Geographically, the existence of Pakistan as two separate territories divided by hundreds of miles is absurd. No way would this arrangement last, even with the most generous fulfilment of Bengali autonomy.

In 1956(new constitution) and in 1970 both times Bengalis tried to negotiate for autonomy rather than full independence. There was a growing separatist movement as time went on but even Mujib tried to do negotiations right up until 25 March,1971. So ultimately this wasn't possible since West Pakistanis were fearful of losing their influence over East Pakistan as a whole. There are even conspiracies Bhutto actually wanted the East to be gone, since under a pure democracy it would be the East who would have more power every single time.

Pakistan just needed resources of Bangladesh and not Bengali people. I even hear Pakistanis say ‘Bangladesh would be a military base for us if we didn’t lose it’ and it pisses me off when I hear them say that shit. Bengal is not yours, and not India’s. Sorry, sir. Bengal IS India's territory. We have treated Bengalis with respect. Bengalis are integral to India. Maybe not Pakistan, but definitely, India. Bengali people in India fought for the independence of our country, gave India its national anthem and Bengalis are, for all practical purposes, Indians who clearly understand India as a united entity and know the potential of the country which they do focus on.

One peculiar fact is that while the operation searchlight was instigated against the Bangladesh movement as a whole, the Bengali Hindus were specifically targeted. Pakistan's imams declared Bengali Hindu women to be "war booty"; and Pakistani fatwa were issued legitimizing Bengali Hindu women as spoils of war. Women who were targeted often died in Pakistani captivity or committed suicide, while others fled to India.

Total bullshit....the truth is that.... THE THREE MILLION LIE Mujib was puzzled to be addressed as "your excellency" by Mr Panth. He was surprised, almost shocked, when I explained to him that Bangladesh had been liberated and he was elected president in his absence. Apparently he arrived in London under the impression that East Pakistanis had been granted the full regional autonomy for which he had been campaigning. During the day I and others gave him the full picture of the war. I explained that no accurate figure of the casualties was available but our estimate, based on information from various sources, was that up to "three lakh" (300,000) died in the conflict. To my surprise and horror he told David Frost later that "three millions of my people" were killed by the Pakistanis. Whether he mistranslated "lakh" as "million" or his confused state of mind was responsible I don't know, but many Bangladeshis still believe a figure of three million is unrealistic and incredible. Serajur Rahman Retired deputy head, BBC Bengali Service The entire allegation of genocide and the figure of three million is central to the whole argument. I think we should discuss this first in detail and see if you accept or reject this before we move onto the 300'000 killed. This figure of 3 million has been questioned by many others such as the daily New Age editor Nurul Kabir, the New Age special correspondent British journalist David Bergman , Social media activist Dr Mina Farah, and many BNP leaders such as Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Nilufar Chowdhury Moni and Fahima Nasrin Munni, among others. The question of the story of 3m goes back to Gen Yahya Khan, President of Pakistan (1969-1971), who is said to have wanted to kill that many, according to Robert Payne, author of Massacre: The Tragedy of Bangladesh and the Phenomenon of Mass Slaughter (Macmillan, 1973). Sheikh Mujib’s interview with the then BBC journalist Sir David Frost on 8 January 1972 is where the mix up between 3 lakh (300'000) and 3 million is mentioned. In his excellent 2017 article, “Myth of 3m killed & 200,000 raped in 1971,” Dr Junaid Ahmad contends: “The repeated claims of 3 million killed and the rape of 200,000 Bengali women were stopped after a tripartite agreement between Pakistan, India and Bangladesh in April 1974. During the regimes of General Zia, General Husain, Mohammad Ershad and later Khaleda Zia, the Bangladesh government was more pragmatic and made friendly overtures to Pakistan. However, the present government of Hasina Wajid of Awami League continues to use this exaggerated lie of 3 million killed to hatemonger if not to evoke the baser emotions of its electorate to cultivate support and also to court favors from India. Even basic arithmetic, which seems to be beyond the grasp of the Bangladeshi establishment, shows the unabashed absurdity of the 3 million killed and 200,000 women raped myths. To illustrate, perhaps at the expense of disgusting my readers, the Army action in East Pakistan started on 26 March and lasted till 16th December, 1971 - a total of 262 days. This implies that about 11,450 Bengalis would need to have been picked-up, killed and buried every day. When compared to the 2nd World War for instance, the 6 million Jews killed by Nazi Germany in 6 years comes to only 2,740 killed every day - markedly less. Both the figures of the daily killings are fantastically preposterous and defy common sense.” Upon his return to the newly independent Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujib reportedly ordered a 12-member committee, on January 29, 1972, to find out the exact number of the dead. After nearly completing the work two years later, the commission came up with a number in the neighborhood of 58,000 to 65,000. The commission’s work, however, did not proceed for reasons unknown and mysterious. According to Zoglul Husain of the UK, “Around 1972-73, the Bangladesh Red Cross Secretary (of which Gazi Golam Mostafa was Chairman) was given the assignment by Mujib to study the number of death in 1971. After about 9 months of study, when three-quarters of Bangladesh was covered, they found about 60,000 dead. Mujib then asked them to stop counting and destroy the papers, and they did it accordingly. Since then, no survey was done.” Former KGB agent Yuri Bezmenov explains how the Bangladesh war was engineered by India and Russia kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3rXYq2Xp66BrJIsi=M5eh-1gTC_CMpum- Watch from 1:01:19 If for some reason the links don't work you can Google "Mujib's confusion on Bangladeshi deaths" and you should come to a load of websites and articles on the issue. www.eurasiareview.com/05022020-bangladeshs-war-dead-the-controversy-of-3-lakh-300000-versus-30-lakh-3000000-3m-liberation-war-martyrs-oped/ www.thehindu.com/opinion/lead//article59782867.ece www.theguardian.com/world/2011/may/24/mujib-confusion-on-bangladeshi-deaths medium.com/@ancientpakistan/debunking-the-myths-of-1971-bangladesh-bd0f2829377d

Excellent video Untold story For over a hundred years, the Bengal Muslims fought for independence from British Raj. Other minority Muslim population in India could not achieve this for example, Kashmir, Gujarat or Hyderabad Muslims. Yet immediately, the East Bengal was handed to a cunning Punjabi overlords. Now the Bengal Muslims have a second hurdle, which they handled cunningly. 95%, of the fighting of the 71 war was done by Bengal fighters. But because the Pakistan Army (in the East) surrendered to the few Indian pioneer brigade, it gave the impression, that India 🇮🇳 defeated Pakistan 🇵🇰, which is false. Since independence, India 🇮🇳 has been a neighbour in ‘bad faith’, always trying to sabotage the process of Bangladesh 🇧🇩.

India should also impose an air, sea, road and rail blockade thus, denying any supplies to the kanglus out sufficiently enough so that they unalive themselves due to lack of food and other basic supplies before further encroaching and decolonising more areas of "Bangladesh" from them and then giving it to Bengali Hindus. Its true what Pakistanis (especially punjabis) did extreme racism and economically deprived us, around three lakh people died, but what sheikh mujib did after 71 far exceeded everything. 5 lacs of biharis were killed, their women were raped, their property confiscated, and mujib legalazied this with abandoned property act. Rampant corruption caused famine which led to the extermination of mujib in 75. The truth is that after 71 we became the colony of india befor that of punjabis and now of usa. The video isnt even 30% about India, so I'd suggest changing the title to "How Bangladesh got Independence from Pakistan". And a few points: 1 - Most razakars were Biharis, not Bengalis. 2 - Mukti bahini didn't lack leadership, they were led by Bengali army officers (Osmani, Khaled Mosharrof, Ziaur Rahman, etc). They lacked training, not leadership. 3 - You didnt mention that in the 1965 war the East Bengal Regiment was awarded the most gallantry awards but West Pakistani newspapers barely publicised or recognised this. 4 - India never won a war against Pakistan before this one which was with the support of Bengalis and they still cant take all of Kashmir from Pakistan.

All the development for West Pakistan were developed by East Pakistan's money. All the major export used to go from east side but the money used to go to west side. Whole Pakistan's 80% was reserved for west side and 20% for east side. During 1965, bengal regiment saved Lahore and a officer from bengal regiment known as Ziaur rahman ( he was the most finest and successful of Bangladesh), was in the kehm karan front and infiltrated almost 10-15 km inside indian punjab and stayed there for the rest of the war and no west Pakistan soldier dared to enter india during that war.... Basically Pakistan treated east side as their colony and wanted to impose their own culture on Bengali people. But wish Pakistan bright future ❤

Punjabis were racist, but their racism is quite less now than it used to be. Mainly because of the breaking away of bangladesh. Many people think that bangladesh broke away for good. It was just that the manner in which this happened is wrong. Pakistan should have given bangladesh autonomy the movement mujib gained a majority. Regarding the language issue, the bengali language should have been arabized and it's script changed from sanskrit to Arabic and then made a national language apart from urdu. This would have strengthned the bond between the 2 nations even if bangladesh would have lived Separately. The problem is that leaders in pakistan were high on the opium of secularism and western values esp that idi0t ayub khan and Yahya being the pro max version of ayub. 1971 made pakistan realize that in order to keep the nation together it was necessary to use Islam as the glue to bind the nation together. Hense a new constitution was drafted with Islam as the state religion.

Bengali cannot and should not be arabized, it's origins lies in Sanskrit and is a form of prakrit, is a sister language of maithili I believe that is in its own way unique and should be kept as such, arabization would mean distortion of the language and also that it would cause further resentment amongst people. As it has also led the ethnic languages and infact scripts to fade away Besides the structure of Bengali language is radically different and therefore arabization without significant changes to Bengali language is nearly impossible As Arabic is Semitic language and Bengali indo Aryan Which would further make things weirder and uncanny in the longer run Another pertinent difference in my observation would be that arabization of so many different countries in Africa and middle East has led to native languages on the brink of extinction

@@dreamerachiever576 I wonder that. You should visit central asia. Before their accession to the russian empire they all had arabic script in their languages like the Tajik, Kazakh, Uzbek etc... but the Russians changed their script to Cyrillic and it made the civilizational relations between these two spheres to form. Rn those countries can't decouple from the Russians. Infact they are happily and prospersusly living with this system.

I believe invasion is one reason for this influence in central Asia But also Bengal too was invaded So let's rule out this possibility Bengali is first radically different from its much compatible indic languages such as Hindi. The lack of retroflex sounds make it more unique as retroflex sounds exist in Hindi and sanskrit but not in Bengali And I think to prove its incompatibility it's not there in Arabic either way Bengali is not even compatible to devanagiri script, let alone arabic script

@@HashiramaSenyu also for turkic languages being compatible with Arabic script You might have noticed that turkic languages have pharyngealized sounds or guttural sounds, quite similar to Arabic that's in my observation is one of the reason why it's arabization was much more easier and people never found it repulsive
