Nord drum’s synth engine is amazing. If you play percussion, the expressiveness of the velocity etc are a really killer feature. Get a 3p for all in one.
@thedrumunkey4 жыл бұрын
Also, if you don’t need the pads, the Nord Drum 2 synth engine is a little more powerful/flexible. You lose the 3p’s fx though.

Aaa did keep in mind that each “drum” is a full mono synth that responds to chromatic/note info. Killer for bass, etc...

@@thedrumunkey hard to find them...
@thedrumunkey4 жыл бұрын
@@Conforce OK, I just looked at the ND1 manual (I on;y have a ND2 and a 3P) and it appears that you're correct. The ND1 seems to only respond to one note. That's a HUGE ding on it. The ND2 and the 3P allow you to essentially treat it as a 6 voice multi-timbral synth. Not just a "drum machine". The only real "issue" is that because it is percussion oriented, there's no sustain/hold. Anyhoo, if you dig the ND sound, can't recommend enough to get a 2 or 3... Allllsooo... It's really cool to use the ND3P, turn off local control, and use the pads to play parts into the Electron sequencer. Record them unquantized, then use track quantize to find grooves. Obviously the natural velocity variance is useful too to get voice variation. I really wish Nord and Elektron would team up. a Model:Nord would sooo fucking kick ass. :)

I sound create using a similar workflow, except I don't have a digitone, so use my Model-Cycles with Organelle for bass and my Nord Drum 3P and add the drums via my 7 pads, 6 on the D3P and I have an original Clavia Ddrum Cast-Precision pad from my DDrum 4SE for kick with a Pearl double pedal. It works for me, but then I am a drummer 😉

The Nord Drum 1 (2 and 3) aren't drum machines; no in-built seq. They are fully fledged drum-synths which take external pads and can be played just as an acoustic kit....so much more than a 'drum-machine' (aka 808, XOX etc ad nauseum).

Great video! subscribed! One question: when sequencing the Nord drum with the digitone, if I understand correctly: you used a midi track on digitone, assigned it to the midi in channel from the nord drum, and then used different midi notes to trigger the 4 nord engines right? so if you would want to make a 'full' drum sequence (with a lot of steps), you'd need several midi tracks on the digitone for this? (one for hihat, one for kick, etc)

It seems you're using overbridge for the audio via USB. How do you use the internal effects like reverb and delay? If the digitone works the same way as the digitakt, effects are addded to the master channel and they are impossibile to have if you use overbridge to have different audio tracks
@Conforce4 жыл бұрын
Just dont over use your effects and put proper highpass on the effects section. Sometimes they blend well.
@djpleocene73714 жыл бұрын
In the audio routing menu on the DT you can set it up so that only FX get routed to main.

The Nord Drum 1 & 2 are really totally different machines. The ND1 has a meatier sound to it. It is much better suited for getting classic drumsynth sounds ala Simmons, Tama Techstar, Drumfire, etc.. The ND2 is much more complex, great for weirder FM sounds, you can play sounds across the keys, etc but I kinda prefer the ND1 over the ND2 in most cases
