I loved the analogy you used, it makes sense. I really enjoyed seeing your journey in this experiment! The only other variable that I wonder is that if one minimizes the screen time on their phone, will they just increase their screen time on their computers as a result? Like for example in your experiment, were you tempted to just go on social media or mindlessly entertain yourself on your computer?

that's a great point! I didn't include it in the video, but it DID happen! I tried to go on tiktok and Instagram on desktop, BUT the scrolling didn't last as long. I think a big part of the habit was the experience itself. Scrolling with my mouse just wasn't as convenient as scrolling with my thumbs. Thus, I was able to break out of the loop faster - right back to the friction analogy!

🔥 bro! I’ve tried a similar experiment and I ended up increasing my screen time on my computer but I was a bit more productive! I do find there’s more chance of realization that I’m procrastinating or deviating from my actual task “why am I watching this? I’m supposed to be doing this and that” vs on my phone where it just becomes a mindless scroll on reels or tiktok. Also tough when we work on our social media stuff!! Balance is key!

haha, SAME! I think the screen time on desktop is a lot more productive and some of our actions like "scrolling" on desktop is not as convenient or enjoyable so it makes leaving that black hole a lot easier haha!

i know i’m late but i am in your exact situation right now, except for replace being self employed with a break from school, which has left me with a much higher screen time. i will definitely be trying this experiment out, and will reply to my comment in a few days with what has happened.

first of all! GREAT video bro! Jeremy you killed it with the story telling, edits, creating a vibe, EVERYTHING! and second yeah. lol I used to suffer from too much screen time as well. those are all good tips bro. sometimes if my phone keeps pinging, I put it in do not disturb mode and set my wife's contact to be able to bypass it in case there's an emergency. thought I mention it in case you find it helpful to you

Bro I loved your experiment!! I did something similar after Arianna Huffington spoke about over working and getting burnt out. She said that what worked for her was to disconnect and actually put her phone in the next room. It literally does rid you of unnecessary excess stress and anxiety. And being able to be more present is also definitely a perk 👌🏽
@aysitumari10642 жыл бұрын
Yes just literally the hubby and i did just exactly that. Place our phones in the next room to charge at night. So we go to bed and sleep as to before to go bed and scroll.
@JeremySry2 жыл бұрын
thanks for tuning in man! Dude, all of the above! Next room vibes without a DOUBT! That was a huge game changer for me!

why? you are an internet sensation! Ten hours are a lot. But screen time brings in ad income too.

well, if all I do is stay on my screen and not actually get stuff done, I won't be producing anymore, right?
