Teen Titans Go! Rant 3: This Show is Stupid

"This is a kid's show" No, this is an insult to kid's intelligent. Believe it or not, Cartoon Network, all kid's aren't all easily impressed idiots that only care about butt and fart jokes. You can clearly see that with how many kids enjoy stuff like Steven Universe and The Amazing World Of Gumball. Yep, that's right, I'm defending TAWOG. Some might say it's stupid as f*ck, but I honestly think it's a cute and clever show. And it's pretty hilarious at times. And plus, it doesn't shove immature humour in children's faces claiming that's the only thing they pay attention to and like. Most kids watch it cause they just like Cartoon Network. Not just cause the specifically TTG. Some might like Adventure Time, some might like Uncle Grandpa... So Cartoon Network really needs to stop acting like EVERYBODY loves TTG and start airing shows people actually care about.

I was at the library the other day and this kid about 7 or 8 was looking for a book. I overhead his Dad ask him if he wanted to read Teen Titans Go. This little kids response was, "No, they ruined it." I instantly thought how smart this kid was. He was to young to grow up with the old show, yet found the new one to be bad. For me that was an example on how not all kids are drawn to fart jokes and mindless humor.

Teen Titans Go is the highest grossing television series that Cartoon Network is currently airing. It's also the most aired because it's the most demanded. You can watch the video again where he reads the quote the the director stating that the show "is more popular than Spongebob." SPONGEBOB! It's not that good in terms of content and quality but most kids don't want serious plots and laid out stories like in Steven Universe or Gravity Falls. They want something pleasing to the eye and filled with child humor. That's exactly what TTG is, and the kids are loving it. The show IS NOT meant for us teens and new adults, it's meant for these kids.

There was also a quote from Nintendo about Pokemon being for both adults and children, but I can't find it currently. Why this aversion to taking children media seriously? (And by seriously, I mean you put the magical thing called EFFORT and RESOURCES into it, not TTG serious bullshit) Why is "it's for children" an automatic handwave to "your criticism isn't need." Is it because adults think children are stupid and only deserve stupid media? Is that what you're saying? The whole clown episode was addressing a strawman that fell flat on its face. Undertale, Pokemon, Mario, Mother/Earthbound, every Disney animated film ever, every Pixar film ever, Winnie the Pooh, Batman the Animated Series, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Samurai Jack, PowerPuff Girls, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Gravity Falls, Miraculous Ladybug, Star vs the Forces of Evil, Wander over Yonder, ARTHUR OF ALL THINGS, I could go on and on here. This is a lazy attitude to hold towards children, thinking they're stupid and deserve mediocre entertainment, and I hope it will be a mentality that dies in the near future. If I were to make a show for kids, I would make a show that I can imagine an adult enjoying as well. Kids aren't that stupid, get your head out of your ass, good producers/writers of the show.

While I agree that those two studios have given us many timeless and memorable classics, that's not to say that they haven't also churned out a few stinkers. I mean, Disney made Home on the Range, Mars Needs Moms, Chicken Little, and all the Direct-To-DVD sequels. Pixar made Cars 2, Planes, and other bad sequels.

I have an Idea for a Teen Titans go season finale. The Titans are wondering why everyone hates them so much, and realize that it's because the original was so much better. They then decide to watch the original series. After doing so, they realize that the original IS so much better, in so many ways. They wonder what they had become, and realize that it's the Writer's fault. They then decide to confront the writers of Teen Titans Go in an epic climactic battle, in a similar fashion to the original Teen Titans. But, The Titans find themselves defeated. When the writer is about to kill them all, they ask him why he decided to write this reboot so poorly. He says that the show is meant for little kids. They remind him what the Teen Titans are really about, and the writer realizes his mistake and apologizes, and promises to make the show enjoyable for all ages in newer episodes. It then cuts to a live action shot of the cast of Teen Titans Go and they personally apologize to everyone for making the show so awful, and promise to do better next time. The show goes on a hiatus, and we get a new season of amazingly written episodes! Now THAT's how you end a season.

I am someone who hasn't seen the original TT, but I hate TTG. I prefer shows that have at least some sort of on going story, that develops. TTG is the exact opposite, it's a comedic show that is so random, it's just full of cringe! I do have a soft spot for silly shows, but one that doesn't have some sort of consequences or a story that doesn't develop, but in fact, the story doesn't progress, it goes backwards. Take something like Rugrats, it's random, in a way, teaches you something sometimes, but the characters developed, Chuckie's dad got remarried, Chuckie got a sister, Dil came along, Tommy learned how to be a brother, there was an episode based on the fact that your new parent won't always know what you like, and that leads to some mistakes. TTG is just plain stupid, it doesn't try to teach something, it doesn't develop characters, and it's just.....ugh. I get, kids attention span is tinier then a goldfish's sometimes, stories still get their attention, if something is tense and something seems to always about to happen, kids will keep watching, like how if a book is interesting you'll keep reading. I hate how shows creators think you can only get a kid to watch something if there's fart jokes. A decent funny show every now and again is pretty cool, but if it drags a joke on for half an hour, then you're doing something wrong with the show. I wasn't even born in the 90s but I prefer 90s kid shows! I hope we get out of this little phase of cartoons and they start having stories again, because it seems like if you want a show with story, it has to be live action, and those kids shows are also becoming more random by the seasons. And that is why I don't watch TV, I watch KZbin.

The worst thing about CN is repetition. There are several other shows out there, the Eds, Dexter, Ben 10, Johnny Bravo, (ESPECIALLY) the original Teen Titans and hell a lot more. There are many underrated and surprisingly, good cartoons that get cancelled off in 2012, the year CN turned to the equivalent of a shit's shit taking a shit. Now there are at most 10 shows (there are more, but they are played past bedtime and they were all good, those classics pre-2012), with TTG played about 5 times as much as others like everyone demands it. It's stupid.

I wouldn't hate Teen Titans Go as much if it wasn't forced down viewers throats. Seriously, every time I channel surf into Cartoon Network, TTG is dominating everything. You rarely see any other shows. Sure you see the occasional "We Bare Bears" or "Clarence". I haven't seen Regular Show in awhile. But still, my point is that TTG is over saturating the schedule. I still find the show mindless utter garbage and whenever I watch the original series with my friends or even see clips from the episodes, it makes me dislike it even more. The original show had so much heart and sweat put into it. The show was both dramatic, action, and comedy all into one and did it well. And when the writers or TTG admitted they never watched the original series, it just peeved me off more. They're pretty much using the Teen Titans name for profit. They acknowledge the show is stupid but it's pandering to the younger audience who like anything random and bright colored (which okay, is a good marketing scheme. I doubt that it wouldn't have changed the audience much if they kept the bright colors and characters with wacky personalities. TTG just signalizes everything I hate about the modern animation industry right now. Lazy, pandering, and lacking or rather, not as open to creativity. Steven Universe (even though I don't care much for it), Regular Show, and We Bare Bears are some of the better shows in recent years but TTG is pretty much the Johnny Test of this generation. And I say this because look at the shows that got cancelled on CN. Thundercats 2011, Young Justice, Megas XLR, etc. Pretty much any show that obviously had a good budget in animation gets discontinued/'cancelled in favor of cheaper looking, frankly crappy animation. Okay okay, I'm rambling. I feel like I should make a video response about this haha. I agree with everything you said for the most part. As much as this show makes me want to toss it into the craters of hell never to be reborn, it's obvious it found it's market... So yeah, best to just ignore the show if you don't like it. 3 reasons why I hate TTG 1: it teaches kids horrible lessons, like not to care about health and financial stability, or to attack people instead of working out problems. If you're upset with video game violence, look at this. It's vulgar, awful, irresponsible garbage and has an awful effect on kids. 2: the bathroom jokes. Kids don't always find butts and farts funny and this isn't a way to help them be less vulgar. Kids everywhere find awful things funny and parents think it's because of kids at school, but it's because of shows like this. 3: it's NOT a real superhero show. The characters are just goofing around with the occasional fight. It's an insult to the original, and even if the original didn't exist, this would still be awful. It has no plot, no character development, and pays no homage to the original AT ALL. The characters are in no way similar except the designs. In conclusion, I think this is useless vulgar filth. Steven Universe can be silly, but there's still essential plot and character in each episode, each character, each background, and each moment. To be honest, I don't think that the creators of Teen Titans Go had to dumb down the characters and the plot the way they did just because it's for kids. Believe it or not, kids actually do like shows with in depth characters and interesting plot lines. I have the entire original Teen Titans series on DVD, and I usually bring some of them with me whenever I babysit. The kids I babysit are 5 and 7 years old, and they are absolutely in love with the original series. They still like Teen Titans Go, but Teen Titans original captures their attention a lot more and they really get involved with the episodes. Heck, every time their parents get home and I try to leave they beg me to stay so they can watch the next episode on the disk. This being said, I think that season 6 of Teen Titans or an awesome spin off series about the Titans East would have worked just as well as Teen Titans go, if not better. :)

Wanna hear something really stupid, today I took a look at what shows would be airing on cartoon network and when, here are the shows and the amount of times each episode of each different series is shown tomorrow on June 30th, here are the results. Steven Universe: 4 episodes Uncle Grandpa: 0 episodes Clarence: 4 Episodes Pokemon XY: 1 episode Sonic Boom: 0 episodes Regular Show: 4 episodes Gumball: 9 episodes Ninjago: 1 episode Teen Titans Go: 31 Episodes! Yeah, that's right, 31 episodes, and no this is not a marathon, this is just a normal day, oh and by the way this just happens to the same week that a new episode of TTG is made every day of the week, I think I figured out why this show is considered Cartoon Network's "New Favorite Show" it's not because our kids enjoy it, it's because they have no real choice, there parents just turn on the TV and just let their kids watch whatever horrible shit shows like this regurgitate on to the audience. That's why kids enjoy things like Breadwinners, that have horribly annoying, stupid, and unlikable characters with painfully unfunny jokes yet younger audiences don't have a more sophisticated grasp of comedy meaning they're actually entertained by that festering shit. But in my eyes TTG is worse because: 1. At least Breadwinners didn't have anything to ruin. 2. Breadwinners actually seems like they're kinda trying, whereas here they literally stated they don't really care. And not only were they given a third season they are just about to have a 100th episode special, yeah, 100 episodes of pure, unfiltered, shit. I'm not sorry.

The biggest rebuttal that I get when people try to defend this show and other shows like this is that "it's a kid's show." I have many things I can rant about this statement and how that is a giant fallacy, but I'll get to my main point on it. It doesn't matter if it's for kids or adults, there needs to be some sort of quality control on what is shown to both kids and adults. These articles show what the mentality is of a person who doesn't care and just wants to make a quick buck. There is no real effort, no real talent, and no real thought being put into this show. And saying that it can get away with it because it's a kid's show is BULL. You know what else is a kid's show? Steven Universe. It has a huge adult fanbase growing because of how well written the story is and how likable and relatable all the characters are. And do I need to mention the show that my profile pic is from? My biggest problem with the show is how mean spirited it is. In almost EVERY episode somebody is being outcast and ridiculed. Whether it's Robin for wanting everyone to ACTUALLY work hard and train, or Beast Boy for being gross or stupid, there's always 1 titan against the others. They always seem to advertise them all as being "Best Friends" or "Family" when in the actual show they rarely ever act friendly. They act more like they hate each other.

cartoonswim I think what mainly distinguishes Spongebob between Teen Titans Go is effort. While Spongebob may sometimes be awful you can tell they're trying hard a majority of the time, when they aren't it's usually due to Nickelodeon's heavy demand of episodes. Teen Titans Go is absolutely lazy, the writers don't care about how bad their show is and they let the fans know that they don't care, while Spongebob may often provide questionable ideas of what character to root for they at least try. Not to mention they can pull out a good episode every now and then. You can plainly see that Teen Titans Go! is leeching off of the original show. Heck, even the original was leeching off of the Filmation series by using the same team-up from that show, but improving on it. If they really wanted to make Teen Titans Go an original interpretation, they should have used the lineup that they had in the comics at the time: Red Robin, Kid Flash, Superboy, Wonder Girl, Skitter, and Bunker. Also, Bunker holds the record as being the first gay member of the Teen Titans.

Great video. I agree wholeheartedly with you on this. I also liked that disclaimer at the beginning. Yes TTG is bad, but fans of the show or the people behind the show don't deserve to be attacked. The people behind TTG just need to get a better understanding of why people dislike their show. As for TTG fans, people have their own tastes, and TTG fans are no exception.

When I first saw commercials for this, I actually was pissed off. The original show was one of the first shows (along with Avatar) that had story arcs that I made sure to watch every week. A little while after it premiered, I watched a few episodes, and actually thought it was descent. In fact when everyone else was bashing it, I was one of the people saying, "come on guys, it's not that bad." I stopped watching for a few months, saw a few newer episodes and saw how bad it had become. I still say the first half of the first season, isn't that bad. Afterward it became a show that encompasses everything I hate. Meanspirited, bad morals, over the top with little substance, and actually kind of bitter. Like they are bitter towards the fans who like the original show. I will give the show a couple of things. One, it is fast paced, a lot of shows I hate are really slow, this at least has energy. And two, it made me want to go back and rewatch the original show, so I bought them all, and remembered how great it was.

Out of curiosity, I watched the 100th TTG episode. It was basically a normal episode. Though if there is one thing I have to give it credit for, its the fact that it has an actual moment of silence. That silence was actually a plot point in the episode, but its nice that we get silence in contrast to the loudness and obnoxiousness of the rest of the show.

I honestly hate Teen Titans Go!. There were such great seasons and heroes will work together with an interesting backstory and now they turned themselves into lazy, and make themselves look bad. I am going to start a survey on all the young kids I know and see whether like the show or not. I plan on emailing the Warner Brothers to bring back the original series. I agree, I wouldn't mind the show if they did not use the Teen Titans. They [teen titans] have the potential to be even more than what they are in that show. I honestly despise that show with a burning passion.

It's pretty astounding when a producer/creator of a show outright states that the reason the show has a lot of stupid writing, stupid stories and stupid characters is because the show itself is stupid and is mainly for kids. They admitted their huge mistake in believing that because it's mainly a kids show, they can make it as dumbed-down, cheap and infantile as they want it to be. That isn't a show that'll last beyond its lifetime, beloved by many of the fans many years later. That's a show that a lot of its fans will outgrow, and it'll soon be lost and forgotten as a failed project of its time.

That "Stealing" bit really grabbed me as an artist. One of my art professors once told me that I should always look for things that I like in art, steal them, and make them my own. He wasn't saying "Plagiarize!" He was saying that you should find what works in other people's work, break it down, and then rebuild it with your own twist. Is this real life? Those interviews sound like parodies that TTG haters would write by trying to make fun of the mentality of the staff behind the show! I guess it makes sense considering everything TTG has spewed out, but I'm seriously amazed that a creator could have such indifference towards what they're creating. At least they're honest about making a low-effort show to pander to kids, and they're doing quite well with the show, so good for them I guess. I just think kids deserve better (although comedy is very subjective, so if this show's "stupid" humor appeals to them, then that's perfectly fine). I'm sorry if I'm coming across as rude. What I hear in those interviews is "It's a show for kids, and kids like stupid, so we make stupid content to please the kids." But I gotta say, even though I was only able to get the tail-end of the original show's run, I absolutely loved Teen Titans when I was little - I watched it religiously from the ages 5 to 8, even though I didn't even get all of the jokes when I was little. The 'kids only like stupid stuff' mentality really bothers me because of that.

I just saw a commercial regarding TTG's 100th episode. CN will show all TTG episodes to celebrate. Great, as if TTG isn't overplayed enough. Also, I don't recall CN doing this for their other shows that reached 100 episodes. CN once again treats TTG like it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Those interviews honestly explain a lot about why TTG is the way it is. I think it's pretty obvious they don't understand the differences between critics who have legitimately given it a chance and found it lacking and the hordes who hate it because it's not the same. Stupidity is not something to aspire to! That was what ultimately made me start resenting the show, the ignorance worship is just so bizarre and infuriating. Just... really? Books can be dangerous? Smart people are bummers? Clever wordplay is a no-no when writing the scripts? I can't even think of words to convey how terrible this is. And hiding behind the 'kids show' excuse for making it stupid? No! That's worse! This is the kind of show that kids will grow up saying they liked as kids but admit was really bad or doesn't hold up. Hopefully surrounding it with actual good shows like Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Amazing World of Gumball and even shows I don't care for personally like UG and Clarence will mitigate just how much kids take away from this one bafflingly terrible show.

All the other CN characters from the other shows on the network see this and are fed up with how the Titans are taking up their stage so they all unify and kill the Titans. You wanna know a show that's similar to Teen Titans Go!, yet manages to do Go!'s shtick way better? Mighty Magiswords. It's nothing spectacular or groundbreaking (from the shorts and the first few episodes, it's merely decent). But even then, it still does what Go! is trying to do way better.
