@Ickalocka boobooday no one said it was. It's just a sexism thing that mostly happens to women. Men are not stereotyped as "more maternal" "naturally comforting" or "instinctively nurturing" the way women are and that's just a simple fact. So when women "fail" to fulfill those expectations, they are punished.

@@bunnygutz7884 there's a difference between shyness and introversion, though. I've met shy extroverts and very socially skilled introverts. It is true that being very shy can be a problem in certain areas of life, especially if you combine that shyness with a fear of confrontation (as I did). Yo i have a story about that. So i was having a therapist right? Because i wanted a diagnosis for some medical issue i had. So i talked to her for a while but after a short while i realised she was kinda bad at her job so i put on my polite quietness thing and you know what happened? She completely ignored the issue i had and diagnosed me with some sort of avoidant personality disorder just cause i was distant to her because she annoyed me. So yeah that makes sense because i am totally not the exact opposite. So yeah apparently you need to be your most extroverted self to therapist otherwise they'll diagnose personality traits as a disorder.

Saira Ailia I think what she was trying to say is that people who take selfies usually take great care in taking them, whether they take multiple, look for the best lighting, angle, etc. to get the best shot. Overall, there are some people who take selfies more serious than others and honestly, I take selfies keeping all those things in mind. Black people aren’t treated well in the USA to put it mildly but if people took them as seriously as they take their selfies, then there wouldn’t be this problem. I don’t speak for her but I think she wants people to care for black people at least as much as people care for how they take selfies. The part that got me was the sis was so shook, she shanked part bc that was a hilarious play on words.

I do want to have my alone time aswell but that’s when I’m home or something but when I’m in social places like school I don’t want to be alone. I have this vision for myself to be a unbothered badass and lives life to be happy and feel good, I don’t want to feel stuck all the time anymore. Sometimes I can’t get words out and I feel like I might be looked down upon cause I’m quiet sometimes, I want to be the part of the day when people talk to me they feel better not worse. I dunno but I can go on and on about this vision so I hope I can stop being so shy sometimes. Also a step I’m gonna make is my fashion and I’m pretty lowkey about my fashion but in reality I love to style outfits and dress up so I might do that more. (I heard dressing up helps build your character, for awhile it’s like u wear a costume but then it becomes u) I hope dressing up helps me become more bold in my social actions aswell! Anyways this is my little story..

Staying off social media has significantly improved my mental health. I was constantly on social media watching the violence that's going on. I wanted to be informed about what people were going through, but it got to a point where it was unhealthy. It's important to staying informed, but constantly watching violence isn't it.
@uniquelyshellz4 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you, I notice the same thing, that by being on social media and witnessing all these violent protesting going on it brings out these negative energy and thoughts , especially I suffer from mild anxiety, so I decided to get off social media except on youtube because I can control what I watch..only God can get us through this.

Shelby Wolf I get where you’re coming from. But I just don’t think it’s the best route to tell people what feels to me to essentially be, “oh your mental health is bad? Well black girls’ are worse right now so shut up and keep up.” Yes, a lot of white people are now becoming aware of the immense amount of trauma and pain we have as black women. Yes, us black women have been carrying this immense weight for all our lives. But white women who are just now realizing it and becoming aware and educating themselves (or those who were aware anyway but couldn’t make big changes on their own) are just getting their feet in and it’s hard. It’s really, really hard to enter this kind of awareness and stay hyperalert when you aren’t used to it. We’re all people. I think if white people are a little overwhelmed by this, it’s okay to let em take a break. As long as they remain committed and willing to continue to fight for justice, I don’t see an issue. Hell, I should probably take a break from all this mess too.

It’s actually so annoying how brands now want to be inclusive, just for the sake of looking good or not getting “canceled”. It’s super performative, and I’ve definitely seen through these shallow behaviors. It shouldn’t take a national crisis for your brand to show some racial-inclusivity!!

Exactly. It should be the time that they do things without advertising it, but they don't know how to do anything unless they turn it into a pr advantage. In a way it is a kind of progress but at the same time, you know that it's only that they're serving the temporary master of immediate profit: i.e., look at how Pride Parades have become advertising campaigns. I am wary of anyone who switches opinion immediately in a way that highlights themselves. Instead of admitting complicity and giving an assurance that they will do more, many brands put up a veiled public favour request all about them in a symbol that has as much depth as the frame of a 2-D square.
@nadineslimane1224 жыл бұрын

You’re right, it shouldn’t. It is difficult to shake off a lifetime of learning something one way, but it shouldn’t be that way in the first place. The world really sucks 😞
@EyeGlassTrainofMind4 жыл бұрын
@@nadineslimane122 there's a huge difference between getting cancelled/shamed and admitting fault but committing legitimately to a cause. The problem is that these brands aren't even admitting past fault but instead are acting as if they were always with black people which is just b.s. Is it still bad if they apoligize due to public pressure, yes, but it is worse to pretend to not be racist via an ad campaign when 40+ years of recent history state otherwise. That's the issue.

The last advice is so true : talking less. I feel that too, as an introverted person, I used to think that I should be more extroverted, and sometimes I did became more extroverted. But idk actually being extroverted is like giving the opportunity for people to ask or even take without asking your time. And you may not even notice it. It's actually good to be ourselves and set healthy boundaries, talking to people if we want to, and don't if we don't want to.
@jasminab39084 жыл бұрын
I tried doing the extroverted thing and talk a lot more, even when I didn´t feel like it. I did this because I hated the fact that people would tell me how quiet and shy I am all the time. But I get the ´´u don´t talk a lot´´ comments to this day and I now just realized maybe I should stop caring about what other people think and just do what makes me happy.
@mischa61274 жыл бұрын
I went through all that too. Not an extroverted person but forced myself to be extroverted and more because others said I should be... I should step out of my comfort zone, stretched myself. I get that, but I just was not myself and at the end of the day, it was forced and I have to say, quite draining for me. Not my happiest moments and so, still made for some awkward interactions with others. Didn't make them gravitate to me any more than when I was being my introverted self🤷. Oh well, I'll keep trying but for the most part, gotta stay true...
