Great price. Disagree on the dealers advertising their lowest price though. I like to negotiate and feel like I was the one that got the deal done on my terms. From a dealer perspective, advertising a little higher than they'd be willing to accept sometimes works out with someone paying that price. I don't think it's a great strategy.

Kareem Kirton what is a “best price?” That can change depending on what the incentives are from the manufacturer, how much of a loss they are willing to take to meet a quota etc. Sometimes they can take a loss, but they can’t do that all the time otherwise they wouldn’t stay in business. People need to stop using the term “best price,” because it’s meaningless.

The STX package is a great value. It has all the basic equipment that most of us need in a truck without all the extra things that tend to really drive up the price tag. I think this is the best looking exterior trim package that Ford offers, with this unique grill and everything color matched. I was seriously considering the STX super crew with the 5.0 in this same color when I was shopping a few months back. I really like to look of those Falken Wildpeaks, I am pretty sure I will be going with those for my next tire.

This is funny. I live about 30 minutes north of Seattle, WA, and when I was looking to purchase my Ford Focus RS I wound up buying in Missouri and driving it back because it saved me about 15 grand over what they were selling for up here. Obviously not a truck, but I think that the advice of looking in other states is a great idea. A lot of times you can find a dealer that will ship the vehicle to you as well, and even though that might cost around 1k it can save you a ton of money if you live in an area with ridiculous dealer markups (like the entire west coast).

That's why I bought an F-150 too. Ford had a "conquest" program in November which gave me an additional $3K off an XLT that was already $14K off, so $17K or 1/3 off total. I almost got an STX, it's a nice package and one of the best looking. But XLTs with the 302a package are usually only a couple thousand more and give you power heated seats, side steps, remote start, and a few other things.

Great episode. I just purchased a 2019 STX 4x4 5.0L today at a little dealership in Kansas. Shade under $37K with incentives. It has the running boards, locking diff and hitch. Meets all my needs. I can't justify the added cost for power seats, bun warmers, and annoying "safety" technology. I need it to drag a boat and go to the hardware store. I can lift a tailgate myself, manually adjust a seat, and not back into stuff while saving $10-20K. Great review, and this guys gets it. You can get a capable unit without going crazy and dropping $60K for stuff you don't need or use. It's also tough to find good used deals on these trucks right now. I have looked plenty, and you're not seeing the huge drop after 2-3 years like most vehicles. I swore I'd never buy new, until today.

Hey guys, I been following your channel since around 2016 or so, big fan of yours. My wife surprised me with a new truck in March of '17 and after long reviews and input from all of you, I chose the '17 f-150 XLT FX4 crew cab with the coyote engine, 3.55 rear end and the 302a package, best bang for your buck and I have to say, I love everything about my truck. I also did a full LED conversion since I learned that Ford doesn't let you purchase factory LED lights unless you want a high dollar trim. But, for one, if I spent 300 bucks on all of them, is a lot and i did every single bulb including switch backs for the front end. Also, to each their own, but I don't understand why go for the smaller engine options if all you are saving is maybe 4 mpg compared to my average 17 mpg I get out of my v-8. To me it will never be worth sacrificing the feel and sound of the v-8 for a few more miles to the gallon. I have tried to like them, even got a V-6 rental while mine was being serviced at one point, and it just doesn't compare to their bigger engine. Anyways, look forward to all of your future reviews and content.

Torque Pro app says 401HP and 473 Torque. I just towed a covered 6X12' trailer on a 4 1/2 hour trip through the hill country with 12,000 miles on the odometer and I got 13 MPG from 60-75 MPH. Hello again Roman! Once again nice job with a video! That’s is a nice Ford, about what I would buy, except I’d go with the 5.0 V8, just for long term resale. I never heard you could go in with the right equipment, to change so many parameters, like turn signal flashes. In my 2019 Colorado Crew Cab 4x4, V6, like all late model Chevys, when you apply the Tow/Haul mode, the tap to flash goes from the regular 3 flashes, to 6 flashes, that’s handy. I have also installed the Bilstein 5100 series RHA Strut//Shocks, I also set mine at 1.9”, to keep a little rake, because I tow a 26’, 4,500-6,400lbs travel trailer with ease. The best part of the Bilstein design is the fact that unlike strut spaces, that only raise the vehicle up with the original struts, the Bilstein is designed a bit longer than original, with length and travel added, so whatever setting you use to raise, also gives you the same amount in extra suspension travel! All with superior dampening, all while still using the original springs for a decent ride.

Great interview -- Travis is building something that I'll bet he'll be into for more than a few years. It'll have 370K on it before he lets it go... unless Ford offers an electric retrofit for F150s! After he has it set up, he'll tow a jeep. Thanks for the quality stuff.

I've had bad luck with P-rated tires in the past on my last F150. I went through 3 new tires due to trail damage in about 1 month, and since then, I will only ever install LT tires on an off road vehicle. If it's a macho on-road truck it probably doesn't matter, but for a real off road truck LT tires are a must even on a lighter truck like a 4Runner, Taco or Xterra. I've had Duratrac LT tires on my Xterra for 65k miles with zero issues, which is by far the best results I've ever had.

TFL Truck >>> excellent video! I like the fact that this buyer knew ___exactly___ what he wanted and got everything with a discount or a reduced price. [If you remember in a previous "Dude I Love/Hate ... bla" that dude with the Subaru seemed like he didn't had his heart in it and it seemed like EVERYTHING was a darn compromise and everything he did/bought/modified seemed like a BAD BAD idea]. I've always found that the STX is the sweet-spot for me. It has everything that I need and nothing extra that I don't need and the price is competitive. Not everybody can go out and buy one of those $70k, $80k, $90k+ pickups and go home. I'm going to re-view this video and carefully note the individual items that this intelligent purchaser bought: headlights, shocks, etc. Thank you for the share!

the only reason trucks are that expensive is because business owners can write off the cost in taxes leaving small business owners and normal people out completely
@misterrobert67995 жыл бұрын
yes he knew EXACTLY what he wanted and got it. then proceeded to change lights, tires, wheels, suspension, bed liner, wiring, badging. im surprised he left the original engine.

What a great video … learned a lot, just got my 2019 STX love it , I got the 3.5 Eco Boost though, both 2.7 and 3.5 are like having a sportscar, kickbutt towing and get you thru pretty much all common weather and off ride within reason, and get kickbutt gas mileage

I just bought a 2016 f-150 with 3.5 liter eco boost engine. don't believe the mileage ratings advertised. I only get a little over 16 on highway, not 23...

Is it just me or does the paint quality look amazing...seems like Ford must have stepped up their game. Even under the glare of all those bright lights it looked flawless with zero orange peel.

Kind of how I purchased my 2018 Edge Sport! I found one 360 miles from my home town for $39,950 (Fully loaded MSRP $49, 975). So I went to my local Ford dealership and told them is they could sell me one just like it for the same price, I would buy from them. They found one and I saved $10,000.

I've had my 18 STX for a year and my only complaint is the lack of power folding mirrors. To get that, you need to rewire stuff and there's nothing that's plug and play for the 8 pin connector this trim has. Other than that, I've loved every moment of owning it. I drive about 25 miles a day round trip to and from work, and that's usually on eco mode. It averages about 20 mpg with about 50/50 highway/city diving. My days off I save the sport or normal modes for. The exterior styling us also what drew me in, like Travis said. I myself dislike every other trim because of the grilles. The STX is really the best bang for your buck. I just wish I had this leadfoot gray instead of white, but I don't mind the white at all. Nice video review all around!

That color is great and I normally don’t like cabs on trucks. I think with the short cab, longer bed and color matched cap, the proportions just look right.

I got the f150 5.0L in lightning Blue with the special edition package. I put a borla atak on it and love my truck. Sounds awesome... I agree with Travis the only thing I dislike is the autostart stop... I heard you can also get the SCT tuner and not only get HP and TRQ gains but also turn that off as well. P.S the SCT tuner can program your truck for better fuel economy as well in addition to performance and you can bring it back to stock when you bring it in for service

I have a magma red 2018 STX supercrew. Min also is 4x4 and has the 2.7L ecoboost. I got mine used last week. I LOVE MY TRUCK! I traded out of a 2006 XLT that I drove for 15 years. I believe in keeping something once you get it paid for. The only reason I traded out of was because I wanted four wheel drive. Anyway, I'm quite happy with it.

He really got me rethinking the small engine option. I still love the idea of the simple and reliable 5.0. I have 3 kids so I still need a crew cab. I want an STX 4x4 with that auto stop delete program. (Foreskin?)

I watch your stuff all the time mixflip! The 2.7 is a great motor. I know there are some haters on here but I think it will be a very reliable engine. It has a CGI (compacted graphite iron) block just like the super duty powerstroke does, or the new gen Cummins. It also has port and direct injection for 2018 that solves the main issue with the old 2.7s. They actually classify the 2018+ 2.7 a second generation now. I think it's funny when people hate on the turbos talking about when they go out, and then recommend a diesel. They have turbos too bro! How often do you hear people bitching about those going out?

I bought a 2018 f150 XLT 4x4 4 door last year. Went in to check out the 2017's with the 3.5 mated to the 10 speed but decided to test drive the 5.0 and 2.7 2018s as well. The 2.7 drove the smoothest and for my application for the truck, it is my daily driver and driving to work ( I work behind a desk) and not going to tow much at all, the 2.7 easily handles what I've thrown in the back to haul. My best fuel economy is around 23 (in dash says 24, I notice anywhere from 0.5 - 1.5 mpg difference at the pump less than the onboard computer). That is also go 60 mph how about a 40 mile round trip to work and back home. I notice the on board computer absolutely loves city driving around 45 mpg, usually puts the truck in 7th or 8th gear and tells me that my fuel economy is better then when I am in 10th gear going 60 mph. I wouldn't think that is correct but the gearing for the 10 speeds are really well mapped out in my opinion. Here in KC this winter, we had a blizzard and multiple snow storms and on the stock tires I've had great traction and haven't needed to throw any weight in the back either. I am pleasantly surprised with the truck every time I take it out so far. Well, until the no GPS sign started popping up every time I drive but I have an appointment with my local Ford dealer so hopefully they can fix that. I still get wowed by the new trucks coming out but my 2.7L F150 XLT 4x4 still feels like it is the best fit for me and what I use the truck for.
