If you run on a 14 day cycle, meaning every other week is 7 days of running and the next is 6 days, prioritize the 7th day on the 6 day week with a full recovery day from yoga, stretching, rolling , etc. just till your legs feel recovered and fresh for the next day. Same with your mind, destress your day by doing something you enjoy if you have time as well as eating well 😄🏔. Hope this helps

It’s not a real recovery method but I find when I watch a comfort show while I rest after running my body can kind of fully relax and my mental feels much better. I’m not sure if there’s scientific evidence of it helping but a calm mind helps my body recover better it seems. ALSO WOOD GANG TO THE TOP 🎉🎉🎉

Was training to attempt sub 3 at St. George and was experiencing pretty intense foot pain. Went to the Dr and found out my navicular bone in my right foot has a micro stress fracture. Dr. Campbell said no running for 6-8 weeks. Pretty devastated, but trying to get smarter about training, lifting more, swimming, and stationary cycling as I heal. I am determined to come back smarter and stronger!

take online medical suggestions w a grain of salt, but i've worked w D1 and D3 track and field athletes and navicular stress fx are common. Especially when running on a banked indoor track bc the foot is more likely to collapse/ pronate w the bank Id recommend starting w insoles and stability shoes if u notice ur foot collapses in too much. Also try posterior tibialis strengthening

I want to tell you, I also didn't have a bath at my last place, so instead I bought a kiddie pool and filled it with water from my kitchen faucet using the spray hose. It was magical and exactly what I needed during recovery in prep for my first marathon.

really wish coros existed when I was a high school runner, lots of solo runs with no idea of my pace/splits unless I was on the track for a workout with my coach. Legit one of the best purchases I have made in my life was the pace 2 with the arm band.

My favorite recovery method is ice-bathing in a cold stream... It acts like super Tylenol for inflammation and gives you a tone of endorphins. And I have a freind in college that loves to do the same, but his team is struggling to raise money for this stuff... If anyone can give anything to help it would go towards a great cause. Hey adam, how do you set the pace for your 4x400m workout? Doesn't look like those are all out 400m runs, so was wondering what the goal/effect of the training is and how you set the pace for it. Btw, the video couldn't have come at a better time for me! Just finished a training program (10k with coach greg, iykyk) with my watch last week and was looking for a new plan to try out for the next few months but the training plan Garmin recommends for my new training goal was too aggressive for my liking, and I needed some help with figuring out what to do with my interval/workout sessions!

I started running in early March this year. Since then I have been consistently running 6-7x per week. I have somewhat slowly upped my mileage but I started with ~25mpw. Right now I am at 45-50mpw. I haven't taken a 'week off' yet or a week where I lower mileage by anything over 5 miles since I started running. I have recently started biking to school because I started college and that adds 12 miles per day of biking. This addition of biking has made my recovery suffer. I would like some help with how I can take a 'recovery week'. How many miles should I shoot for or should I just take every run easy and set a time goal of like 30-45 minutes? Any tips are appreciated.

Question related to doubles! I've been dealing with right shin pain; it got so bad last year I had to take two months off. Now I've been building up slowly this year, but the pain is starting to return (2 weeks before a race!). I'm currently running 4 days a week, about 15-20 miles. Would it be easier for my body to recover from if I spread my same mileage out across 6 days per week? So keep my weekends with LR+easy run (say 7 and 3 miles), but then take like 1 or 2 miles off of each of my Tues/Thurs runs (5 miles ish) and add them to Mon/Wed? I'd have only 1 rest day instead of 3 rest days, but my midweek mileage would be a lot easier. Anybody have experience trying something like this?

Splitting your mileage into 2 runs. Usually at least 4-5 hours apart. Easier to recover from!

Highly unusual seeing a male supplement iron. Esp a male who regularly eats red meat & poultry. As runners I suppose we do destroy red blood cells at a slightly elevated rate, but it's not really something most guys need worry about unless you're on a very restrictive diet. Female athletes OTOH are a totally different story. They really need to closely monitor and often supplement iron levels due to their monthly cycle + the added strain of training. But guys supplementing iron NIGHTLY? ...should prob. get ur blood serum ferritin levels checked. Depending on dose, it'd be pretty easy to overshoot the healthy range.
