HOW I PACK FOR TRAVEL AS AN ULTRA MINIMALIST✨

Travel is one of the best experiences to feel freedom, so I always keep it light and simple when I pack. Hang out with me today as I show you how ✨

Last fall I thought I was going away on a one night trip, so in a somewhat minimal way, I packed a clean extra T-shirt, one pair of underwear and a toothbrush. Then life happened, and I ended up being away three weeks from home, including a week in Rome. And I survived… My daughters met up with me at the airport, and I asked them to bring a dress and my passport. But that was all. I’m proud of myself for making it so long with so few items. And it really wasn’t very hard either, washing clothes by hand every night with hotel soap is ok

As I minimalist and a flight attendant…I love shocking people with bringing my backpack and my small crossbody on a two day trip. People are like “that’s it??” And I’m like yeah. It’s the same amount I fit in my roller board but I like the backpack because I don’t have to carry it up stairs when I get home. It’s so convenient.

Hi Alicia :) Do you ever experience social anxiety during your trips? If so, how do you cope with it? I tend to get nervous quite quickly when thinking about going somewhere alone, especially if there might be a large crowd

Large crowds don’t really give anxiety for me, they are just more annoying haha. Most of my solo travel has been to nature which is way more enticing to me than big cities. I’ve def come across some anxiety driving solo through the mountains in my older car and hoping it doesn’t break down lol, but pushing through anxiety feels good on the other side- it’s empowering 🩵

Happy birthday Alicia! I hope it is a wonderful peaceful spiritual experience for you. I am an over packer. I have tried to pack light and every time I do it doesn’t work out. Earlier this year I went to Idaho and Utah and saw that the highs were going to be in the seventies so I packed accordingly. I missed the part about the crazy winds they were having and didn’t realize that without the humidity I’m used to it would feel much colder. I spent the whole trip freezing and saying “I packed so wrong.”

I love your videos and that you did an outfit modeling sesh at the end! I aspire to pack lightly too and try to each time now the same way….each time I travel I grab less and less and find that I still don’t use everything I packed. @@Exploravore It's not really more items (you packed a coat after all!) But more that they are bulkier. I usually have hiking trousers and plain trousers rather than leggings, and t-shirts rather than crop tops, but that is body type as much as climate. What l am wearing, one full change of clothes, one extra set undies. Perhaps something to sleep in which doubles as exercise or beach wear. My ordinary day sack has more 'just in case' items like a first aid kit, tissues, spare glasses/sunglasses etc. But more or less the same. Plus my knitting as well as the notepad/journal. I prefer a tote bag rather than the personal item bag you showed. A crossbody 'mobile phone bag' rather than the clutch, it takes phone, wallet, tissues and keys.

I was able to test it out a bit last month visiting Maui for 10 days in just a backpack. Luckily had laundry machines in the condo which makes all the difference of course. I travel much for work and only carry a backback. I pack almost as minimal as you. I have a laptop when I work though but it fits in my backpack like yours. I have my body soap(made from tallow) I want to use that because it doesn´t dry out my skin. I have a moisterize, also from tallow and a cocanut schampoo. Also a deoderant fits in there. That´s all! I don´t where make-up, I dye my lashes and I have eyeliner tattoo. I panic if there is to much stuff around me! Ha ha!

I consider myself a minimal packer. Currently in Europe for a month. I brought my Fjalraven backpack and a fanny pack. I have a foldable shopping bag to go to the grocery and also to take snacks on the train with me. I can move about easily including getting on and off trains and buses.

Oh man I pack fairly light. I also make a list and inevitably come back with unused items so I lessen the next time… but I definitely unpack and moved into spaces when I travel so maybe I need to check myself 😂. Anything can be replaced but I’d never though about that. I suppose keeping my wallet and essentials central at least. Happy Thursday 😊 By the way… is there a new version of this backpack? I don’t see it on the site. I need one to travel with but my standard little Carhartt just isn’t going to cut it

Yes I do- all my clothes, even the winter ones, are pretty thin. Layering helps ;)
