What if Nick did some sort of competition featuring kids' ideas for new cartoons? Kids could submit their ideas to the competition, as well as vote on ideas other kids have presented. The top five or so concepts could get made into 7-11 minute pilots, and then kids would vote on which of the pilots they like the most. As for the prize, I think the kid with the winning pilot could win a cash prize and a trip to the Nicktoon Animation Studios. In addition, the winning kid could have their pilot made into a series of like one season, and get to act as consultant for the first season. This idea is sort-of like Pieguy's proposed revival of the Kids-Pick-the-Cartoons concept, except the kids would be both voters and contestants.

Here is what i'd do: 1. End SpongeBob at the end of Season 10. And make the series finale an hour-long special. 2. End FOP. And do it well. 3. Spongebob is Nickelodeon's flagship show and has been for years. The show draws in the most ratings for the network, and makes them the most money. The show also airs 4-6 hours a day on Nickelodeon and airs more than any other show on the network. As much as I love Spongebob, 4-6 hours a day is too much. If Nick wants to be a good, viable, and successful network again, it needs to diversify its programming schedule and air blocks of shows during the day. They shouldn't have to rely on Spongebob that much.

That could work. #1- Yeah, Spongebob should probably retire. A movie would be as good a place as any to stop. #2- Oh definitely. #3- Dreamworks has been rolling out some new stuff as of late (especially from How To Train Your Dragon and a new one called DinoTrucks). #4- That was how the original cartoon was so good. Nickelodeon let them do almost whatever they wanted. Legend of Korra could have done well with that, but it was originally meant for just one season, which is why the second season wasn't as good but the other two were. I would also take the gamble of doing both a new Avatar series AND a movie at the same time. The series could focus on either Avatar Kyoshi or the successor to Avatar Korra. (Kyoshi was a character that intrigued me because Roku's history was fleshed out well in an episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Kyoshi was not. Plus, I want to see Kyoshi go into GOD MODE, not just have her eyes light up for the sake of showing that this kid is the Avatar (like Korra). The movie could be animated, could be not animated, but no way on Earth would I try to adapt an entire season of either Last Airbender or Legend of Korra into a movie. THAT was the mistake Shamaylan made. #5- Yep. #6- Yep. I saw that logo in a few too many places. #7- That would work. #8- That might work. #9- Yeah, fix that. #10- Bumpers?

Make NickSplat a 24 Hour Channel that would replace either TeenNick or Nicktoons and rename it "Nick Rewind" 3. Let's review: 1. Spongebob is still going and now has multiple spinoffs 2. We have gotten a few new creators such as Ant Blades for "It's Pony" 3. Nick doesn't make Dreamworks shows anymore, so I guess we can technically count this one as a success. 4. The Avatar creators are working on new stuff, not sure how much freedom they have though. 5. Nick still has a problem with this 6. Dan Schneider doesn't work for the network, so I guess this one counts. 7. Kel Mitchell returned for "Game Shakers" and him along with a few other people returned for the "All That" reboot 8. We got "Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn," which was pretty decent. 9. Logo is still bland and boring. 10. There are new bumpers, but they're not very interesting. So, overall, 6-7 out of ten, not bad.

John VerHage Right and that's Nick's problem. You never put all your eggs in one basket because, that basket will eventually break. I don't think Nick made a mistake getting Spongebob. It was by Stephen Hillenburg(probably spelled his name wrong), who also made Roco's Modern Life, so they made a good investment on that front. The problem is that they won't LET GO of that investment. I know the show and it's merchandise is making them a ton of money, but that's all they have at this point. They aren't even focused on building more franchises either and Animation is HUGE right now. Two of the biggest movies this year and last year were all animated. So why aren't they focusing on doing that. It doesn't even make an financial sense at this point.

I'm 16 years old and born on October 6, 1996. One of my earliest known memories consists of watching brand new episodes of Rugrats, Hey Arnold, All That, Kenan and Kel, Nick Gas, Blue's Clues, Gullah Gullah Island, and anything made by Clasky Csupo. Watching them when they were new as a two and a half year old in 1998 is incredibly vivid. I have better memory of them when I watched the reruns in the early 2000's.

although I do have a bit of a soft spot for sponge bob, I totally agree with your list, I grew up with 90's nickelodeon, rugrats, Doug, oh yeah cartoons, early fairly oddparents, and remember enjoying all that during its earliest years until we lost cable, some of the new shows I do consider fairly good but I hope someday nick will return to where it excelled, its nicktoons

Things I would do 1. SpongeBob should end with a 10th season, It had it's run. Same with Fairly Oddparents 2.Create a Adult Block Similar to AS that can be switched with a button on your provider's TV remote. 3.Get rid of that Full house marathon. It's stupid

Here's how I'd fix Nickelodeon within the next 5 years: 1. End Spongebob at its 20th anniversary. With the show slowly improving with the return of Stephen Hillenburg, it would make sense (assuming he's still writing the for the show at the time) to end the show on a high note on May 1st, 2019. 2. End the Fairly Odd Parents, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. That could be this year for the 15th anniversary or in 2021 for the 20th. 3. Have a cap of 2 rerun episodes of a certain show per day. 4. Shorten the Nick Jr. Block. Have it end at 2PM like in the good ole' days so that the channel has more room to show their programming. Also in the grand scheme of things this wouldn't be a detriment to the channel since the side channel Nick Jr. (along with countless early education content on the internet) is easily accessible, so 1 less hour of Nick Jr. should be fine. 5. Cancel these following shows: Breadwinners, Sanjay & Crag, Rabbid's Invasion, Pig Goat Banna Cricket, Make it Pop, Henry Danger, Game Shakers, 100 Things To Do Before High School, and School of Rock. Bring back the TeeNick block on Sunday nights for all of the tween/teen shows to be shown EXCLUSIVELY on their for the GOOD live action shows. 6. Look for new fresh talent within animation. Well known animators that have had good track records and are innovating. Use a promotional show like Oh Yeah Cartoons, as a way to display these new shorts and allow the kids to vote on the internet or the Nick app on which shorts they like the most. Use this data as a guideline of which shorts could eventually become shows. 7. Bring back a voter like block similar to Nick in the Afternoon or U-Pick Live. 8. FIRE Dan Schenider and look for new talent within Live action. Focus on variety by providing more for slice of life shows that kids & tweens could relate to (something like Caitlin's Way or Lizzie McGuire) while phasing out the laugh track for future sitcoms. Also give homage to classic Live action shows & actors like Kel Mitchell, Drake Bell, & Amanda Bynes. 9. Launch a new Saturday Night Classics block dedicated to classic Nicktoons, Nickcoms, & Game shows that were aired on the network during the 1980's, 1990's, & 2000's. Alternate every Saturday of the month ie; 1st Saturday a month dedicate it to Nicktoons like Ren & Stimpy, Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold, CatDog, Invader Zim, etc. 2nd Saturday would be Nickcoms like Clarissa Explains It All, All That, Pete & Pete, Kenan & Kel, The Amanda Show, Drake & Josh, etc. 3rd Saturday would be Game Shows like Legends of the Hidden Temple, Guts, Nick Arcade, Double Dare, You Can't Do That On Television, Figure it Out, etc. 10. Bring back Friday Night Nicktoons to promote new episodes of new Nicktoons. 11. Finally, revamp the logo. It doesn't have to revert back to the Splat Logo, but the new logo should be more interesting and exciting. The current logo just seems bland and fake (like its trying to mimick Disney Channel). A logo that is inventive and exciting for kids would be great for the network and would help fix its current image.

I agree. I draw a lot, and I love both traditional and digital stuff. So, digital/flash animation doesn't bother me in the least. But CGI...ugh. I don't mind it so much, but they really need to stop placing it in cartoons that are already 2D. It doesn't need to be there. It's not so bad when they make it blend in (like in Avatar), but most of the time, it just doesn't fit and makes it look like the animators were too lazy to draw out the scenes themselves.

I would actually let Spongebob run for at least two more years and then cancel it on the 20th anniversary with a series finale special that ends with the original credits playing. The plot would be what happened after the first movie since that was supposed to be the original finale but Nick wanted to extended its lifespan. It would show Spongebob and Squidward working as managers, and Patrick working at the Krusty Krab 2.

Here's how I would fix nickelodeon. 1. Cancel SpongeBob after the 3rd movie (Face it, spongebob has gone on far too long), but keep it alive through merchandise 2. If the 2nd season of The Loud House is as fantastic as the 1st, renew it for a 3rd and 4th season ( season 4 will be the final season) 3. Renew Harvey Beaks for a 3rd season. 4. Renew TMNT for its 5th and final season. 5. Give Butch Hartman something to do that isn't Fairly Odd parents. 6. Give Steve Oderek a new show.(Let's hope it won't be as bad as Planet Sheen) 7. Cancel ALL the horrible live action shows such as The Thundermans, Henry Danger, and Nicky Ricky Dicky and Dawn. 8. Limit Dan Schneider to one ENTERTAINING show just like Drake and Josh. 9. Reboot some classic Nicktoons such as My Life as a Teenage Robot, Catscratch, and Invader Zim. 10. Change the logo back to the classic orange splat.

Get rid of Dan Schnider shows, they're all the same crap rehashed. What happened to the sitcoms about kids in school going through shitty days in their social lives? Is that all 90s stuff? I mean why do they keep making shows about tweens dating or trying to be pop stars? Nick needs to get more shows that can take themselves seriously enough to focus on coherent jokes. They need writers who are actually intelligent. Fart arent funny, hyperactive kids arent funny, Gibby is NOT funny. Random dancing is not funny.... Put Victoria Justice in a serious role. Nick needs some shows like a kids version of Community, where the plots are just about the daily lives of kids in friendships, social interaction with themselves, school and society with NO forced romance or melodrama (iCarly) They need to make some shows that ARENT about kids who only want to be pop-stars... but just having an actual childhood with growth and continuity. It would be even better if it wasnt filled with recycled in-house actors and Dan Schnider NOT the creator but an original show. Bring Back thats so raven for black viewers.

Since the college you were looking into at the time you made this video has a connection with MTV, your in luck because MTV and Nickelodeon are both owned by Viacom, you could bring forth your suggestions here to an MTV executive, have him/her pass your suggestions to a Nickelodeon executive, and then have the Nickelodeon executive hand them over to Nick's directors, and watch Nick follow in Cartoon Network's footsteps on the road to improvement.

Just came from the CN video (i put both in my queue). Again, 7 years in the future (which honestly i'd rather be back in 2013 and not just because i was 9) I know for CN i said that they are doing relatively well...can't really say the same for Nickelodeon. I think within the last 7 years i would say Nick has had maybe 1 show (that I know of) that was really good, it was relatable, casual, and on top of that, the cast comprised of fresh faces to the network. But of course they cancelled it within no more than 2 years which sucked. they still air spongebob often (although new episodes are quite scarce maybe a few a year) but now they mostly just air episodes of The Loud House (or the spinoff The Casagrandes) which I don't mind either of those shows, quite frankly I like them but like, cmon you have more shows than that....air them. In fact you don't even see ANY of the live action shows until around 7-ish (giving them about an hour) on a weekday

I can agree how he would Cancel SpongeBob. But if you had to fix Nickelodeon you would probably keep their best show. But just fix some minor things. Like change the writers and some of the animators.
