What advice about self-publishing on Amazon can you add?

If you want to print physical books be very careful because KDP can lock you into digital only.

I published my book on Amazon KDP. The problem is advertising. No one can see my book if no one knows it exists.

ISBN stands for International Standard Book Number - in Canada they are free but you have to pay for it in the U.S. An ISBN is not required for e-books but is required for paperbacks and hardcovers. I am going to self-publish this month and I learned so much when I took Sarra Cannon's 6 week online Publish & Thrive course.

Curious about the dynamics of self-publishing vs having an agent sell your material!! Do agents make more money in the long run for you, or does the self publishing element offset an agent's commission? (Amazon takes a commission too...and what about selling the film rights?)

If you use KDP, mentally prepare yourself in advance for the possibility of your account being arbitrarily deleted without any reason given by them. All you'll get is a automated boiler plate bs email that explains nothing.

Keep in mind that if you make any income in the US, you will have to pay US taxes on it even if you live outside the US.
