Putting the waterproof covers on the pannier bags before you leave can save a lot of faffing if you get caught in a sudden downpour, and will keep the bags clean from all the road crud at this time of year. Have a great trip !!

I have camped a lot on weekend trips over the years, and for one night, you've taken the kitchen sink and the house too. I thought I was always well prepared 😂 I think I'd take about half of all of that. Defo not a stove for one night, but then I don't know where you're going to eventually camp and if there's some sort of amenities prior to you pitching up, that you could feed yourself at. Good to see you're back out after that awful slide. Braver than I, at this time of year. I'm well past doing winter riding. Let alone a tent in Scotland in the cold, on a 125 brrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

I would swap over the sleeping bag and tent location. ie tent in pannier ( if fits) and sleeping bag in waterproof roll bag. Will keep sleeping bag dry and heavier tent will be lower down on bike. Just an opinion, have a great time keep eye on weather not looking good this week 👍🏻🫖🍳

I'd recommend rok straps rather than bungy cords. Some plastic bags and some baby wipes are also worthwhile additions. Also, don't put liquids in with books/electronic stuff, etc It doesn't always rain up here 🙄 Let me know when your heading up

Great video Kate, very informative. I would change out the elastic bungee Straps for Rok Straps, always use them for luggage as I find them more secure to use plus I carry a second pair just in case. Stay safe and enjoy your trip.

Camping! In this weather?? Your a hero, at the moment it's definitely b&b weather. As another guy remarked, buy a cheap tablet and download a couple of films, it takes up a lot less space and is lighter than your books. I know that it's being a bit optimistic but, how about a solar charger? (then again it is Scotland)! Lol. You ride safe and, I hope that your ankle injury from the German trip is ok.

Very comprehensive breakdown of gear. It's so easy to get carried away with spending loads on gear and thinking you need a touring bike to go on an adventure! One small piece of advice, garnered from years of camping. Use more zip lock bags. Especially when it comes to cables, batteries, etc. They help with separating out stuff when you've got lots of different things in a large carryall. They also add to the level of waterproofing. And buoyancy, though that's a different story lol. Hope your straps hold up, and you get some sunny days. Zoom zoom!

Looking forward to your camping trip. Hope your milk doesn't go off before you set off. If you plan to do more camping trips, get yourself some 'ROK STRAPS' They're excellent , and much better than bungee cords. Save a bit of space by putting the rain covers on before you go, plus time, and, possibly, wet stuff if it starts to rain. Really, enjoying your videos lately. You've got a lot of different ideas which, I think are working for you. Hope Suzuki weren't too miffed about there scratched bike. And, finally, rather you than me in the winter.

Glad to see no side effects from your spill in Germany, The packing vid is great, but I'd personally use ROK straps (much more secure) or for maximum security Ratchet straps (but bulky), lots of people don't pack a rucksack, but if the height of the roll bag is correct, then the rucksack weight is taken by that, and is very easy to put a lot of weighty items in, keeping centre of gravity relative to bike. I have to say you're way more adventurous than me in terms of time of year (mind you are probably only a third of my age 😂) I like summer trips, with a bit of sun 👍 AND , I've downsized massively from 1250GS & 1290SAS to CRF300, does it all, but more relaxing and a LOT cheaper 👍

i'd never knock anyone camping, i've done it myself, but mainly i when younger i cycled & youth hostelled and used bunk barn type accommodation. It's not a lot of money, and all you need to mainly bother about is a change of clothes and can travel light with the minimum hassle. I once did a year around europe/north africa/middle east with just a saddlebag & good planning makes the job much simpler. I'm doing a bit on the motorbike now and keep to the same principles, i like the travelling & new places, but a warm dry bed, shower and a decent meal at the end of the day without the hassle of setting up and taking down (sometimes in the rain) is a chore i can do without lol. last autumn i did a trip of 400 miles in 2 days on my 125 with just a sports bag strapped on the rack, paid £20 for the nights accommodation, not much more than a campsite if you dont go wild, and apart from the odd coffee and meals had a fab time for almost nothing. I won't say i'll never camp again but it's lost it's appeal a bit especially now i'm over 60, but GL to those that do, i love to see it, it's character building that's for sure :)

Bungees have just the right shape of metal hooks to scratch paintwork or if you're really unlucky 'ping' into the eyes at high speed! As others have said below, take Rok straps instead. Beyond that, few cable ties, gaffa tape, swiss army pen knife and perhaps a puncture repair outfit (they come with mini compressed air cylinders) to plug a tyre if necessary.

Try putting your heavier stuff down low it will help with the handling of the bike, and I agree with others the cooking gear is a bit much for an overnight, a smaller gas canister and precooked food which just needs hot water will cut down on your packing needs. If you can get the Lomo 40 ltr barrel bag it can be strapped across your panniers and help to keep them from swing in when riding the bends, I am preparing for a trip to Scotland again this year but on my larger Rebel 1100 this time so weight is not such a problem as last year. I did the NC500 on my Honda125 Super Cub June 2022 1720 miles in a week as we live in Reading so 1720 miles getting about 120mpg carrying camping gear so it goes to prove you do not need a big adventure bike to do a tour. If you do tour carry a 2litr spare fuel can and remember if you have a small fuel tank work out your fuel stops before you go as the maximum range of the cub is about 90 miles the most I put in was £6 and that was when it was £2 a litre and the tank only hold 3.6 litres.
