Currently been stuck on 1300 for the past two months. Plateauing is never fun, but its all part of the journey. A tip I can give to avoid tilts is to stop playing more games after 2 losses and try again tomorrow. Because sometimes you just have a bad day, so its best to minimize the damage and power through the tilt. Edit : 1600 now and getting better and better

I disagree. No matter your level the thinking is the same, 2 1000's playing will think as much as 2 2000's, the main factor is the rating difference. Like if i play vs a 1200 i won't need to think much because of the rating difference, if ur opponent rating is the same you have to think the same amount no matter your level.

When I saw you recommend learning middlegame plans I was like YES! YES! YES!!!! Being able to find good plans not only has the benefits you listed in your video but can also: Lead to better time management (you don't get fixated on moves that aren't part of your plan, thus reducing the amount of candidate moves you need to calculate) Opponents blundering more (many people blunder when under pressure for multiple moves; the higher you go, the more moves you'll have to play, but usually this holds true. By adhering to a consistent plan you are always putting pressure on your opponent to consider your plans, even when you're objectively worse. TLDR: you create your own luck) Higher quality moves (In conjunction with my first point, you can play better and faster. The best move in the position is ALWAYS the move that carries out the best plan in the most efficient manner. Even if it is not an efficient method, and even if it isn't the best plan, your moves will always be reasonable and grounded, and it is much less likely for you to land yourself in trouble if you play in a principled manner) Great video!

I just have a few pointers as someone rated quite a bit higher. 1. Benko gambit and caro kann will not help you progress quickly. They will slow you down if anything and youll have to learn the sicilian sooner or later. 2. Do 3 minute puzzle rush. It really helps you spot tactics in time pressure and you get much more familiar with some easy tactics cuz lets be honest, up to like 2000 all of us hang pieces 3. Learn the 2 bishopmate and if you can the bishop knight althought this isnt neseccary. 4. Watch higher rated players play or analyze games. Even GTE has smth to offer because Gotham usually tells you what the best movw in a position is and even subconsciously it gets imprinted on your brain and when you see a similar position this move will come to mind very quickly.

I’m on a journey to 1600 from 1388 and my puzzle rating has been stagnant at 2200. One thing that does help the most in like you mentioned in the video, visualizing the next few moves, however , I love chess a lot and have played for hours and years on end but my brain has been taking a toll mentally processing premoves and best moves multiple times with multiple scenarios. So I feel like a beginner again because it’s mentally exhausting lbs now I understand how my non chess friends feel when they don’t know what move to make when I try to solve 2500 rated puzzles wish me luck tho

Much love to you my dude! I'm 3:30 in and you said the truth i needed to hear. There is to much free wisdom online about chess for the basics of chess beginners logic.

Best video for a beginner like me. I love the London! I went to the library and got a book… Ive been a bodybuilder for years but felt I was lacking in mental training. I was also in Civil Engineering (dropped out) but recognized I had no spatial recognition, pattern recognition, or very good problem solving skills… I, too, have been scouring for educational YT vids, and love your recommendations! Sick vid, bro and thank you!! Gonna start puzzles soon!!

Took me four years to get to 1700. I studied every day, played every day, had a coach, and was very engaged with the game. This guy did it in one year. I am done with this game...!

I'm a beginner and couldn't pass 800 elo. I don't know any opening and I just play for fun. But now I really want to become better and get higher rating. I'll come back when I improved. Thank you for this video ❤
