He started just like most of the teens and worked his ass off since he was 15, so, somebody with a lot of natural potential is somebody who jumps higher than everyone at the beginning? I worked out mostly my legs at the gym. Unfortunately I am only 5'5 so I only got to touch rim with 2 hands. I could've kept going but I got injured. Gonna be honest, genetics play a huge role. Also arm length. You want too have a strong core as well. Dunking isn’t just legs, it’s core and technique. Overusing your legs will cause pressure on knees which can cause tendonitis. That can lead to a torn ACL and MCL. Be careful out there and make sure your quads and core is super strong so your knees don’t have a lot of pressure on them. Arm length plays a huge role too, I’m 6’2 and I have a 6’6 wingspan I don’t have to jump very high to dunk I literally just have to palm the ball and put it in. Also I can jump high because of genetics and working on my legs, take this advice and use it. Work hard but be safe.

This is awesome to watch. Something you don't mention is standing reach (more important than height really). Mine is 8ft. and I had a 40 inch vertical in HS just from nature I guess? Thing is I tore all the ligaments in my left ankle and because I pushed myself to play college ball, never really recovered fully, also leading to knee surgeries. Now I'm 15 years older, overweight, and have had some health issues. I'm looking at your channel and LOVING it. I need to lose a lot of weight I've gained from illness and one of my weightloss goals is to get fit enough to dunk again. Since I never had to really learn all this back in the day (I was mostly taught it from example by my dad, or learned naturally) its great to have it broken down in such a perfect way so that I can set specific goals and further motivate myself to do something I used to love to do but thought would be impossible to do again. Whether or not I am able to ever dunk again, it will aid me in getting healthier and I just want you to know that you are having an impact that is improving the quality of people's lives and it is appreciated. Keep up the good work!

Im 14 with a 30 inch vertical but I have been having extremely bad knee pain. I am able to hit my head on 8 feet rims and low ceilings and I'm 5'6", that's how I know my vert, it could be higher, I'm not sure. 7 foot standing reach. I can dunk 9.5 on a good day. But my knees are KILLING me. It hurts to walk, my feet and legs also hurt. I cannot move my right foot much anymore without pain. My shoes don't fit well either, my vert has gone down 2 inches since I started "training" with calf raises, squats, and hamstring curls. do you have any tips or anything I could do to stop knee pain?

Here’s a technique and it’s pretty damn easy : start dunking at 7’5 rims and go from there, no weights involved just straight up jumping. Took me 3 years to finally dunk at 10 without doing any weight training/jumping workout . All I did was jump
@chinonsoufondu4 жыл бұрын
Steven Caasi that’s a good tactic but people simply can’t be bothered to do 3 years they would much rather have like 9 months of training
@stevencaasi76374 жыл бұрын
Cryptic Pro Gamer CU7 you’re right but for those who don’t have access/chose not to lift weights, jumping/dunking all day is like you’re bread&butter lol. I used weight training to help me be more explosive in my dunks

5 foot 11 inch and trained for about 9 months to hit my first dunk. Heavy lifting and jumping did it all.

I started to try when I saw the dunk league episode. several months ago I can touched the 9'9 rim at this time I tore my left knee because hitting on the floor after jumps. Now i can touch the 10 rim... but only jump from one leg, lost the two legs bounce. It seems like I don't make any progress after my knee get injured...... dunno what else can I do now… a 5'8 kid ~

I injured my knee a year ago from jumping, and can still not jump without pain 8 months after surgery. Just a heads up to everyone, jumping is very harsh on the body.

I am a 5'7 12 year old and I think that I can jump pretty high but when quarantine hit I lost that skill beacause the house I live in has people under so I can't practice jumping. I also couldn't go outside so I just waited. And then I could go outside again and now I'm trying to get that skill back. Awesome video man keep it up!

Im one foot jumper and can esaly dunk with two hands but I dont understand how to do windmill of one leg. Do you have advice for me?
@lester21445 жыл бұрын
That’s a awkward dunk to do off one leg that’s why u never really see it, the main thing is to get your timing and coordination down, So just practice on it for about 30 min every day 1st work on your footwork and hand placement using about 50 percent effort when u get comfortable with that then start giving 100 percent
