I am living in Chengdu, Sichuan province, China since 2018. Alimony and divorce laws are heavily tilted in favour of women in India. In China divorce laws are gender neutral and the divorce process is easy , quick with no legal hassles. In China single mother's, divorcee women, single women are not looked down upon in society. Women are far more independent in China. Women's participation in workforce is far higher than in India. Women are much more safer in China.

I grew up in China in 80’s. Back then, divorce was rare. Children from divorced families were looked down and ridiculed. Now many of my classmates back there have more than one marriage or divorced. The society has changed so much beyond recognition from hardware to software. One thing for sure, people there are much happier than before.

The McMahon Line was a product of that period, and the Chinese government never recognized it. Faced with disputes, we could have sat down and negotiated to resolve them, but India has never considered handling them properly. Perhaps India needs this dispute to influence elections and lead public opinion.

China is light years ahead of India. Lets be honest. Though we do see some positive changes in India, these are insufficient. The infrastructure sucks. Local government / law enforcement remains weak. Hygiene / cleanliness is a major issue. Congestion is causing pollution. We may have become more digital. But thats again a software thing. What we need is hardware --Infrastructure (roads / bridges / flyovers / transport / housing etc)

China went through a long process of humiliation and persecution , and enlightenment, development over nearly two centuries. One should see the horrific past China had gone through amid all kind of colonial invasion and nowadays US sanction which only force China to be self reliance and develop their own paths . Grew up in the US and I have always been taught to believe in "democracy." but recently, I saw that democracy doesn't move the country forward. You can call it discussions, you can call it bickering, but no one is willing to give up their interests and politicians are often controlled by oligarchs. So effectively, the country is moving forward at snail's pace. Forget calling China a communist country. It is de facto a socialist system, just they don't change their name. Judge not by its name but by its action. Whatever, may be China is a dictatorship, but things get done.
