Thank you, man! 🙏 First, shit happens - even for the best in the world. And second, yes, punching is becoming more and more important because crossers are getting better and better and the balls are getting lighter and faster 👊 Thanks for your feedback, it means a lot❤

Another great video. Thanks. I love the part about not being afraid to make mistakes. I always say mistakes are good, especially in training, as it shows you are pushing your limits, going out of your comfort zone and trying to learn.

@@Beardmorebros Thank you, man 🙏 And I couldn't agree more... The only way to test your limits and LEARN (especially with crosses) is to start making some mistakes. Staying inside your comfort zone is easy but it doesn't improve you ☺️

Great tips man.❤ What other advices do you have for short keepers? Because for me it's hard to act well in crosses.
@GroundGloryGoalkeeping6 ай бұрын
@@MFooty Thanks man! 🙏 Of course, it's easier to claim crosses when you're bigger but being smaller shouldn't limit you THAT much - you just have to be a bit smarter. 1) Instead of going through players, you can go around them. 2) Work on your punches - accept that catching crosses in crowded areas will be difficult but getting a fist to it is not. Most tall goalkeepers also do this anyways. 3) Work on timing, explosiveness, jump height and catching balls at highest point 4) Choose your battles without shying away. Test and expand your limit. Bravery (both mentally and physically) and timing are still the most important things no matter how tall or small you are. Reality is that most claims will be uncontested (no challenge), and if you can get your timing right, it (ALMOST) doesn't matter how tall you are... (almost..) I've seen countless taller goalkeeper being defensive in their mind and vice versa for smaller gks. If you're not going for the ball, it doesn't matter how tall you are ☺️ Hope this makes sense! 🙏

@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping Thank you so much, it really helped me. But would you please explain a bit more about the first tip?
@GroundGloryGoalkeeping6 ай бұрын
@@MFooty Of course. What I mean was that you have to be smart when you choose your path to the ball. If you feel that your height and strength/weight limits you from outmuscling and smashing through players, you can become better recognizing and finding little gaps either in front or just behind players to avoid physical contact. Fx. in corner kicks where the attacker is looking to touch/block you, you can step away and find different paths to the ball instead of taken the physically duel head (like I probably would, given my height and weight). Difficult to explain in writing but hopefully, this makes sense. 🙏

For the corners where the taker's foot is the one they can use to curl it in, how do you quickly move from the line to the edge of the six through a massive crowd to claim the cross. In my recent match today, there was alwas a playeer keeping a body on me during corners and a huge crowd where the ball was targeted
@GroundGloryGoalkeeping4 ай бұрын
In this situation, it's often smarter to just start on your line. If it's too crowded or there's a player body checking you, it's very difficult to come out of your goal. But of course, you still need to cover some area but don't go too far out. You'll often just end up with causing more confusing.
@VirKap994 ай бұрын
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping In all the crosses when he was on the foot to be able to curl it, I stayed on the line and didn't venture out. Luckily none of their headers were on target but are there any drills you did to be able to quickly judge the ball, and quickly move past strong crowds and safely get the cross?
@GroundGloryGoalkeeping4 ай бұрын
It's so difficult to train. It's so much about timing, bravery, and practicing (having been in the situation often). But training with obstacles or players in front of you helps and contact. If you just have a guy serve in crosses, it's almost too easy but it's not really match related. But on the other hand, that's a great way of practicing your timing and catching the ball at its highest point.

Am not good at punching balls i use my palm to clear which won't go that far when i can't catch
@GroundGloryGoalkeeping6 ай бұрын
@@LanaHunter-m3k Punching takes practice like everything else. The great thing is that you can train it yourself. Just throw a ball up into the air, use your right hand 10 times, your left hand 10 times, and both hands 10 times. Do this a few time a week and you'll improve your punches 💪

Who's the best goalkeeper in the world when dealing with crosses?
@GroundGloryGoalkeeping6 ай бұрын
Neuer is really good. Probably not as good as he was but he's amazing. But I'd say Donnarumma. He's fantastic at handling crosses. Him and Courtois :)
