Just purchased a Blackstone 36 base model last friday for $250 at Tractor Supply! Seasone her up per your video and cooked easter dinner yesterday, a family member had to work today (Easter). The first thing I cooked was 5 sliced onions, Blackstone Betty recommended this...I have also seen other cooks use onions to make regular fryin pans "non-stick". We made the following on the flat top. Griddle seared scallops and onion fried rice w/ scallops Bang bang Cajun shrimp...really good! griddle green beans smashed potaoes (boiled first) and a lot caramelized onions Everything came out very good and it was GREAT having all that cookin surface (and mess) outside! Thanks for videos!!!

Wow that's a heck of a deal!!! I haven't seen the 4 burner under $300 for a while. Also it sounds like you broke that thing in right! The onion trick from Blackstone Betty is amazing, I think it really sets the griddle up for success. Thanks so much for watching the videos and congrats on your new griddle.

Happy Easter Johnny! Brought my griddle out of hibernation a week before spring began. Once spring became official, it has been barely over 40 here in western PA! Since I "winterized" my Blackstone, I hit the ground running and started feasting immediately. Once again you posted a helpful and informative video. THANKS!

Howdy Johnny, was gonna ask about the cooler however some of the other followers beat me to it...."Happy Little Accidents". Nice to see you prepping the Blackstone for cooking. It will be amazing to see you cooking on your Camp Chef and the Blackstone simultaneously. Nothing wrong with cooking in the garage as long as the door is open, other than the grease that will accumulate on the door and ceiling. Have A Day! ;~)

@JohnnyBrunet with the wire wheel at high rpm you have to be careful when you get near the sides because it will bounce off and come back at you. also wear safety glasses and a heavy shirt as the little wires can fly out of the wheel and get stuck in your shirt.

I did a post in my community tab about it. People gave there experience with it. For me it was extra work Everytime I cooked and I didn't think it was worth it. But some people claim it helped them prevent rust so maybe it's a good option. Go to my page and click on community and you'll see the post.

Nice vid. Where's the Camp Chef? Two thoughts when your griddle is rusty. Throw it out and buy another or scrape the rust off, heat the grill slightly, put oil on it and use a Scotchbrite scouring pad and scrub it. Or use an orbital sander. That BS kit is expensive. thanks for the vid.
@JohnnyBrunet

Johnny, Don't think of it as a garage. It is your Command Center. Hang an old TV on a wall, build a work bench and add a couple of stools for you and lucky Command Center guests. Also add an appropriately stocked cooler. Then you can plan worldwide griddle domination.

why isn't cooking/cleaning the griddle in the garage any different than cooking with a gas/propane stove in the kitchen? i use water and the scraper every time. the stone is good too. Can you say Walmart......lol. wire brush comes in handy sometimes too.....blackstone seasoning is good.....i use crisco too.
@JohnnyBrunet
@JohnnyBrunet 10 ай бұрын
ya the wire brush is definetly the way to go when it's really bad. I don't know exactly why its frowned upon and I'm not expert. But my guess would be greases build up on the walls in the garage. And if there was a flar up or some sort of large fire you are now going to catch your garage and house on fire rather than just your back deck. Again that's just my guess I really have no idea why they say not to. I obviously do it every now and then.
