Edit: I've since swapped over to the OP1 8k, everything I said about the shape still applies but it addresses basically all my issues with the OP1 as well as feeling insanely smooth to use in game. The cable is incredible and I honestly don't notice it at all and they have leaned further into the mouse's modability. also, finally added subtitles, sry for taking so long to

Unironically this, funny enough I’ve been playing with a g600 for years now just because of not wanting to switch to another mouse when playing shooters instead of mmos. It’s just so comfy for me & recently has helped me greatly with finding a new gaming mouse because I haven’t been playing mmos as much. Shape is my main thing to recommend to friends wondering how to get better ❤

Lovely review! Enjoying the editing, camera shots and narration, they've improved so much! And of course, the review itself is amazing. I don't know any mouse reviewer who is as articulate and detailed as you (the dynamic clicking difficulty and modding mentions were really cool), and how you incorporate all of that into the "bigger picture" or an important concept in your past few videos is really well done. Satisfying seeing your progression of mouse reviews beyond just quality but also understanding.

Wow, what an insanely good video. Very interesting and also distinct editing model, very well scripted, and I loved the shape comparisons. You basically explained what I always thought about shape downsizes. While I absolutely agree with everything about the OP1we, and that it's not really an expensive mouse, I think the chinese mouse market has definitely made me more picky about the prices overall. But what really kept me away from it in the first place was the heavy clicks, and also the fact that both the mouse and the taobao hotswap switch PCB would be hard to obtain where I live. Keep posting more stuff!

Many people are still confused why I choose to run the GPX, which has fallen considerably behind in terms of specs compared to newer mice coming out. But somehow because of its shape perfectly fitting me, I just can't use any other mice to get even close to my performance on the GPX.

Definitely a well thought-out/put together video. The more mice I have gotten over the years (30+) the more I have actually confirmed the generally held idea you mentioned that shape really is king. Even subtle differences in the shape of a mouse can have larger impacts on feel and in-game performance for me than mild tech boosts like motion latency discrepancies of 1-4ms or 8k polling rate. Weight is important to me as well, but even then an excellent 52g shape (X2H mini) feels better in real world use than a so-so 38g shape (UltralightX). Considering giving this a try even with that slightly higher weight
@ViscoseOCE
@ViscoseOCE Жыл бұрын
if the weight is as important to u as it is to me, its pretty easy to get down into the low 50s! i took out the battery holder and left it resting on the pcb and shaved a bit off the side walls and its almost there already! there is a lot more u can do as well but i havent tried yet, wanted to keep the mouse looking stock for the vid haha

I own both op1 8k and x2h mini. I prefer the op18k because of the flatter sides it has. Plus the back hump isn't too bulby compared to x2h mini. The clicks also are better on the OP18k. They're both about the same size.

As a fingertip gamer, shape being the most important factor is more obvious then ever. With a market that mainly caters towards claw and palm grip, the few fingertip grip mice that i can get my hands on make a HUGE difference in my aim and control. The larger the mouse, the harder it is to be precise and move around the mouse with just fingertips. Its just a shame fingertip mice usually are limited runs or have smaller stock than other mainstream mice. 😢 Awesome video and glad you found your ideal mouse shape!

For me it’s shape>coating>clicks>weight>specs. I used to be big on weight and specs but I realized it honestly doesn’t matter much for my performance. I honestly prefer a mouse thats 65-75g but if the mice is any lower I don’t mind at all and I don’t feel like I can feel much of a difference. But I did realize if I’m playing with a mouse with a bad coating I do a whole lot worse because I’m constantly focusing on how slippery the mouse feels in my hand.
@ViscoseOCE

im curious if you've tried grip tape, a part of how i valued each component was how hard the downsides to offset through modding and coating is something thats not too hard to fix in that regard.

@@ViscoseOCE That’s valid and I think that’s the best way to categorize it because I’d say 90% of the people here are more mouse enthusiasts. But to answer your question I have used grip tape before and I actually enjoyed them when they were new but after a couple months I’d have to replace them and I got tired of buying grips constantly. I love Vaxee’s and endgame gears coating and luckily they have my favorite shapes in the OP1WE and Np01s.

Loved the thorough review! I feel like one thing to note with shape is also that it doesn't necessarily need to be comfortable, but rather needs to enhance your aiming. At least from my personal experience and with others, when using say the g203 most didn't find it comfortable yet it was much better for aiming than a mouse shape that was comfortable. Ideally, you would want obviously a mouse that has a good balance in comfortability and enhancing your aim, but it seems quite rare to find something like that.
@ViscoseOCE
@ViscoseOCE Жыл бұрын
i think i partially agree with this, but for me comfort and how well i aim tend to overlap since with a mouse that fits my hand well i can play for much longer without any fatigue or stuff like that, which lets me practice more and maintain good performance for longer. i also have to pay pretty close attention to my hand health long term so comfort is like double important for me haha

I think we've hit the point where we don't have to worry about specs that much. There are pros out there that still run their mouse at 500hz still crushing the competition despite 4Khz existing. Shape is far more important simply for the ergonomics. I personally use the Model D Pro from Glorious . It might be huge compared to other mice, but it fits my hand like a glove and I have yet to find another brand that offers the same shape at that size aside from Razer with the V3 pro.

I've tried the op1we in a shop, and I did enjoy the shape and noticed a lot of time went into it. If it wasn't for the grip width being too thin for me (causes cramps for me since I can't relax and palm it after extended periods of claw), I'd probably have carried it out the store that day. Instead, I decided on either the Lethal LA-1 (Haus described as a wider Op1we) or a vxe R1 Ultra (based on eloshapes outlines, which aren't the best.). Great video though! I've definitely felt the same way as well.

I've got a VXE R1 pro max here to test the shape firsthand and it's sooo close to being what I want, the side taper from top-down is just a bit too aggressive for me, if anyone has both a la-1 and an r1 and can help me compare the two, that'd be awesome, thanks.
@waterbottler2761

Update: the r1 is placing too much stress on my wrist tendons since the hump angles my wrist too much, that cancels out LA-1 then, looking for mice with lower hump heights or further forward humps, more length wouldn't hurt too.

Tried it and didnt like the shape. My claw grip is unusual. Most people extend their ring finger and curl their thumb. I do the exact opposite, my thumb is farther forward than my ring finger. The only two shapes ive found good for me so far have been the MM712 and the Haste 2 mini. You might like the Haste 2 mini. You said the the Starlight was a bit too short. The Haste 2 mini is a tad longer. It does feel a little dense at 59g for its size, though. My grip definitely favors shorter mice. I have a Beast X mini on the way, hoping I wont find it too narrow. If I do, I will try the Darmoshark M2 whenever it comes out. The width of the M2 will be closer to the width of the Finalmouse small.

totally agree about shape with being weight is also important but not as much as shape. there is one unheard issue in general i am facing is postioning of sitting and handeling keyboard and mouse. sometime i keep keyboard close to me then while playing it goes away and i completely stretch my hand , and constantly changing chair height continue to find right one, it is giving me some weird annoying feeling and hand fatigue that i close games because this is impacting my gameplay like movement, aim etc, i really would appreciate if someday you can share about the overall posture and positioning of your hand for MnK , chair monitor distance, what you feel is comfortable. A lot of mice flare out at the front these days, like everyone copy the fk series. And that was my main problem after trying over 15 mice and everyone caused some discomfort/pain. OP1we is my number #1 till today, the best thing being no front flares. Finally someone noticed that when We bring our fingers together the pinky sits further out than ring finger. I was worried about back hump but it is very small and doesn't bother me that much. Also I kind of disagree with RJN theory as thinner grip width is not only better for aim but also more comfortable. Thats the reason while I still use OP1we over Maya which is simply too wide.

Great video, just missed the part where the op1 has a way better sensor position, that goes exactly in line with thumb in the middle of both of the side buttons, making it so you dont have to overgrip the mouse forward to press, the most forward side button. Thus making it perfect to control. On a side note, from what I've seen from other people's research, like rocketjumpninja on his latest video, is if the mouse feels too light, you might wanna try a new combination of mousepad and/or feet, like in your case when you press the clicks it seems like you have 2 options, 1 modify the mousepad/feet or 2 modify the clicks so they are lighter. If you go mousepad/feet you want a control mousepad with like some Tiger Arcs One and maybe an Artisan mousepad like the Hayate Otsu with focus on stopping power. Hope it helps to shed some light in what is the most recent discoveries about aim
@ViscoseOCE
@ViscoseOCE Жыл бұрын
i was considering talking about sensor position actually! I think its very important as well but its a conversation that requires a lot of groundwork to properly discuss, there is a lot that goes into how sensor position interacts with aim and it would have probably taken over a minute to lay all that context out since people arent as familiar with the feature as they are with things like weight or tech. its def something i want to discuss though, im thinking about making a full video about it but yea theres a lot to discuss and i do want to consolidate my own ideas on the topic a bit first. as for the mousepad thing, tbh the zero soft is about as slow as I can go these days haha, which is what I was using in that valorant clip. id have to go so slow to make up for the heavy clicks that i'd be making too many sacrifices to make it worth it, easier for me to just swap em out c:

Maaan. I went form Skoll Mini to the Deathadder v3(try something larger again), then to the lamzu thorn. After some months i tried the Skoll Mini again, and after 2 days i was right back to the natural flicks and kills i was used to. Idk if its the shape, the weight (only 5g difference), the feet or what. But it just works insanely well. I wanna try the op18k tho ^^. But this video is really well done and makes sense to me ^^

Hi Viscose, i dont buy many mouses but i'm on the look out for a new one. I have some what medium large 20x10 i use claw and fingertip grips. I was wondering on you're input for a new mouse... Either the ATK F1 Extreme 35g or the op1k 8k? Both have different shapes. Would love if i could get your input! And btw you're a beast on the mouse nice skills

I think that the sensor placement also helps with stability. I tried using the HTX for a month and felt that my aim still wasn't as good as when I was using my Starlight-12. Then I noticed that the sensor on the HTX was placed higher compared to other mice. When I went back to my S12, everything felt way snappier and responsive. I know some people say that a higher sensor placement is better, but I think it's whatever you're use too. I mained the MM711 for a while and it had a low sensor placement.

i thought about mentioning that in this vid as well since I do agree that its pretty important to aiming, but for that conversation id probably have to lay an extra mins worth of context and groundwork to properly explore that topic and it wouldn't have flowed too well with the vid overall. might put it on the ideas list tho haha, its something id love to consolidate my ideas about and make a video on just as its own topic

i jumped a lot in mice till i find out that smaller was better for me, and i tried a couple different mices and the one thats better for me rn is the atlantis mini pro, it has all the top tier tech with a really good shape and construction, of course i was after a good shape first, so i tried a lot of cheap china mice just to test shapes and find out the atlantis mini, and it worked for me, I recommend people to just test shapes first to find what they really want or need and then tri to find a good mice with that shape and aimtraining games are not everything, i was way better on aimlabs with my older xd3 (S2 shape) than with the lamzu but in competitive games im way better with the lamzu, what you said about the mobility trade with stability is so fking true, so for the people out there, just geta good shape then find or mod a good mice with that shape im no god at gaming but i can keep radiant on val for a hole act so im not bad i guess

I do wonder why EGG chose the current switch in the first place, couldn't they have gone with the lighter Kailh GO 60-65g instead? (Or release a diff version of the op1we with the lighter switches, name it like op1we L/LE or something)

These days it's pretty normal for reviewers to be doubting "shape is king". I mean, even RJN isn't as strict on that anymore. But I guess I'm just too set in my ways to accept what they say. And trying shapes was my original reason I got into mice. Shape is the first deciding factor in my book. If the mouse manages to clear the bar to be a well performing mouse (which has been low for years), shape makes or breaks everything for me.
@mmhoss

imo shape is king.. only if all mice you're comparing are within your optimal weight range. My ergo is a solid 12 grams heavier than the small uncomfortable ambi I picked up. My aim has improved considerably on the ambi, particularly on tracking direction changes

i think i had similar issue to you about weight, but it wasnt 40 -> 60 but 70 -> 90, i swapped xm1r to my old rival310 due to worn off skates and i was scared it might hurt my mousepad, and weight feels bad. I mean i have to tense so much causing me to be shaky asf, and grip itself dont feel good yet, ofc cause of how heavy it is, i'm experimencing some pain in my hand after long gaming session. Anyways good video, i think as well shape matters the most, i cannot find comfortable grip on 310 cause of how large this mouse is.

For me the OP1we would be perfect if it was 50grams or less and the back hump was 35/36mm in height or placed more to the middle. But i also have very small hand size of 16x10 ish. So for me the G-Wolves HTX feels better. I will probable be trying out a WLmouse Beast, they just announced a mini version at 116x58x35mm at 34grams.

Great review.. have you tried the mz1? I have fairly large hands and I started my mouse journey with model o (too long and flat at the time for me and I didn’t enjoy palm contact) gpx (didn’t enjoy the potato shape and got used to the lower button height from the model o) orochi v2 ( loved the length, button height but the curve on the right side didn’t leave a good space to anchor my bent pink, also didn’t enjoy the clicks) mz1 (felt most intuitive shape wise to date except can’t get past the cable and the right click will pinch my ring finger at times and it became annoying. So I modified it by removing all the rgb, removing the light defuser and cutting back the right click. This made less space on the right side so I had t add a ledge with stiff grip tape which was fine but led to a less then premium feel.. I haven’t invested into a wireless mz1 because I will still have the same issue with the overhanging clicks..) then I went to a g303 SE (which taught me to be ok with palm contact and I spent the most second most time on it) vaxee Xe (too wide feeling don’t like the fact that if you put too much pressure into the main clicks they feel grindy slowly got used to the width over time but can’t get past the habit of over putting too much pressure into the m1 m2 and coming from the g303 mz1 which both have exceptional clicks I can’t get it out of my head) za13c (almost perfect shape and performance, still can’t get past the cable and if the main clicks were more flat or even had a comfort groove it would be ideal) np01s (I love the width and I can see the potential in the shape.. just too small for my specific grip exchanged it for outset ax bc I got a creaky copy I could see where the full size np01 might have been a better fit but I wanted to try the ax since it had soo much praise and the button height compared to the rear hump of the NP line is too flat for my taste) current mouse and grip experiment vaxee outset ax I am going to put in time to try a straight pinky.. it feels good aim/stability wise. The ax isn’t overly wide for me like the Xe and it’s short enough that it doesn’t fill up the base of my palm which I like.. I think long term it will be good.. all of this leads to my ideal mouse would be a sub 60gram wireless za13c. And the only other mice in currently interested in now are small narrow mice for fingertip/relaxed claw grip.. I like the support to come from the underside of my knuckles more so towards the pinky knuckle so I have stability when I press the side buttons and the flexibility to do most of the movements and aiming with my fingers… I think the op1we and the pulsar x2h mini could be 2 good options. This is why I ask you if you tried the mz1. Great review everything you said makes sense.. Cheers

i have tried the mz1! and honestly did not like it at all LOL, the side profile doesnt vibe with where i position my fingers. that being said though, i did aim very well from it. one thing that might be worth noting is that my fav shape before this for both comfort and aiming was the za13-c, i only didn't main it because of the weight and the op1we was the first mouse to surpass it shape wise for me

it is, its battlefield v! if your in a region more populated than mine i recommend it highly. and yea it can be negated by higher sens but that comes with its own downsides, I think its better to look at mousepads since the mousepad surface and weight directly change the same thing (friction)
