resin used, it cured! I lost 8 OUNCES of Resin!! My fault, I know, I recently tried just warming up the thicker of the two, and I just de-moulded one of my “problem child” moulds, and I’m STILL getting micro bubbles!! Just as much!! I’m gonna try this next, fingers crossed!! But what you’re saying includes a lot more common sense, so I’ll let you know! If you have any advice, I’M ALL EARS!!! Thanks so much!!

Thank you, VERY useful! I'm new to resin work and for me the best tip was to pour into the cup on the side of the cup....to use a plastic stir-stick vs wood...and also to use a heat gun instead of a torch. Your tips and advice are spot-on, thank you!

Great explanation! Why do so few people use a static mixer, I know they cost a bit and can’t be reused but it seems a good way to avoid using cups and stirrers. Probably waste less too. Suppliers of resins often sample their products by providing them in a plastic bag, one part on one side, the other part on the other side. The two parts are kept separate by a plastic strip over a fold, you slide the strip off and mix the two halves. No air in the bag, no bubbles. We used to use a ziplock bag, pour the compounds in the bag, squeeze the air out as you seal the top and then you mix away by squeezing the bag. Warm it up if you want. When it’s mixed you cut the corner and pour out the spout. Why is this never done, seems easier than cups and sticks, even the pouring is easier and less messy. All your techniques still apply of course, don’t pour from a height, pour slowly down one side etc.

Steve, I salute your video. I use another method I'd like you to try. Pour each component slowly into a baloon. Suck out all the air out of the baloon such that the liquid level rises into the neck but not into your mouth ! Tie off the neck or add a clamp to the neck such that air cannot enter. Knead the balloon with cotton gloves on such that your 98.6°f hands do not warm the balloon contents. After you feel you have thoroughly mixed the components, poke a small hole in the bottom of the balloon and proceed to slowly squeeze out the mix like you are decorating a cake. No air in the balloon = zero air bubbles ! If you don't like air bubbles, don't make them in the process.

Quicker method: Mix your resin and put the cup in an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner (about $40 on Amazon) for a few minutes. Bye bye bubbles. Also, what resin you use DOES matter. I bought some from Michaels and it was terrible. I ordered a different more expensive brand known to be very clear and it has much less bubbles even before I put it in the jewelry cleaner.
