Swatching is my jam! It’s the first thing I do when I get new paints. I’ve done something similar on scrap bits of my favourite paper and I keep it with my tubes that I sort by colour (brand doesn’t matter). It’s a fluid thing that is forever changing how I do it.

I own 30 paints. I have swatches with all of my paints showing it mixed with every other of my paints. It's a lot of swatch cards, but I found treasure. And I don't mix the same two colors twice, that would be nuts.

Thank you so much for sharing. I have accumulated a small collection but don’t really know them. What I mean is I don’t know how they will react on the paper with different amounts of water etc. I think this is a study that I definitely need to take the time to complete. I believe understanding the different properties would definitely help when making new paint purchases. Have you ever ordered a paint tube or set online /art store and be totally disappointed when you swatch it? This has happened to me a couple of times and I purchase Windsor & Newton professional or Daniel Smith. Mistakes add up…lol.

I swatched my watercolors like that and put the little cards in a plastic soccer trading card folder,now I can just go through the folder and look for the color

This was a great video and a big project itself for you. But it makes so much sense, I get lost on my paints (and I have about - only 30 I am guessing), so having the cards and keeping it organized like that is a great idea. Do you do mixes also, or do you work mostly with the color itself?
