Being 70 getting those tweeters ear level and angled in my small man cave is a challenge. American home are built different than in GB. Lots of problems with room vibration, oh well. Yeah, budget doesn't necessarily mean cheap, good vids keep rocking.

Funny one this, some times if I am listening and doing other stuff at the same time then for me no it makes no differnce. However there are times i want to just sit and immerse my self in a few albums and sound stage is everything. Also I think if you have a few songs you know really well, like for me if I make any changes to my system I will always play Hotel California because if anything is a miss I will spot it especially sound stage wise. As long as you enjoy your music thats the main thing.

With an awkward shaped room I listen off center and its the sound tone accuracy, detail that counts for me. I wonder how many people have the perfect place

You can have good sound staging when you're off-centre with the right set of speakers, Michael. Canon did some lovely speakers in the 90s that diffused the treble using curved external baffles: the S-30, S-35 and S-50. They look like a cross between Darth Vader's helmet and the xenomorph from the Alien movies, but they do a pretty good job of creating a very wide sweet spot. I've got a pair of S-35s and I see they're creeping up in price online, but the others can still be had for well under £100.

I did have a pair of those Canon speakers many moons ago with my Dolby Surround Yamaha amp cant remember what which ones. i used them as surrounds which they did a great job, I never tried them as main speakers, I should have given them a try.

I have massive vintage Heathkit Alnico 3 ways (picked up for £20 a few years ago) in a small room driven by my old quad 303/33 but tbh I’m usually in the room next door or the kitchen ….I rarely get time to sit down in front of them. Still fills the house with a nice warm sound which works for me.

I very rarely sit in the sweat spot, normally to one side in the corner as you say Mike the soundstage would not be that important to me there. But the overall sound would....
