Inspiring stuff! Love the fact you run to work. I currently try to run once a week and there and back sometimes (12.5 miles each way). If not I cycle. I have an Ironman in August so will use your video to push me to do more week day run commutes I think. I'm keen to run 30 miles+ in training if I can I just need to pace it slower then try to start fitting in 50% longer runs every few weeks. Thanks for sharing. Matt UK

Sounds like some tough training Matt. 25 mile run commute days is bad ass! Good luck in your preparations for your Ironman!

Sure you gonna do great in the race. Weather should be good for next weekend, it has been breezy lately but last few days turned a bit hot. Now time to take it easy and be fresh ;)

Hey Harry love you videos mate. Maybe you can help me with a question? I am planning on running my second Marathon this year on the Gold Coast in July and I find it really hard to work out the pace I should run it at. I have run a 1:34 half a while back and a 1:06 15k in December. So I guess I'm good for a 3:30 about, but I'm really struggling with what to gage the pace I should run a marathon at. I find it really hard to get a handle on this from my training and racing. Sorry this is a little long winded. But, I'm guessing this is a question many new to marathons struggle with.

Got Buckleys take your half marathon time multiply by two then add ten minutes. then split your half marathon goal times for the marathon to where the first half is faster then the second.

www.mcmillanrunning.com/ try this pace calculator. Its pretty good in my opinion and realistic.
@gotbuckleys5937 жыл бұрын
Thanks guys for this information. So 1:34 x 2 + 10 = 3:18 and McMillan calculator and Jack Daniel's calculator, both have me running about 3:20. I really don't think I'm good for this pace. My training plan has me doing max 88km per week and most weeks are about 70-80 for 12 weeks. I plan to do 2x3k and 4x1600 plus tempo runs of 5k. My tempo pace is about 4:15-4-20 and I'll run 1600s at 4:10-4:12. So yes I have the pace for these Marathon times, I believe, however I don't think I have enough volume per week. Maybe in a year or two when I get my weekly kms over 100ks. I don't know? What do you guys think? Harry?

Got Buckleys Sorry you didn't get a reply sooner, and hopefully you succeeded at what you wanted to get out of the marathon. I personally thinking you are over thinking about the pace. You with your gut feelings and be intuitive about yourself. You know what you are capable of! Don't focus or rely on the data too much, we are becoming less connected with ourselves and our capabilities.

What's your thoughts on having one complete rest day each week? Pro's and Cons regarding running every day vs 6 days a week basically. Thanks!
@HarryRunsUK7 жыл бұрын
I generally recommend a rest day each week. Active recovery, walking or easy cross training are great to, giving the body time off the running legs to recover but also increase blood flow and speed up the recovery process. If you have been running as long as I have you can get away with easier days as an alternative. It comes down to having a good understanding of your body, overall stress with training load, life, sleep and effective recovery and nutrition.

Hey Harry Do you recommend eating before a one and a half hour run. Whenever I eat before a run, I get a stitch. Will Gatorade be enough? Thx
@Barley_runner7 жыл бұрын
babolat300 you're getting stinches because your body is still digesting while you have started your run. As a harry fan and ultra runner myself, I suggest keeping it light before your run and stick to fruits which are easily digestible before and after your workout, providing quick energy and quick recovery (bananas, pineapple, dates)... down a small smoothie or snack 35-45 minutes before you head out the door and afterwards add some protein to aid your recovery :). Cheers!

i take 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, garcinia cambogia and green coffee bean pills 45 min before i run and i can go for 3 hours no problem and plenty of energy

What is "crosstraining" in running exactly? Is it what it sounds like? (Cycling, swmming etc) too keep the training volume up even when you need to rest from impact sport as running?

It was one of the toughest so far for a few reasons and challenges apart from the physical side of things.
