Congratulations! I am a 55 year old physician who plans on getting out of medicine and becoming a commercial pilot as well! You have a very inspiring story! Makes me believe it’s possible. And, like you, I’d be thrilled with flying with a regional for the rest of my career. Thank you for what you are doing with these videos.

Wow...I did my first solo XC for PPL today. It was hot, sweaty, nervous and one go-around, but I returned where I departed. It is not very exciting day as my first solo, but I know I'm getting better. Your track is a good indicator for me. And, big Congratulations on your CJO! That is another inspiration for me.

Hey Trent, I’ve been following you since day one and I just wanted to say congratulations on your official job offer with the largest regional carrier in the US! I did some research and I think I know which one it is, but I’ll keep it to myself to protect your privacy. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making these videos. They’ve really helped me. I’m currently finishing up my CFI because I have an opportunity to fly for the United States Armed Forces. To do that, I need to get my CFI and a few other things. Watching your videos has inspired me to continue on this journey. I wish you the best of luck in your regional jet training and your airline pilot career. Hopefully, one day we’ll be working for the same major carrier and flying together in the same cockpit. Congrats again, I’m so proud of you. Thank you for making these videos and please keep them coming. I’m showing them to some of the parents I work with at an organization that teaches kids how to fly, do search and rescue missions, and public speaking. Some of the parents are even interested in flying themselves. Great work, man. Super happy and proud of you! Best, Keilyn

Will your guide be applicable for Canucks or is it specific to training in the US? Months or even year long waiting lists for instruction and even check rides north of the 49th. Many of the "flying clubs" have become aviation colleges in the major metros.
@trent_dyrsmid
@trent_dyrsmid 2 ай бұрын
It has content to teach you how to select the best flight school that will give you the odds for the fastest training and that is applicable north and south of the border. It also includes my study guides for the check rides, so that would probably only apply to the US, but there could be a significant overlap. I don’t know.

Just goes to show, if you hit it hard and hang it out there you too can be successful! Great job! I’m so proud of you in what you have accomplished. I hope to meet you some day and shake your hand. Inspirational as always. My business has been extremely demanding the last 6 months. 12-15 hour days. Scheduling planes became far too difficult at my flight school and instructors could not work with my limited availability. I’m not giving up. Just went into contract on a Cherokee 140/16” yesterday and found an independent CFI. So hopefully back on track in a couple weeks. Question Trent. If you owned a plane and wanted to offset the expense would you… A) Start a partnership and sell shares B) Start a flying club. C) Leaseback to a flight school or club.. D) Lease to independent CFIs similar to your arrangement with aircraft owners… Or, do you know of any other options that may work?

Hello sir, what flight school did you attend to, for the accelerated training? Thanks
@trent_dyrsmid
@trent_dyrsmid Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! The school that I attended does not want me sharing their name on my social media because every time I do their phone explodes. They have no interest in training private pilots. The only thing that they really want to do is provide accelerated training for CFI and multi engine ratings. So…to help my viewers find a school that does want to train private pilots, I’ve just formed a partnership with a terrific school in Arizona. You can watch a video about it here flywithtrent.com/flight-training-in-mesa/

Great video Trent! Appreciate all the helpful tips- I just purchased your training program. :) I'm saving up to go all in on accelerated training full time but I'm about 12 months out. I know it's a good idea to knock out all written tests beforehand and they're good for 2 yrs.. but since I'm about 12 months out, should I wait to take the tests until closer in? Or should I just get out of the way now and be done with them knowing there will be a gap in training? Just dont want to forget any info for checkrides that may slow me down when I'm actually ready to pull the trigger.

I can also apply to a school that is both part 61 and part 141. Sir, are you familiar with any schools which are both part 141 and part 61 and which also will also not pose a hefty price on my pockets and in which with hard work i will able to complete my flight training in reasonable time? The problem is I'll have to finalize school from my home country itself before coming to America and then plan everything in accordance with the flight school. Many agents in India keep guiding me to schools in America which promise prices based on minimums and also do not provide me with adequate contacts of students to gain a sophisticated review of the school. I did not run a Flight School. Over the last year to build my hours I worked as an independent instructor. I created the website to answer all the questions I kept getting in the KZbin comments about potentially doing training with me.

Ryan, there’s no question that the upfront costs to become a pilot are significant. With that said when you compare what it cost to become a doctor and then you look at the ROI, one could make a pretty good argument to becoming a pilot is actually a much better deal.

@trent_dyrsmid I totally agree with you that in reality 150k isn't that much money over multiple years. My problem is ide have to go to ATP by my house and well I don't know how I would do about a year with no income.. that would be the difficult part for me. If I can figure that out then I'm in. I'm hoping to maybe try it next year hopefully

Hi Trent! I’m a 21 year old woman with basically no money in savings ($5k) but want to become an airline pilot! I don’t have any expenses that I could slash down on, and I only work part time for $17 an hour. Is getting a loan my only option?

So your 54, 55 yoa……hired at a regional (conditional offer, not there yet). So now 55,56 yoa starting at a regional airline……first officer for approximately 18 months…now 58, 59 yoa. Ungrade to captain at that regional. 60, 61 yoa…….probably too old now for a major airline now. If the goal is to stay at a regional, including regional pay, commuting, being away from home (maybe) and terrible schedules……you did it……..unless you already have your retirement set and you can retire at 54 yoa, then quitting everything and flying at 54 yoa is too old. You have roughly 10 years to make any kind of money……depending on where you live, making over a 100k is nothing, especially if you have a family and are trying to save for retirement. Remember I said roughly 10 years. The first two years of this process you are not making anything…..so now you have 8 or 7 years left…….so yes, it can be done, zero time to a conditional offer at a regional in 18 months at 54 yoa if you hustle 24/7…..working full time and flying part time is not hustling, remember your paying $250 an hour for 250-300 hours of flying to obtain your flying licenses….then you need another 1200 hours to obtain your ATP for a conditional hire at a regional……..sure it can be done………good luck….

@@jkim47ill if you really appreciated my videos, you would also appreciate the immense time effort and expense it takes to create them. Rather than vent that you despise my offering things for sale, maybe turn inward and ask yourself why that is such a trigger for you? Perhaps it is because you have a job you hate, and you are envious of my ability to make a full-time living from KZbin? Perhaps you have money related issues that were installed into your subconscious by your parents? Or perhaps you are just not very happy and feel the need to “give me a piece of your mind”. Either way, I will continue to do what I do the way that I choose to do it. It’s called capitalism….and if I wasn’t creating value for others, my sales would be zero.
