Hi there, from Ouray, Colorado! Thank you for another awesome and informative video! 2 QUESTIONS (and I am trending towards getting a 40l and the Daylight plus)- 1) I see your link for the packing cubes takes us to the peak design packing cubes. There are several sizing and quantity options. For the 40L, is the set of 3 (1 medium and 2 small) sufficient? Or, do you recommend the set of 6; which may provide some extras for the day pack too? 2) What would be the maximum sized (and I guess the maker) of a water bottle that the 40L can reliably carry (mainly so it both fits and doesn't fall out)? Thank you and safe travels!

Heya! I personally don't use more than 2 or 3 packing cubes. Any more and it gets confusing where you put stuff. Some things can just be in the backpack loose. For a water bottle or go for about 1 liter or US equivalent. Should fit in pocket

@indietraveller Hi there!! Thank you very much! Your comments make great sense to me. I appreciate the prompt response too!! I have a work trip to Des Moines Iowa this week; land of the bigger shopping opportunities hehehe. According to the Osprey website, there are a couple of stores that have the 40L Farpoint in stock for me to try on.

I'm really having a difficult time trying to decide between the Farpoint 40 and 55 Trek. I like the smaller, lighter capacity of the 40, but I also want to go on some longer hikes and am worried that the straps on the 40 will start to hurt after a while, and I know the 55 Trek has much more comfortable suspension system. Any thoughts? Thank you . . .

The FP40 will still be OK for hikes/treks in my opinion. I haven't used the current version for that yet, but I hiked 2 days (for about 6 hours each) with the FP40 and it was fine. I also once hiked with the old FP55 to Annapurna basecamp in Nepal (for 5 days) without major issues. I imagine with the new FP40's back panel it will even be a little better. The Trek however is definitely more padded... you will barely notice it. So I guess... if optimizing more for treks, then the Trek. But you can still hike/trek alright with the FP40 :)

@@indietraveller Thanks for responding. I ended up purchasing the 55 Trek after all. Just wasn't sure if the 40 would be large enough for traveling in Morocco for 5 weeks between February and March and needing clothes for different environments. The 55 seems not too large and more comfortable, so I hope that's the right choice. On another point, can you recommend where to purchase a lightweight but warm jacket or coat, a towel that dries quickly and packs light, and a lightweight drinking bottle with a purifier? Do you have a video where you talk about these things, or know of some links? Thank you in advance . . .

@@stonew1927 Nice! I recommend LifeStraw purifying bottles and any quick drying microfiber travel or small beach towel. I have an older article with some tips for this here (to be updated in the near future) www.indietraveller.co/how-to-pack-light/

Does it make sense having both the old version farpoint 40 AND the new farpoint 55? (I’m asking because the new 55 is basically a 40 with a daypack, but the old farpoint 40 has more organization options - even more than the new 40)
@indietraveller

Hmmm you mean to use the FP40 + FP55 on the same trip? I guess that would be quite cumbersome!

@@indietraveller no, not to use on the same trip, just to own - for different options.

@@cherry.bomb_ Ahhh I see 😀I think right now my favorite combo is new FP40 + Osprey Daylite Plus. They you can decide whether to take the daylite based on the trip. For 55L I prefer the 55 Trek over the normal 55. I'm gonna do a video featuring all of these soon! It's true the new FP40/55 don't have an internal organizer pocket... it's a pity, though I guess that can be compensated for by getting your own pouch or organizer for small items.
