Definitely. Romanization butchers the proper Korean pronunciation.

I don’t like using romanization. I find it more confusing than reading 한글
@juztkei

@b u b b l y y I feel like it's actually easier to not butcher Japanese pronunciation through relying on romanization than it is to butcher Korean. Japanese is generally easier for native English speakers so if you understand the pronunciations of consonants are different you're fine. 😄 (Of course, you STILL shouldn't rely on romanization anyway.)
@depressedteadepressoespres186
@depressedteadepressoespres186 3 жыл бұрын
@@juztkei Nah, things like っ and う are butchered a lot in Romaji since these are (sometimes for the う) tonal changes. I literally saw an argument break out between 2 people because in romaji apparently っ or ッ (both are the same one is just in katakana form) is represented as the letter before or after it, for example the people in the argument were deciding what was the correct writing for the n-word (Ik... it’s dumb) and the person using romaji said it was ニッガ although that’s not correct but they thought that because in romaji it translates to nigga so they thought it was. Also I’ve noticed in Romaji people put apostrophes in it? Idk why and if it doesn’t affect anything but it’s just weird. But ye for the most part it’s fine if we’re talking about non tonal changing characters, but when it does it’s not the best thing. Also not really the best thing to use for reading/texting but that’s kinda obvious ig so idk why I’m adding it but here 🤣

Personally I recommend attending language school or if you're in college, take it as an elective. It forces you to study, has structure and a teacher, not to mention learning buddies. Just like we know math eventhough it is boring af, school drills it into you. I know many people who procrastinated or were unmotivated when self-studying languages for years, which if they had joined a language program would have became fluent by now.

Hello I’m native Korean and just want to say thank you for your love and passion to my language. you did a little mistake 덜러요(x) 떨려요(o) and got say it bolder. I know it could be hard to north anericans and English users. And that Korean thing like the ~-ish tones are a bit unnatural compared to natives but you speak really well. You sound cute. Love and support! Koreans love who works hard and show efforts (even tho they are not perfect). You’ll get a lot of love from Koreans that you’ll meet.

I so so recommend KZbin channel Miss Vicky. She teaches everything about a topic, not like "oh i'll make a video about it later." but really everything so you don't have to jump video to video to understand things. I don't know about others, but I like to cover everything about a topic. That's why some of her videos are bit long but it's ok for me.
