Really don’t recommend using rinse out conditioners as leave ins for two reasons. One being build up, since the formulations can leave a film (speaking from personal experience). But most importantly, some are formulated with chemicals that are safe for skin contact if they are only in contact for a limited amount of time. Meaning some chemicals NEED to be washed off. Constantly leaving them in might lead to issues like contact dermatitis and allergic reactions, irritation, itch or who knows what else. This is why so many people had problems with products like Olaplex, not following manufacturer instructions.
@milami.2 жыл бұрын
From my personal experience I don’t have any issues leaving it in. I don’t use much product on my hair so buildup is not really an issue.I also don’t apply it to my scalp. I have had dermatitis before but it was from the shampoo I was using. If I have bad reaction to something I know how to make the necessary adjustments. I have been using conditioner as a leave in for years and it works just fine for me. 😊
@sympthylost2 жыл бұрын
@@milami. One thing you mention is you use a little and you use it just on the length of your hair. There are some who will miss that point. They’ll use way too much, apply it to their whole head and leave it on forever and they’ll get the build up issue. My comment is really intended as a disclaimer. Please don’t take it is an attack on you or your regimen by any means. If you’re comfortable doing it and have no issues, that’s ok. I recognize everyone has different experiences. But there are soooo many brands and types of conditioners on the market, with a variety of ingredients. Some might not cause issues, some might. Also allergies can develop over time and people can develop sensitivities they may not know the reason for, even something as common as fragrance can cause dermatitis, certain preservatives, sulfates etc. I actually commented before seeing the part in the video where you mentioned Shea Moisture! But yeah, I just think it’s better to buy a true leave in. For those trying to save money or be minimalist, there are wash out conditioners that state on the label that they can be used as a leave in too. Garnier Fructis has one. Just my two cents. People can also Google this if they wish, there are debates out there listing the pros and cons. You have beautiful hair and a great channel so again, no shade, you definitely know what you’re doing!

As we speak, I am wearing a deep conditioner as a leave in but it is totally because my schedule go too busy to rinse it out. I went and unbraided my hair with the intent to rinse the deep conditioner out and I couldn't believe how soft & moisturized my hair felt, and my twist-out is the best ever. I never knew I could used a deep conditioner as a leave-in, and now, seeing your comment, I just may do this more often! Thanks

Old School Wisdom: Like grains of sand on a beach, each grain is different, see some under a microscope. We each must complete our journey alone, it's not a group thing! With knowledge comes wisdom, opinions will be offered but learn to listen to your own hair which will eventually truly begin the greatest scientific hair experience and you'll learn so much about yourself that you'll trust & love yourself so much, you wouldn't care about what others think, like grains of sand we each will have our own opinion and we'll never agree, we are different! how long is your hair? mines is bra strap length and i have very thick coarse hair it's 3c mixed with 4a. My hair gets so dry & knotted 😣 only thing that helps me is leave in conditioners and grease! And leaving my hair braided or in a bun. Two styles that i don't like that much and wish i can just leave it out without tangling lol
@CoilyCode2 жыл бұрын
@@prettyllady your hair is definitely longer than mine. It goes to the base of my neck. And I also have low porosity, fine, type 4b/c hair. Your hair is high porosity so doing the grease is perfect since your hair most likely can’t hold moisture long. Have you ever thought of a gel perhaps that can assist you with wearing it out? I could imagine you should be able to do a twist out or braid out. Do you deep condition as well?

Depends on the style. I try to keep it pretty simple for the most part. A style like mini twist can take me about 3-4 hours to retwist depending on the size. Larger twist with flat twist in the front can take me about 2 hours to refresh. Washing, blow drying and straightening my hair can take me like 4 hours. It’s definitely a lot of work but you get used to it.

Lol I laughed when I heard leave the conditioner in and not wash it off 🤣. I do the same. My hair is really thick 4c & it just absorbs all of it makes it softer. 🙃 I've never had any issues either. Everything in moderation then a leave in conditioner on top & oil - smooth it up. If you wrap it up overnight like that it's almost like deep conditioning then spray in bw days during the week. Keep wrapping at night to keep moisture. I will often smooth with a middle part & one or 2 buns & a ponytail but nowadays trying to wear it out as my afro, just smooth the perimeter tie it down & fluff middle.
