God bless you Joseph. I am so sorry for what you went through in terms of abuse. In terms of your theological path, i went through something very similar. Born and raised N.O. fell away. "Converted" to trad cat. contemplated sede but realized how ridiculous it was after a short period of time. Almost joined to a trad monastery after several visits. Didn't join because i had a random inkling about Orthodoxy. Spent a year studying the theological differences. Became an Ortho Catechuman this year in ROCOR jurisdiction. Best decision I've ever made, no exaggeration. I'm at peace, finally... I am not comparing my personal experience to yours at all as you really went through hell to arrive at the truth. May God grant you many years brother

Your critique comes from experience, thus valuable. Orthodoxy takes time, time to shed the Cath/Prot dialectic. Its not just different rules, which RCs love, but a different mind. ( U know this Joseph. Im writing for the newbies). The further u go east, the weirder Rome looks. The crazier the papacy looks, tho its pretty crazy with francis. Hey, today is St Alexis of Wilkes-Barre. He's our guy too, Joseph. RC bishops let him down. I thought the byz cath world would work for me. Its a good transition. It lets you play church while u read orthodox books. But its not the real thing. Eventually, like St Alexis, u gotta go see a Russian bishop!

Thank you Joseph! My heart feels for you. I’m most at home in the ROCOR but I attend an OCA church up here in Sonora. Our priest has been moved by our Archbishop after 3 great years to a bigger church and we have no replacement yet! We are all rather sad and scared! Thank God there’s a new women’s ROCOR monastery up here in Sonora. You would like Mother Catherine there I think. The church is almost finished. I hope you can meet her someday. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Christ is risen! Thank you for another valuable video. Not finished yet, but I just wanted to note that St John of Kronstadt did not have any children. 52:10 He had a celibate marriage, unlike most priests.

Christ is risen! Blessed Bright Week to all my Orthodox brothers and sisters and to you, Joseph. There is one holy, Catholic and apostolic Church and it has two lungs. Among other things, the schism cannot be the will of God and a way to true unity must be possible. The Orthodox have preserved tradition admirably but have issues too, of course. These evil days will eventually cause a reckoning and the apostasy in the Western Church will be addressed and then, perhaps brothers can look to dwelling in unity again.

I used to attend the TLM at St Margaret Mary in Oakland 2006-2014 occasionally with my moms best friend after I dragged them out of the Hindu cult that said you could have “Jesus Plus.” He had grown up Mormon. Sad to say he’s still RC. I gave him the book by Abbe Gutee “The Papacy” which had helped me leave RC. Fr Peter Heers is republishing that book soon. It’s in the public domain.

If you want a traditional Cathoic Mass in English with no drag aspect you can watch St Thoomas 5th Ave. It is an Episcopal church with an outstanding choir.

I would like for someone to define "traditional Catholicism" because in my experience it's more of an identity politik than anything of meaningful substance.

St John of Kronstadt didn’t have grandchildren I’m pretty sure. After he married he and his wife lived in total continence for their whole life together…at least that’s what I read.

When you said you had an “infused” desire for authentic Christianity which turned you away from RC, I resonated with that! I recall reading about “infused” prayer, probably in St Teresa of Avila… I wonder if the experience of an insight being “infused” corresponds with the term theoria in EO. It feels like that’s when an insight is placed into your Nous and you KNOW the idea or knowledge you rather suddenly receive did not come from yourself. It may be from the Holy Spirit! So many nudgings eventually steered me away from RC…thank God! This is a great stream. Thank you Joseph!

The Society of St. Peter pastor in my city was arrested two years ago because he was trading child sexual abuse photos and videos on the internet and had a large number of those materials on his computer.

My Dad was so crushed by the modernization of V2 that he just left and plunged headlong into Berkeley CA hedonism. His children followed along in his wake to our moral destruction for decades… I’m so grateful God allowed me to discover and come into EO at age 56. It’s never too late to find the Fullness of Truth, Beauty and Goodness. And ongoing continual repentance!

"traditional Catholicism" is fundamentalistic at its core.
@springinfialta1067 ай бұрын
I've noticed that the more traditional the form of Catholicism is the more it mimics an odd form of Calvinism where so many rules must be adhered to and so few will be saved.

Joseph mentioned in the video what I have thought for a long time, that TLM folks are not using this liturgy to worship but rather worshiping the Liturgy itself. For me I went from novus ordo to TLM to Byzantine to Byzantine "monasticism" before I realized that Catholicism is total emptiness aside from the externals.

2:42 My friend, you need to marry and raise a family. Redirect your attention and bring joy and happiness into your life through service to wife and children instead of all this negativity.

What about single adult people? Not all people are made to be married with kids and God does not plan for each believer to marry So what does a single adult have to do?

So calling out real problems equals "negativity" in your mind? Does scripture say it's better to be married or unmarried?

It's less problematic than the road less travelled, so to speak.
