Katie, you really hit the nail on the head when you mentioned "easier" majors and # of credits! I remember feeling pressured to take a lot of credits during my first semester at Cornell (which didn't end ideally), and constantly hearing that some majors/colleges were easier than others... However, I can say with 100% certainty now that I've experienced a year at Cornell that each major and course load presents its own challenges. Some classes may be heavy in readings and others may be heavy in problem sets. Regardless of class or curriculum, the main takeaway is that every path at Cornell is difficult, but the rewards we reap from this journey are immense :)

For computer science, my Achilles heel has always been assembly language programming - I even tried a masters level class several years ago with graphics and multi core intel processors and had the same negative experience as with ibm 360 code trying to simulate a pdp-11 processor at Cornell.

Wow, Katie! I definitely agree with you on so many points, but especially the pre-professional culture! I go to UCLA and it definitely feels pressured when everyone asks about internships. Freshman year, I took the summer to volunteer teach and never regretted it, but a lot of people were asking why I didn't do an internship instead...??? totally relate! Thanks for speaking out!

The course enrollment system at my school is ... An experience, the least. We have to run, literally run, after the professor in order to give them a sheet of paper in which they accept us in their class. Then, and just then, we can enroll the class in the system. The methods the professors decide which students they accept are as strict as GPA and number of credit, or as random as lotteries. This online semester they modified it to an online lottery. It was not the best, but at least a little less stressing.

Hi Katie! I had a question about what you said for the course registration part of the vid; I'm a rising freshman, and my course registration happened in early June. I didn't get the courses that I would like, so could I just like email the prof of that class I want and asked to be placed on the waitlist or see if they could squeeze me in? (this particular class doesn't have an official waitlist doe) thanks in advance!

Why should laundry be free?
@MaeMercado4 жыл бұрын
@@hangtime716 I think she mentioned it in the video that the tuition fee is expensive already and laundry cost (those coins or swipes on the card) accumulates over time. Some universities like UIUC don't ask for payments for using laundry machines in university housing (for residents).

What are credits Katie??? Sending love from Argentina 🇦🇷
@KatieTracy4 жыл бұрын
"A course credit is a unit that gives weighting to the value, level or time requirements of an academic course taken at a school or other educational institution." Each course is usually 3-4 credits, and students take an average of 15 credits per semester. We're required to graduate with 120 credits over the course of our 4 years in university! AH sending you love from the PH too!😊🇵🇭

I love how you said and highlight really in your videos that the next and only step after college is a high paying profession, although that could be so attractive hehehe. But yet again, our life doesn't revolve around 1 work or profession. But I do believe though that until you find that one thing you're so passionate about, money is but a bi-product. And everything comes along, and you can do it all day. And HEYYY, totally with mental health. Once this is not set up and taken care of, get ready for the next break down to come near. AND SPIRITUAL HEALTH IS KEY, I can say, it is central to every health may it be emotional, mental or even physical, it's what keeps you alive. YOU SHOULD DO A VIDEO SOLEY ON THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SPIRITUAL HEALTH IN YOUR ENDEAVORS!
