Andrew I really enjoyed hearing your story. I have a son who is suffering from mental illness’s and is on a cycle of bingeing then sober for awhile and repeat. He is out there he won’t tell me where, no place to go, no job now and soon penniless now, not knowing how to live life he told me, drinking and likely more, trying to kill the pain of not feeling normal. It’s heartbreaking as he has tried different meds after years of refusing to and was unable to find one that worked or would let him sleep at night, for ADHD. He also tried therapy for a bit and 12 step and more. At this point he has probably lost everything and most of all the girl he loves and his friends. My heart breaks watching him listening to him be in such agony inside. I’m so afraid he will die because of this, way too young. It’s hard to say what came first the addiction or the mental illness, but it’s really hard to get help. If he detoxes he goes right back at it. The impulsivity is bad and he needs help so badly to get a full diagnosis past the ADHD, I feel like more is going on in his brain. I have helped him for yrs but I can’t hold his hand, I am struggling myself health wise. I have set up boundaries too. He doesn’t want to talk about it really, he says he already knows…….I pray for a miracle constantly. I would appreciate any prayers so much, he is such an amazing guy inside of all of this. 🥹

Your situation with your son is identical to our situation with our 37 year old son. ADHD along with addiction from self medicating for so many years has taken it’s toll on all of our family. So difficult to find appropriate help and support. All we want is some peace.

Thank you for posting such an essential and candid video. My alcohol abuse was so bad; I started getting hangovers when I was still drunk! Alcohol is the most destructive drug and a significant cause of depression. In the end, it was easy to quit, and I started seeing the world and people through the eyes of a child. The best incentive for staying sober was going to a social event and being the only person not drinking. Drunk people I had never met before would pour out intimate and personal details about their lives and behave worse than animals. It also makes men and women look like bad pantomime dames - you can only see this when you remove your beer goggles 😱😲😂💖

Holy shit....What a refreshing take on hearing someone's story. So genuine. AA was a horrible experience/example where I went. Maybe I just didn't want to or was ready to hear/accept (who knows). They refuse to accept CPTSD. Instead, "I" have character flaws. The combination of substance abuse and mental health issues is a must. Thank you Andrew.

Literally JUST connected this video to the TV in the other room where my "boyfriend's" half sleeping/half awake hoping he might hear some of this, as I lay here watching our 3 yr old daughter sleep. I don't know what it will take for him to stop. He says he thinks it's ok to blow a few lines once in a while and be a good dad. Needless to say, I disagree, what a joke. So he's off to a mostly useless rehab accepting him as a patient due to alcoholism. ( They don't treat cocaine use because it's not a physiological dependence. ??!) So he'll be released in like...3-5 days? I feel so helpless. I ask God for the strength to get through this, and to help me shield her from this complete bull$##* she never asked for and doesn't deserve.

Put The Shovel down I don't know if I can get out of this now. I lost my partner to betrayal. We lived together for years in our home and one day she was gone with our new born baby. and spent months trying to find them at which point she abducted our child to 8000 miles away and blocked me out completely. Spent two years on court trying to sort it out and got fired and then had a nervous mental breakdown and that was pretty much the end of me. I've gone into a dreadful spiral since all this happened. It's too long now. If you can help thank you.

I was just this depressed before i ever touched fentanyl. But the fentanyl only helped temporarily, but the comedown plus the substance abuse was an add-on to my Major depressive disorder which i was diagnosed at 13 and accepted death at that age. To this day i still despise myself and feel like a useless POS. I have never committed a crime, stole for drugs, id suffer instead. Couldn't bring myself to ask for money for drugs. But i honestly hate my life and if there was an off switch or self assisted suicide id take it with pride. Id say im a waste of life and deserve this death
