That was all very helpful. My Golden Plexi came last weekend and I thought its main purpose was to emulate a Marshall and forgot it’s a distortion pedal. Dave I came here mainly for how to use a fuzz pedal, but I've come away with a bigger thing I need to learn to do; ride my volume knob. I've rarely used the volume knob. But from what you've shown me in this video, all the guitar's sound is in that volume knob! Thank you.

Try decoupled volumes on any guitar with 2 volume pots!! Switch the lugs that your pickup goes to with the middle lug on end each pot and that's it. 1 volume with 2 tone pots when in middle position... I wont ever go back to regular LP wiring. Oh and make sure its 50s wiring too. Enjoy

Hi Dave, I was fortunate enough to go and see RHCP on Saturday in Sevilla. Frusciante was on fire !! One jam they did particularly reminded me of you it was really heavy. I was thinking "Dave would just love this". I can send you a clip of that jam if you want unfortunately I just didn't catch the start as they caught us completely off guard with it.

I always thought you ran your fuzzes on full from your previous videos. I´ve been running mine on low from experimentation and intuition alongside my distortion, so it´s pleasing to know that I was working on the same lines as yourself. My fuzz doesn´t play nicely with my golden plexi, so it´s off the pedalboard for the mo. Excellent tones as always, Dave. J.

Loved your use of volume swells Dave, the fuzz is way underrated, and underused as well.imho. With the activation of different volumes via the guitar, it Is amazing how clean and dynamic a full on fuzz can be, just ask Jimi. Fuzz is awesome if you can understand it and use it in a musical way, as so beautifully 😍 presented here by Dave

Great sound...got that Peter Green Mark Knopfler tone for days.....just got my Inspired by Gibson Epiphone 58 ES335 in sunburst two days ago and it has that sound...first ES335 I've ever owned and I love it....between that and my Casino and 54 reissue strat I've completed my guitar journey....the covid lockdown brought me the 335, the Casino and my first Martin acoustic elec.....good things from a rough era....was fun to jam along with you on my new guitar...I did ok.....you did great!...You were an absolute beast on Cici's live gig vlog ....really a special gig...you were really in your element. Great work mate.

I came too this conclusion today lol as using a tube screamer and the bigg muff pi or boost or even eq couldn't get there on my clean channel especially with humbuckers and figured out the govenor would be like a pushed amp as what the vintage fuzz works best with !Time too dig out my Govenor pedal 👍

I really need to write out my settings once in awhile b4 I proceed to next adventure, I really must do that. I thought I put Mxr fullbore metal distortion after fuzz and it wasn’t bad I guess and b4 my fuzz I prefer that option a lot even with OD pedal… it’ll boost the fuzz. But now I’m curious so I’ll check it to refresh my memories , what’s left of them 😂 My board order : wah ,overdrive, heavy distortion, Fuzz , VH phase 90, Flanger , Chorus, noise gate , looper pedals. I’m going to check what if I put my wah after chorus to see what gives - for shits and giggles. Alright homework time …

Hey Dave. It worked Dave I’m playing through the Zoom gn3 with nyc muff put the sustain on 3 kick on the distortion pedal and work the volume knob. Sonic goodness!

A Muff type pedal almost always needs to be combined with a drive pedal so you don't lose the mids. I've never seen anyone do it the way you do, and I'll certainly give it a shot. I personally use Fuzz into slightly dirty amp. Bonus points for using the LP. Another great video Dave!

Year's ago I was advised to Drive the power amp And lower the pre amp. Your gov is like the power amp muff pre amp... Parallels... Sounds good to me.. Nice vid... PS Fred Zep used a ds1 Low on top of red channel TSL 100W Stack.... That strat sound hits the spot.

Good day sir. Just wanted to say thanks for that Super Crush 100 video. Tested that bad mfer in store against Vox, Supro, Blackstar, Fender and Orange (rocker 15) tube amps. Left with the Super Crush and I think I bought my last amp selling my other amps the search is over. Unless they release a smaller version because the Orange 35rt didn't sound like the Super Crush to me.

I do actually run a VERY similar set-up - I like a tonebender type of Fuzz (either a model, a Joyo clone, or my special modded DOD 'bonetender ') real low gain, just off minimum, into either a mk1 guvnor or miAudio crunchbox set to ROCK! --- very input sensitive with a SSS Strat or trad Tele. Man, there are few I feel on the same page with, but you and I have much in common. I used to be Gerry McAvoy's tech AND unplugged support act --- I know you'd love that!🍀 Bless you Dave, for real.

Try decoupled volumes if your an avid pot fiddler!! Never lose volume again in middle position when you accidently zero one of the pots... 2 tones for each volume when 1 vol pot is zeroed!!! Awesome riffage man

I'm fuzz ignorant. I'd been learning the chords for Oh I Wept just using a bit of Klone style od. So dialed in the Muff and Governor on my Zoom G3 and I like it. It woke the cat though. Blessings Dave. Nice useful vid.

I just suffered a brain fart ~ now I remember , I got my pedal board years ago and I also had my Variac fuzz next to my fullbore distortion pedal and it works really sweet together .. don’t it 🤘, good genres tones of all kinds coming from my Bugera tube amp with 2 ) 80 watt cabinets, wish I still had it ...oh well. And yes playing with lower volume & tones then raise them a tad is like creating your your Frankenstein tones , the tone is alive moo ha ha ha! 😂

Hi Dave I run a DOD Carcosa in my high gain channel of Mt Marshall DSL 20. But the amp is at mid gain and the Carcosa 3\4 up. But I put a volume pedal between the amp and the fuzz. Added to the volume pot of the guitar, this makes a bit of different sounds as well!

Dave, A great insight into pedal stacking- I would not have thought of using a fuzz with low-gain in front of a Guv'nor - thanks or the tip! On the subject of using a low-gain overdrive - eg a Jackhammer or Golden Plexi - to create your base ('rhythm') sound, I have tried both pedals and can not seem to get a tone that I'm happy with. Would it be possible for you to review the settings you have on these pedals for this purpose? Keep up the great work!
