I have really suffered with negative emotions that I get due to failing to connect emotionally to my wife, and yet she is an incredible person one I wouldn't want to lose, all was ok in 4 yrs dating period. Just after marriage things turned upside down. I feel stressed depression etc. I need your help please.

Awww so happy to hear that you were able to take ownership and fight for your relationship by turning inward & finding grace. "It's a beautiful thing when you can learn to love so well you can teach others." Thank you for sharing Monika❤

Monika, you are such a kind and giving person, you have helped countless marriages. Thank you so much for this message, it is just what I needed to hear at this exact moment. My marriage is like a dry and dusty half condemned library, I have nothing to look forward to, you're making me realize that I have got to apply myself and put my energy in, we also have children in the mix and that makes me want to live my life with integrity and sincerity and to do what I can to make things better not only for myself but for everyone involved. Thank you

Oh my, I’m trying to do this exact thing. The reconnection pull is definitely rough. A dried out piece of beef jerky, yeah, that’s the interior feels.

1:34 Amazing. A therapist that can own that she could integrate what she knows in theory, better in her own life! If we could all take that perspective, our relationships would improve so much. Thanks for this content 🙌

Your advice and insight is prob the most undervalued on the internet 👏🏼👏🏼

Women tend to overthink and act immediately. Whereas, men often want to take time to think through an issue. While a man is still thinking through a problem it seems like a woman is already onto the next problem that needs solving. I think both ways of thinking have their benefits but not so much when a couple is targeting one another. There needs to be some grace, like you said, with each other.

I’m so happy you worked things out. I’m proud of you. I don’t think I can fix my marriage on my own. My wife is dealing with trying to heal. She got all her memories of past relationship abuse. In year 14 of our marriage her memories came back w/all the flashbacks ect. She has CPTSD and is so distant now. She is finally in therapy but feels she needs to heal alone

Omg thank you soooo much for sharing! You are so right! I remembered in the past I was so done with my relationsship and then I focussed on myself. After a few months it was already much better. But now I need to do it again, great and so specific advise! And thank you for being honest that even a therapist can be in a difficult time with a partner! Thank you, I needed this! 🙏🏻❤

Please address how to handle a situation when I do go to my husband, tell him what I need and what upset me after a bad fight but he is still unresponsive. It's always me coming to him to try and make the repair happen. It tells me he doesn't care. It really hurts and makes me mad.

I’m glad it worked for you, I think it’s important to remember that if two people are emotionally, mature, and healthy that all these concepts will work well unfortunately with women who are dealing with narcissist any and all of the suggestions simply will not work, that has been my experience.

So you basically started treating him like an adult and his own person and he responded positively? And he wasn't stiffled anymore and was free to be himself.

Wow, this is just what I’ve been looking for! Thank you for sharing! One question, when you listed the 4 types at the end (that this approach probably won’t work with)…where does ASD level 1 fit into that (or not)?

This seems to be what Ive been doing but he just doesn’t care that things are bad 😑 I need more work with boundaries for sure though and learn to ask for exactly what I want but my experience so far is that I get made wrong for always stating what I need or what I can or can’t or won’t tolerate ugh it’s been 20 years of crap

This sounds like just being ok with doing the lions share, being ok with him never putting in effort. Change perspective to think I should be teaching my sons man things. I just don’t agree with this. I can do this alone, why do it with him still here?

Sounds like the same advice you give someone who is trying to get an ex boyfriend back. It's hard.
