Small correction, the ward doesn't give vision after it dies on it's own. But if you (or your team) destroy it, then the vision will linger for a little bit (1-2 seconds as petu said)

11:13 If I remember correctly, the ward vision only lingers for couple seconds if the ward gets killed. If the ward expires, it disappears immediately. Pink ward vision disappears immediately when destroyed/replaced by another pink. And I think blue ward vision disappears immediately as well when destroyed but only lingers when it detects enemy champion
