Thank you for these words. One of my biggest fears of failing was finishing college and obtaining my degree. I was EPICALLY bad at math and it paralyzed me for my entire adult life. So, in my early 40’s I set a goal to overcome that fear by hiring tutors and starting back to 3rd grade math problems (not kidding). I enrolled at the local community college and little by little chipped away at courses finally being able to transfer to the university where I earned my bachelor’s degree. I didn’t stop there! I went on and became the first in my family to earn a Masters degree in business at the ripe age of 58! It took a long time but I won’t look back at my life and say I didn’t even try! I had my LH as my cheerleader when times were hard to get through and lots of free time sacrificed to study! Thank you for your inspiring words! ❤️

I did the same, at age 35 I went back to school! I thought oh I’ll be 40 by the time I graduate. My dad reminded me that I would be 40 one way or the other! I was terrified of the thought of taking calculus at my “advanced” age, because like you I was not particularly fond of math! Anyway, graduated a few months shy of my 40th birthday and then 5 years later my masters degree. It was all worth it as I had a nice 22 year career at a major university and have now been retired for 4 years!

Thank you so much for telling your story. My husband and I closed our business 3 years ago and we are so thankful now that we lost our business. We were both crying 3 years ago. I went back to school and got my Masters. I am about to teach a CE class on Burnout in 3 hours online. Thank you for your encouragement. I just found you online 3 weeks ago. I love your workouts, I am also 50 and these workouts challenge me but don't hurt me. You are awesome!

No bloopers! Extra awesome on a video about failing forward! I "failed" at two marriages. Swear to God, I tried hard. And the second divorce about killed me because of losing my well-paying job at the same time, and now I was a single parent to two kids. Then I tried harder. Now I am married to a wonderful man for 10 years this month. Our kids are healthy and happy. You are so right about believing whatever we tell ourselves, so choose your messaging wisely!

So much wisdom here ~ so many takeaways from your talk. Thank you for sharing something so personal. I love your mantra ~ I have used that in the past myself. Still do! Change is hard. About ten years ago I applied for and got a job that was a big step up for me. Yay me, right? Well not everyone at the new office was happy about me getting the job. In fact many of my coworkers strived to make me as miserable as possible. I kept saying ~ it’s all going to be okay. And it was, but it took a LOT of patience and biting my tongue. I also sang that song by Gloria Gaynor ~ I Will Survive ~ in the car on my way home! The experience made me a tougher/stronger person! Thanks again for sharing your experience with us!

Thank you for sharing your journey with us! I'm sorry for the heartbreak you had to go through. Great job picking up and carrying on! I am currently 45 and feeling like I have failed, but more of a personal, family failure with my teenage son. We have had so much hope recently, he was starting a job with a family business for the summer. But he is struggling enormously with anxiety and cannot seem to get up in the morning or make it to work early enough. It's really hard because my extended family members all blame me for not parenting him well enough. I'm trying to let go. I want to reach out to him but it seems to make everything worse...so here I am. Letting him fail, and wondering how to pick up the pieces. Thanks again for all you are doing!

Thank you so much for this video PJ. I love that you are not afraid to be real. I too have had failures and understood, after some time, that they were the best things that could have happened to me. I had a business with a partner who ultimately left me 'holding the bag', I had a man that I loved who cheated on me with one of my employees (a friend) and ended up marrying her. Those were the big ones. Like you I had friends and family who helped me and I sought out support with a therapist. All this is behind me and I have a husband of 29 years and am happy in my home and work life. I will likely fail in the future but I now know that there is gold beyond the pain. Thank you for helping me to love exercise. BTW-you look gorgeous. Loved the hat!

Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing. This video came at a really good time for me. I graduated from my civil engineering degree at the end of 2019 and then took a bit of time off. Then the pandemic happened and so now I have been unemployed for much longer than I meant to be! The job market is really competitive these days so its hard not to feel like a failure sometimes. Your video was really encouraging. Side note I am the fittest I've been in years (largely thanks to you! ) and so I'm thinking in a way this extra time off has worked out great.

What an amazing message! Thank you for sharing, PJ. When I was in my 30's I "knew" my choices and circumstance made me who I was and I remember being so proud of that girl. Something shifted in my 40s and I've spent the past 2 decades (😲) wallowing and longing for what was instead of embracing my "now"; which is in no way horrible, by the way. Finally, at 56, I am ready to step back into myself and embrace all that brought me here. You are in no way a small piece of the "knock on the head" I needed, PJ ... I appreciate you so much 💕.

Without going into a long story, this video is exactly what I needed. I'm looking for my support person. My boyfriend kind of is that person in the fact that he doesn't care what I want or need to do, he's there. And he is NOT a talker. And my best friend, who I thought was that person- is not that person. There always has to be a benefit for her effort.(she is a business woman). I might not be wording this the right way, but that's where my feelings are. Thanks for the video

PJ, this is really inspiring, thank you for this, it's definitely made my day. I think that sometimes it's easy enough to dwell on what went wrong and forgetting to be grateful for what did go right / what's good in one's life resulting in a spiral if negativity. The hard part is breaking out of that vicious circle. l will definitely be sharing this video with family and friends. 😍
