I went on an Alaskan cruise and somehow my pocket notebook wasn't in my purse. I had to be up early on Friday to leave the ship and had a long day with an 1130 PM flight leaving Anchorage and and overnight flight back home. I had a zillion things running through my brain and wanted to write stuff down before I forgot them. but no paper. I found one of those airline magazines and the were a largely white page - so I used it. It was mostly scribble and not in any sort of order but I kept writing. When I got home last night I copied all that info into my jr sized diskbound notebook - wow. there was over 30 items on that list. And now, all that will get done. First time I ever did a brain dump but it was freeing and kind of fun. But the person next to me probably thinks I'm nuts.

I am SOOOOOO happy I came across this video during my recent planner research! This makes absolutely all the sense in the world to me! And it totally ties in with why I have been searching for ways to help my planner help me instead of being a place mat for dust on my coffee table lol I am definitely going to check out that book! That's the kind of self-help I could use. Over the past year I started traveling weekly for work and have noticed a BIG downsizing of my memory. I remember an insane amount of work-related things, but forget so much personally and socially. Constantly double-booking myself, forgetting to pay bills (even with reminders on my phone)...and this method sounds perfect for helping uncloud my brain. I am truly looking forward to making a weekly habit of this. Thanks again soooo very much for sharing!!!!

This was soo helpful! As a college student with leadership positions in two different student organizations, I'm constantly thinking "I should do this" but only half the time does it make it past that point. Thanks so much!

Brain dumps r great. Something keeping u up at night. Get up write it all down then you can actually sleep because you r not worried about remembering the info, or processing the info. Good stuff. I like the idea of a list to trigger ideas that maybe in our brains that need to come out. This way it does not bug you the very next day. Sometimes the info is overwhelming. It can be like a giant to do list, but if you break it down in categories and put those thoughts where they belong that must help. I will do this in the future. I do a weekly brain dump on all the things I "think" I need to get done that week, but then I prioritize so I don't feel overwhelmed. Thank you for sharing your ideas and processes!

Thank you so much for this information and all the information on your channel! I work full-time as an attorney at a stressful job that I love and I have a 6 month old. I'm sleep deprived and always go, go, going. I have so much information in my head all the time that I am starting to not be as productive at work or at home! This is so helpful and I'm going to make it a regular practice to help my productivity!

I love your channel so much! I'm learning so many things to help me with both planning and clearing my mind so I don't feel like a madwoman running around all the time. I don't have a full time job or kids, but I do have a lot of family responsibilities and I don't take the time for my goals and things I want to get done. You are really helping come to terms with this and giving suggestions for what I can do to improve. Thank you!

I always get one thing or another from your videos. I do a brain dump one a month to help me with my next month planning. But I do not have a trigger list. I think this will cut down on the amount of time it takes me to try to search my brain for those 'other' things. Thank you so much for sharing.

This was great, Alexis! I kind of understood what a brain dump was, but as usual, you explained it so thoroughly, answering a bunch of questions. And, YES, please continue these productivity/planner videos. We're loving them! Thanks.

The problem with brain dumps (for me) is when I sit down to actually dump my brain I draw a blank. Ideas pop into my head when it's actively thinking, working, inspired, etc. I can have 10 tabs opened on my browser and my subconscious mind remembers I need to call my health insurance company, for example. So weird! So your Triggers Lists may be the piece I need to make this work for me. Thanks for sharing!

This is great! I was using a personal planner to already categorize my popups. To sit down an just write.... to be honest until now I only did it, when I could not fall asleep, beacuse my brain was so busy repeating things again and again. I put(ed?) a little notebook and a pencil next to my bed. I never had the Idea to do it regularly. I need to try! I hope, my english is okay. I'm german.

I've never done a brain dump but my brain is ready bc when I head to bed I think: "i should do this" or "don't forget that" or insert random thought. And every night I also think....why don't I write this down? But by that time it is too late. Needless to say, I'm printing those lists will definitely be trying to brain dump. (I just wish there was a prettier phrase for it!)
