Thank you so much, as a aspiring guitar player I have ideas for new riffs constantly flowing in my head. But have no way of recording or remembering them. This has helped me genuinely so much, game changer video right here. 🙏

Hello i have a question: after you recorded your guitar through the plugin and the recording is finished...do you just close the plugin windows? And then the track stays recorded?

I noticed when you initially open amped roots, there is a loud buzzy or scratchy noise. How do you eliminate that noise? The same thing happens when I try it, and if I add any gain or overdrive plugins it gets much worse. I'm just getting started with DAWs, plugins, etc. so it's quite a struggle learning how to operate this stuff.

try using a noise gate plugin and it should eliminate the buzz

Try playing when facing away from your PC You might be surprised, but playing when facing a source of a lot of electrical hum like a PC is going to cause that hum to go straight into your mix.

Fluorescent light and nearby wifi or wireless devices also cause noise. Turn them off if possible. Ground loop is another noise source, you can buy a cheap ground loop isolator that you run inline to deal with that.

This helped me- back off the gain on rhythm parts and double track them. You'll get a full clear stereo guitar sound that's not all "buzzy"

All answers were correct, but I did not activate the noise gate yet in the plugin. Check the pedalboard, the far left pedal is the Noise gate.

Have you checked the drivers for your interface? What OS are you running?

I cant figure out how to get the ROOTS Amp to show up inside reaper. There is no .dll file to adding into the VST folder....help
@TheMetalFoundry
@TheMetalFoundry Жыл бұрын
What OS are you using? If you install the amp sim, it should install the vst file in the Steinberg VST folder. Depeding on your OS it should be C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins. If you don't find it there, check which version of windows you are using. If it's a 64 bit version, you may need to look in the Program Files(x86). Let me know if this helps ;)

That is pretty cool. Do you have any problems with latency? Does this depends of the interface you have?
@TheMetalFoundry
@TheMetalFoundry Жыл бұрын
I have no problems with latency, this comes down to my MacBook which is pretty powerful. I have an Audient interface, but the processing is done by my laptop. If you would have an interface with an onboard DSP like a Universal Audio Apollo for instance, that interface would take care of the whole audio processing if I'm not mistaken.

I’m having issues… I hope you can help! Reaper recognizes all of my plugins; however, I can’t arm them to actually hear them being used. It just always sticks with the default of no distortion. Any ideas?…. I’m new to reaper, I switched from pro tools

I'd like to help you, but for that I need some more information as to how you add the plugins to the specific tracks. Can you tell me exactly what you do?
@danielherbert2671
@danielherbert2671 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Thanks for reaching out! So, I have since been able to resolve a portion of the problem. I had left the “direct monitor” on on the interface I use. With that being corrected, I’ve been able to use most of my plugins. The ones that I’m not able to use are those by Positive Grid (bias fx, bias fx2, bias amp 2). For some reason, no matter what I try to do, they can’t perform.
@danielherbert2671

I supposed it’s possible that there’s so much latency within those plugins because of how demanding they are that they simply manifest this way. I do have a solid pc that I’m using with far above requirements for them to be functioning optimally though.
@TheMetalFoundry
@TheMetalFoundry Жыл бұрын
@@danielherbert2671 Good point about the direct monitoring, I was thinking of that as well. Have you however selected your interface as input device within reaper? What kind of interface do you have? You can change the latency settings by making the buffer smaller. I can strongly suggest you watch Kenny Gioia's videos about Reaper, he's very thorough in his demonstrations!
@danielherbert2671
@danielherbert2671 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I’ve selected the interface within the daw and have the appropriate driver. It’s a 2nd gen focusrite Scarlett solo. I’ve also tried adjusting the buffer size to improve any latency (assuming that there was any). No luck as of yet remediating the issue entirely.

Man... I was a very happy Boss GT 10 owner when I was playing hard rock stuff but when I discovered metal and started liking it, I sold the Boss and turned to Reaper and VST guitar plugins. When a person looks at YT how great they sound, even the free ones, he has to start wondering what is wrong with my computer or audio interface because I can't even get an approximate tone like you and other presenters!? Do I need an IR CAB? Any Loader? Does the layout in FX for tape matter (amp VST, then IR CB or IR CAB, then amp VST..? Ahm yes.. I use Scarlett 2i2 on Win 10.😬😒

@@kennylongnose4001 With some experimenting... I tried Amplitube 5. It has worked pretty well for me (unlike standalone amp sims like amped roots). Im able to get a pretty good sound out of my guitar now (more natural, less gainy sound)
