Hi, diamond painting friends! Today I'm stopping in to share some quick, easy, and inexpensive options for storing finished and unfinished diamond paintings in a variety of sizes. I think one of the trickiest parts of diamond painting is figuring out how to efficiently store a growing stash, especially a growing collection of finishes!
If you have tips or tricks for storing your canvases, please drop a comment below. I would love to hear what other options this creative community has come up with!
Finish shown in today's video:
I'm Half Sick of Shadows by John William Waterhouse (public domain),
custom canvas in 60x80 cm square

Thank you for sharing!! I use boxes to make mine. Open the top and bottom, lay flat and tape the bottom closed! This way you can have massive ones for free if you already have them! We made these in art class in high school for our paintings.

Hi! Thanks for sharing! I use cardboard for smaller and medium size with parchment paper in between each one put them in a pillow case and use the pants hanger and hang them in the closet, put different color nail polish on each hanger so I can tell which is complete and which isn't. and for larger, the same way only wrapped well in a sheet. I don't have much space in our mobile home, so had to come up with some space saving ideas. lol.

Finally catching up! Great ideas! I keep ones I haven’t started in the original box. Some I have on hangers but I got the felt lined skirt hangers off amazing so they won’t leave teeth marks in them… however your hanger idea is probably way more economical. I have a few portfolios I got off Amazon for my smaller kits that are finished… and then of course my absolute fav ones get framed

I keep my finished paintings in a storage box that my dad made me. It can fit most of my panintings. The really large panintings, I just roll up and put back in their boxes. I also just recently bought a couple of portfolios to display some of my finished paintings. I don't open up my paintings, until I start them, so they stay in their boxes. I've stored my Diymoonshops a few ways. I've kept them rolled up in the cardboard tube they came in or in extra boxes. I now have a few of their artist tubes, so I store them in there. The good thing about those tubes is you can wrap several paintings around each other and fit them in one tube.

Great ideas, I'm getting those trifolds! THANK YOU!! I reuse the boxes and tubes too. I store my small canvases (30×40 or 30x30) that I'll work on in the future in a portfolio w/clear pages. I can leaf thru and find a canvas for an event/holiday/special shape, I can clearly see how many colors, how much confetti/multiplacing there is. I write where I got it/price/year on the back and store the drills separately with a sticker w/the kit # and description on the bags of drills. I store finished small ones in another portfolio. Generally I can fit 60 dps in each book. Hope that helps someone else. 🤗

Good tips! I recently decided to buy clear storage containers and unbox unfinished kits and store to save space. The containers hold quite a number of kits and can be stacked. I only stack as high as two. Can get heavy. The extremely large canvases I left packed in the original box. I also hang finished canvases and unfinished canvases as you shared in video. I purchased a couple of portfolios that hold up to about 25 canvases. These are for completed canvases only. That way I can go back and enjoy viewing them if not framed. I am always looking for a way to manage my “stuff” and. it not manage me. 😂

For finished pictures, I have an artist portfolio case with cardboard or foam board on either side of the canvasses. The case is zippered with a handle. It is about 3 feet by 2 and a half high. The case will stand fine, but could lay flat.

I roll them drills out so the pressure doesn't make the drills pop. This is more important with squares of course. :)

Ooh, cool! I love that one! They can be pricey to frame, but if you love it it's totally worth it. I have used clip frames too, which are a bit less expensive and work really well. Quadro does them in custom sizes I think. I've also used pictureframes.com, and they have nice quality.

Great ideas. Never would have known about the tri-fold display board and taping the foam board together for storage. I do have a question for your viewers who are limited in space. How do they save pictures they are working on. My. dps are all small so I save them in the box with my light tray while working on them. but don’t know how to protect them if larger. I live with my niece so need to put everything away when done for the day. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Hi, Barbara! If I have to put my larger WIPS away, I roll them up drills out and either put them back in the box or put a rubber band around them and store them upright in a place as free of dust as possible. :)

I store all my small 30x40s in progress/finished/or new in a portfolio book with the clear pages. They generally will hold 60 dps of that size, (30×30, 30x40s). You can store your unopened packs of drills in a separate container labeled with the kit # and name on them. I also had to come up with a system for limited space. The Elizabeth Ward storage containers are nice and flat and if I'm not using all the 40+ little containers inside, I take the largest ones out and use that space to store my pens, wax, tray, and tips. You can still put the cover on and it takes up very little space. Hope that helps. 😊

So the trifold board, would that be a good way for storing in progress paintings? I have small children, so I wouldn't be able to leave it out on a work surface.
@tinyworldsofwonder
@tinyworldsofwonder Жыл бұрын
I would think so, yes! As long as the adhesive is fully covered before you put it inside no cardboard touches the sticky surface, and as long as you have a flat place to lay it, I think it would be a great option! I also roll mine up drill side out and rubber band them when they're in progress sometimes and that works well too. 🥰

I keep all mine in boxes until they’re finished, but once I’ve finished or if they don’t have a box, I use the Closet Maid wire shelving and curtain clips instead of the pants hangers. I hang them sideways on the shelf (so they are flat against the wall) and the wire sections with the clips allow me to hang them from corners without them flopping over. I wish I could share pictures here, because it’s kinda hard to explain, but I have room to hang at least 100 or more (depends on weight really) in a 4’ wall space.

I have a question for you but it’s not about storing paintings. I’m fairly new to DP and I love it!! However I am working on one that I love but you can’t see much detail one it. It is 60x45. How do you know how big to get a kit to be able to see the detail? I have several small ones that are clear but I read somewhere that the smaller they are the less detail you can see.do you have any suggestions? Thank you!
@tinyworldsofwonder
@tinyworldsofwonder 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Peggy! This is a great question! The ideal size for a diamond painting depends greatly on the art itself. The smaller and more detailed the individual elements are in the artwork, the larger it will need to be rendered as a diamond painting. I did a video about this a good while ago now, but it might help to answer your question if you feel like checking it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2nKh6GddpWbirM If there's no preview on the seller's site, I sometimes run a screen shot through a cross stitch program like Thread Bare Designer at different sizes just to see what looks best. :) I hope this helps!

@tinyworldsofwonder I've kinda constructed something but still not big enough. But I'm not using it in the traditional sense. I have some storage containers under my bed. I lay the canvas on them and cover it with foam board. I'm really just worried about dust and cat hair getting into the crevasse. It works for now, but I really wish they sold portfolios that big lol.
