In this video I go over how I upgraded the pixel art for my game, Mimic. While working on rebuilding the game from scratch, I felt like it would be a good idea to bump up the quality of the sprites a little as well. As always I go into overcomplicating something simple by making 3D models, to copying sprites from better games to make what essentially amounts to a few squares on a screen. As some one who can of the top of my head do the Pixel art in 3D... You did a great job! Which you did figure out the trick... Placing pixels till it looks right... And alot of brain process at least the first time doing a new angle.

There’s something about 16-bit Mimic that makes me think Alltp Armos with its movement animation. It feels like it hops at the same exact speed

Love your vids :p Do you have a video explaining a bit about your process animating your avatar? Just curious how you go about it so that it matches what you're saying. If you have a set of premade animations etc etc!

I assume he is using a VR headset with 2 controllers, to control the hands and most likely something to track his legs. I also assume that the mouth moves based on microphone input. (It also could all be done without VR and just be a mocap animation that in this day of age can even be recorded with something like your phone)

I wondered, what happens after a mimic eats an adventurer? Do they defecate? Do they even have an a*us? But then I developed a viable hypothesis. What if a mimic consumes and then processes an adventurer to produce slime, which they then use like a snail to slide to a new position and begin the cycle anew. Could also explain the grimy floors typically found in a dungeon. Food for thought. 🤔

Perhaps this explains the abundance of Slimes in dungeons. Mimics are Slime daddies
