1. Make it about them - focus on benefits 2. Make it an event - nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd 3. Powerful demonstration - USE PHYSICS! 4. Show unquestionable proof - use experts like doctors or influencers 5. Change a daily behavior - like adding MCT oil to your coffee (bulletproof coffee) 6. Sell the dream - Nike makes you believe you can jump like Michael Jordan 7. Help them rebel - stick it to "the man"

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my KZbin channel 8 months ago about self development. Now I have 1,206 subs and > 1,000 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

Edward Bernays is called the "godfather of propaganda". He is the nephew Sigmund Freud. The nephew of Bernays is one of the founders of Netflix. Marc Bernays Randolph. He is continuing the legacy of his uncle. They are what is known as "social engineers".

3 stages of a product market according to Craig: 1. Clueless - when you need to create the marketing wave because nobody knows anything about the product 2. Curious - people have probably heard the term of your product 3. Saturation - household term which makes it difficult to compete

Funny they mention Dr. Oz and resveratrol. I once was at the Vitamin Shoppe and the people working there took several calls asking if they had it in stock because Dr. Oz just mentioned it on his show. Apparently the Vitamin Shoppe would always know if Dr. Oz mentioned something because they'd get a blitz of calls all asking about the same supplement.

How to take bath and clean your bowel movements and how to wash hand after. This is all documented in 1500 yrs old notes.

This was really awesome, you should do more ideas around creative marketing ideas! If you're interested in more about Edward Bernays I would highly recommend watching 'The Century of the Self' and any of Adam Curtis's documentaries really. They are fascinating. Also, to add to this list Listerine did a great marketing job where they kind of invented the fear of 'halitosis' (bad breath) to sell mouth wash.

Great podcast, but why do people keep regurgitating this ridiculous stat of “people see 4000 ads a day” or even 10k. Just think about it logically for a second. Do the math. That’s physically impossible, given the amount of hours dedicated to sleep, watching actual content, showering and just having conversations. Even if you count the ads you see on social platforms in between posts. Count all the billboards on the subway/tube on your journey next time. You will barely cross 100 ads in a day.
