To answer your question, the last time a Synchro was an Ulti in a Tournament Pack was back in 2015, Trishula in Astral Pack 8, which was just before the rebrand to OTS packs.

The Meta going so fast is cool. However it has made me hesitant to rejoin locals, i have decks but no top tier ones so i feel ill just be behind and stomped at locals by decks worth 1k , so that is one downside to the meta moving fast is wreaks havoc on card prices.

@@threeinitiates8260 vanquish soul came out within the last year, so it's not old in the sense of the tcg, and it just got support in the last core set AGOV, but also, konami usually uses one of the ulti slots for an archetype specific card, and being that vanquish soul is really popular and a really solid midrange deck that ALSO got the full CR treatment in its set release, bumping rock to a high rarity was anticipated so it matched the rest of the deck! :D
