Love this. I'm doing my first comp since 2007 in a couple of months (I'm now in the vet's category 😮). A video of a competition training regime would be awesome! 😉

The boxer Lomachenko does a similar hand check to clear away a tight defense and get in a head shot, you're mixing in good company sensei Nick.

Lomanchenko, the glitch in the matrix. I appreciate the comparison. I boxed for many years and found a lot of it extremely useful in kumite.

It's a thing to do in a dojo and again in a world level tournament facing a formidable fighter. Awesome. I seriously love your videos. As for what I'd like to see, can you please please do some video explaining how to launch 320, 340 real fast? Okay we're just taught the thing yesterday and my mind is in a jumble. Anyway, thanks for this, Sensei.

So could you basically call this a combination of the lunge and falling step? Should the weight (whilst using the rope) be on the hips, feet, core, all of the above, or what?
@xrizaq6 жыл бұрын
I am curious about your knowledge on using feet at all levels, from ashi bari, to jodan geri...your thoughts sensei? (possible video)

Great thought. Coincidentally, I just taught a class on this last night. I will definitely look into a video very soon.

I finally find the video! I have been looking for a analytical approach to this move for a long time. I though it was a shuffle then a lunge (I was badly mistaken). How do you do this after pivoting though? Lyoto Machida does it all the time.
@KaratePlaybook5 жыл бұрын
Have your back foot ready so that as soon as it touches the floor, you push off of it. Plus I like to actively use my front leg to pull me in at the same time.

How should I deal with people who counter fast with a kick? I know being defensive is a solution, but I prefer being aggressive.

You will want to draw them out. I have 2 videos you might want to check out. 1) Fake, Test & Annoy: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqeqiqekr6inac0 2) How to Block Kicks (Jam & Strip): kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKiZg5yHgcaGaqM Using the ideas from both videos to draw them and then either strip or jam. This should give you a few tools to use.

A combo kizame tsuki, huh? I used to do them often when my opponent is a bit close, although sometimes I did not think much, I did my combos as I learned them, when doing the kizami tsuki my opponent went back and left with front mawashi that he gave me, I fixed well It was very fast, I was still very far away to give the moment ... Just as you say you have to lean with the wax and quickly move the back leg

Exactly. They are good from a wide range of distances but you definitely do need some back up plans in case they do something unexpected.

Why are your opponents wearing white belts?
@KaratePlaybook5 жыл бұрын
I like to compete against white belts to make me feel better about myself... Lol. Just kidding, we wear white and red belts to distinguish who is on which side. Makes it easier for the judges.
@Docinaplane5 жыл бұрын
@@KaratePlaybook :-) I had seen competitors wearing red and blue before, but never white. It's been a long time since I competed in tournaments.
@KaratePlaybook5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's the same thing. Old-school/Traditional events usually use red and white. Newer rules use red and blue.
