Totally understandable why you prefer this filter as suppose to a lens attachment.. It‘s so satisfying to close and open the camera, i honestly wouldn‘t want to have one extra step between that satisfaction 😅.. But lens attachments can be cool for other things, so i might buy one anyway..

I always turn the dial 1/3 to the dark side. I do the same when I'm using SX-70 film on the SX-70 camera. They tend to overexpose if the dial is in the middle unless the light conditions are perfect.

Glad you didn't! SX-70 is great but being able to use cheaper 600 film is clutch.

It seems like putting a wavy piece of plastic over the focus plane would effect sharpness. Is that not the case?

No, because it flattens out once inserted into the spring-loaded cartridge. It can, however, slip if it's not secure.

I'm so close to purchasing an SX-70 but the only thing I'm stuck on is the film back! Are there any cons to the original SX-70 film?

Theres no film back for the model I use. Just a slot like regular polaroid cameras. The cons to the film are subjective but you may consider that sx-70 film is a different sensitivity than 600. The model in this video has a sonar autofocus but older versions were fully manual. So make sure you have the accessories you need to properly expose your shot.

Hi. Could you tell me please. Can I somehow use SX 70 film in the SLR 680? Thanks. I have 2 SX 70's that don't work. 1 SLR 680 and 1 SX 70 film. Fixing will cost more than I have right now, so I'm looking at the option to use the SX 70 film in SLR 680. If you could please let me know.

Hey sorry to hear about the SX-70s. The SLR-680 should only shoot 600 film. It would be easier for 600 film to go into the SX-70 with an ND filter since you can compensate for the higher iso film to a slower speed film. 600 film is 640 iso and SX-70 is 160 so if you do use the pack it might be over exposed.

super informative video! you mentioned ND filters for the lens itself -- what models do you recommend? will they attach straight on, or do you need some sort of adapter?

The model I use is just a sheet. The link the description. I used another version that attached to the from of the camera made by MINT and should be available on Polaroid's website.

Yes it would be over exposed if you didnt compensate for the extra sensitive film. You might have some luck in a darker setting.

I'm getting the mint lens set AND the ND Filters for the packs and was wondering if I should use my nd filter lens AND the nd filter screen at the same time or not? Would that be overkill? Thanks

That might be over kill but it would be a cool experiment. Polaroids love light so if you’re in a super bright situation and using sensitive film then it might be the move to double up. And since the Mint ND filter is over the lens you can just take it off if the shot is too dark.

The camera's exposure compensation dial is about 1.5 stops both ways. Not without a hack to your cartridge. The i-type film doesn't have a battery in the cartridge so the camera won't have any charge.
