What a wonderful commentary Katie!. Listening to your artistic process really opened my eyes to not limiting the progression to one “flower” but to work on the entire painting. Your new class sounds wonderful, will check it out. Your orchid painting is fabulous!!, the one bloom does look like it is in the background and understand why it was more difficult, after all, it is the back side you are showing!!.

Orchids are usually sold in potting mixes that drown the roots, so that you'll go out and buy another one when the first one dies. If you want to keep it alive, look up repotting phalaenopsis orchid videos on youtube :) The key is to get the right mixture of air to the roots and water retention.
