We're looking forward to episode 2 where you walk around by the Hardangerfjord showing us all the clothes you bring on a motorcycle trip. Of course accompanied by Hardanger violin. You can practice the follow me function on your drone at the same time.

I too suffered with disturbed sleep due the noise my Exped sleep-mat makes when placed directly on the tent floor. Any movement whilst sleeping, sounds like you are making balloon sculptures in your tent. I have now solved this by creating a sleep-mat footprint from lightweight fabric. I used a piece of weed barrier matting used in gardening, as it is non-cotton, thin, lightweight, and moisture resistant. It folds / rolls up to a tiny size so takes up very little extra space on the bike. Now I can wriggle as much as I like on my sleep-mat without disturbing my sleep or anyone else. 😴
@OffSheGoesADV Жыл бұрын
That is a great idea, thank you! 😊 I will definitely try that! what an easy and smart solution

@@OffSheGoesADV I tried a bunch of mats (some years ago), I found most with ultra light fabrics were noisy. I settled on the Klymit Insulated static V. Partly because of the additional insulation and thus higher R-Value, but also because the it is a 75D weight fabric making it much less noisy than the ultralight 20D fabrics used in some of the more fancy sleeping mats. It's only about 100g heavier than the light version which uses 30D fabric. As a side sleeper I probably should have gotten the 9cm thick version, but the 6cm thick version is still good.

Good vid. Glad I found it. I've been riding and traveling for 56 yrs. Too many jackets, soap, little containers. Scattered in too many bags. After a few trips narrow it down to what you really use and need. You will appreciate my comments then. Maybe not now. All respectful to you. I use a few GL bags and Mototech as well. Great products. There are several sidestand replacements, one of the best is Came-Adv a Canadian company. Also the footprint can be enlarged. Aerostitch has a lot of products for RTW travel. They are in Duluth, MN USA. Great store and online. Like your fuel can, good job. I also have a Yamaha Tenere 700, 2022. Stay safe

Helped me come up with a kit list. Been wilderness hiking and teaching bushcraft/survival for years, but now planning a trip to Norway next May on my bike (first time bike adventure)and I can certainly take a few extra comforts like an actual pillow... I might even push to a chair! Brilliant idea for a portable washing machine 😉 One tip from me, I don't worry about using separate bags for nighttime, socks, undies etc.... It all goes in with the sleeping bag. I also don't use a bag around my rollmatt or tent as it just adds to more clutter... I just use a bit of cord that can easily be stowed away or used as an extra guyline for the tent! And even cord for fire by friction! Oh and I use a firesteel striker to light my gas stove. I've had clickers fail on me, whereas the striker never fails even when wet and can also be used to light birch bark etc for a camp fire. Excellent video! Thanks for sharing! Oh and the fuel can placement is fab!

Phew, I thought I was packing to much but am pretty similar to you, I have 2 x 16 L enduristan saddle bags and a 40 L drybag on top, effects slow speed handling a bit but don't notice it once I get going, just did 100km twisty gravel backcountry roads here in NZ and it handled well, ( I have the T7 as well), fuel consumption surprised me as it was under 4L/100km even riding it hard,fully loaded. I got talking to a women on a pushbike doing the lenght of the south island (13 days I think she said) , she only had 10kg of gear , it seems to be tools ,cameras and charging gear that add up on a motorbike.
@OffSheGoesADV Жыл бұрын
I Have the same experience. I am trying my best to make pack as little and minimalistic as possible, but especially traveling in colder countries warm clothes and a thick sleeping bag takes up a lot of room too. And yes, camera gear! 😅 New Zealand is on my to-do-list in near future, it looks absolutely fantastic! 😊 Is wild camping allowed there?
@silverdale3207 Жыл бұрын
@@OffSheGoesADV There's plenty of places to wild camp in NZ as long as you're discreet,plenty of remote spots where you could pitch a tent and no one would worry, NZ is also well served with maintained basic campsites on the tourist routes often in stunning locations ideal for adv riders for as little as $10 a night, also country town domains, and you could always knock on a farmers door , most of us would let you camp in a paddock and you'd probably get offered a cup of tea as well, we're a pretty friendly bunch here. Hope you get to NZ it's a great place to ride .

Hello there! thanks for your useful videos. I am planning a trip to Nordkapp in June and I was wondering if you have any advise on planning stops. Do you think I will be ok finding a campsite on the go or do you think I should pre-arrange accommodations? Reason I am asking is that I would like to take the trip as it comes and decide on the spot. Many thanks and safe riding! :)
@OffSheGoesADV9 ай бұрын
Thank you! 😊 Sounds like you have an awesome trip ahead! June is, in general, an easy month to travel in, in Norway, as there are not AS many tourists and people on holiday yet. I have never pre booked anything in Norway, but I mostly camp. If you're planning on doing mostly hotels/cabins I still think you will be fine, but as I'm sure you know there is further in between places to stay the further north you go 😊 So perhaps start looking for accommodation in the morning, or midday when you know approximately where you'll end up! If you're bringing a tent you'll be fine anyway, as wild camping is allowed and you can pitch your tent pretty much anywhere 😊

@OffSheGoesADV2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have very little off-road experience, I got my license in 2020 and did my first gravel riding in June this year 😊 There is just one way to learn!
@intensegamer75592 жыл бұрын
@@OffSheGoesADV You sure are brave. If you can manage to get something like a Honda CRF300L to practice on gravel I strongly recommend doing so because it only weighs 140kg and puts down a mild 23 horsepower. Plus, it is relatively cheap and very robust (due to its minimalistic build and very light weight). An alternative would be to take some off-road training lessons where you can learn the basic techniques (also, knowing how to wheelie can be really helpful). Again, I wish you the best of luck on your journey!

Helpfull video thanks - You may have said some where, why soft rather than hard packs? I have recently gone the other way and really prefer the hard luggage on my new Triumph, the old one had soft. I hope to come to Norway later tis year, seeing friends in Sandnes and Alta. How easy is it to find campsites on the day or should I book in advance. Prefer the freedom of not booking.
@OffSheGoesADV Жыл бұрын
Hey Matt! There are mainly two reasons why I prefer soft luggage; nr 1 they weigh so much less than the hard cases and nr 2; if (when) I fall over with my motorcycle the soft luggage is less likely to get damaged. And IF it is damaged it is easier to fix with some gaffer tape and paracord. If the hard cases break (rack, mount, locks etc) it is so much harder! Although the hard packs are definitely much more convenient! 😊 If you are doing camping cabins you might need to pre book a couple days in advance for the more populated areas in Norway. If you're doing tent there is usually always room for you 😊
