Absolutely. By being less of a delusional idealist and more of a realist. By listening to the pleas of his people when he had the chance, particularly in regards to their call for democracy. By proving to his people that he was no tyrant. By listening to his advisors instead of assuming he knows better than everyone else. The Shah *genuinely* believed he was appointed by God himself to make Iran great again-this was the root of all his mistakes.

Khomeini didn't hijack anything, unfortunately most of our people at the time approved of the theocratic dictatorship he created. In March 1979, the referendum that gave people the choices of yes or no to "Islamic republic" had a turn out of 98% where almost everyone voted yes. Later in the autumn, the referendum for the constitution of the Islamic republic which added the theocratic elements and the position of supreme leader had a turn out of around 80%, many parties boycotted the referendum, including the nationalist and liberal parties, Marxists (withe exception of the Tudeh), the MEK and Kurdish parties and yet still the turn out was very high with almost all of them voting yes. I think this is the best indication that the various secularist forces were just a minority who had illusions of their popularity and thus didn't see the actual beliefs of the people.

@@Trump2024asw I A faith based socio-political movement is trash unless it has a firm separation of church and state. Though one based on any religion but Islam is probably better than the Islamic ones since no religion is a political as Islam. Gandhi with all his flaws, is a good example of a movement with faith at its core that can be a force for good. For Iran modern history I suggest books from Ervand Abrahamian , I have recently finnish his "A History of Modern Iran", minus the last parts of the final chapter that were about the Islamic republic in the 90s and 2000s, the rest of it pretty good. Also, I think I didn't make it clear in my comment, though I believe our people chose Khomeini and his regime back then and the revolution wasn't hijacked, I hate them for it and I believe that generation who chose the Islamic republic is the worst thing that has happened to Iran since the Mongol invasion, perhaps, even worse.

They are hyper smart - anybody with a cursory understand of Iranian/Persian history knows that. Their achievements could fill up 10 encyclopedias. As the recent CIA leaks showed, Persians have IQ that is off the charts, bolstered by their STEM rankings and their global success in and out of Iran. It's an ancient civilization as everyone knows, with the most cunning rational actors I've personally ever seen. Totally cold-blooded. I find the Persians are 2 steps ahead of the others. Yet another comical and incorrect statement. IQ tests where? Administered 100 years ago in Yemen and extrapolated to include Iran? Iranians have an average IQ (absurd number) of 84 based on Richard Lynn's preposterous and incorrect table ~100 years ago. Instead, look at this interesting data below from the American Census (available on Wikipedia as well): One in four Iranian-Americans holds a master's or doctoral degree, the highest rate among 67 ethnic groups studied. They have 21.5% business ownership rate. One in three Iranian American households has annual incomes of more than $100K compared to one in five for the overall U.S. population. 50 percent are in professional and managerial occupations, greater than any other group in the United States. Somehow they make a huge jump after moving to the US, especially in educational attainment and occupation. What makes it more interesting is that their first generation moved to the US during a mass immigration from Iran to the US in 1979. The same trend is true for Iranians immigrated to Australia. This is quite puzzling because for other countries, the level of success still lines up to a great extent after immigration. IQ tests in the Iranian American Diaspora show at least an average IQ of over 110. Among the highest in the world. That is simply insane. Nobody has that kind of flex (or a female winner of the Fields Medal in Mathematics either btw). Educate yourself. Being good at Math and Science like Iranians is rare. Ali Javan is generational. Maryam Mirzakhani is generational. Having a civilization with countless achievements like Iran/Persia is rare. Bottom line? Iran runs West Asia. Always has, always will. It's their region. They are the natural leaders. Israelis, Turks and Arabs need to accept it and move on.@BB-xx3dv

The vast majority still support their government as seen in the millions strong demonstrations on the anniversary of the revolution around the country, and the millions strong funeral of IRGC commander Qassem Soleimani more recently. The monarchy was brutal against it's own people. No one wants that kind of progress. Now Iran in the post shah era, despite the brutal American sanctions aiming to deprive its people of food, medicine, and technological advancement, has used the opportunity to become independent of the west thanks to the great leadership of Imam Khomeini and Khamenei. Since the Shah's regime fell, women's education has skyrocketed, the wealth gap has reduced, the medical and technological advances are uncanny, and of course the defence sector is strong. Iran is now making friends with non-Imperialist countries and the western countries will be left behind after the BRICS is set up. On top of all this, despite the western media and sectarian propaganda, the vast majority of Iranians support their government as can be seen in the millions that turn out every year to demonstrate for the anniversary of the revolution, and the millions who attended assassinated IRGC commander's funeral, amongst other obvious indicators. Heck, even the voter turnout during the 1979 March and December referendums that Imam Khomeini (r) held to ensure that the public really wanted and Islamic government are a feat of democracy that western so called democracies could only dream of - and confirm that this is what the Shi'a majority people of Iran want (Hikama conveniently left that out of this video to paint his narrative over the actual will of the Iranian people). The recent riots are carried out with western influence on a minority of the youth, and these individuals are bloodthirsty, killing civilians and police. Whatever Shah's reign was like, the Islamic Republic regime made Shah look like a legend! Shah is nowadays revered as a benevolent ruler who genuinely cared about the well-being of ordinary Iranians, unlike the Islamic Republic regime that prioritizes reckless ideological foreign policy goals over the daily lives of millions of Iranians. Iran is a bankrupt shithole now thanks to Ayatollah Khomeini and his successor. Poverty, unemployment, and inflation are over the roof while hope is nonexistent!

You are blaming Iran for American brutal sanctions that target the Iranian people? Do you always attack the victims? Iran, despite the brutal American sanctions aiming to deprive its people of food, medicine, and technological advancement, has used the opportunity to become independent of the west thanks to the great leadership of Imam Khomeini and Khamenei. Since the Shah's regime fell, women's education has skyrocketed, the wealth gap has reduced, the medical and technological advances are uncanny. This war was provoked by NATO extreme expansionism and war mongering. Lockheed and the other arms companies were lobbying the head of NATO hard for this bloodshed. Not really, this anti-Khomeini narrative he has painted is not in line with what the Iranian people actually feel. They are by and large supportive of their government as can be seen in the millions that turn out every year to demonstrate for the anniversary of the revolution, and the millions who attended assassinated IRGC commander's funeral, amongst other obvious indicators. Heck, even the voter turnout during the 1979 March and December referendums that Imam Khomeini (r) held to ensure that the public really wanted and Islamic government are a feat of democracy that western so called democracies could only dream of - and confirm that this is what the Shi'a majority people of Iran want (Hikama conveniently left that out of this video to paint his narrative over the actual will of the Iranian people and portray Imam Khomeini the great Islamic scholar as a power hungry individual). I think this portrayal is either rooted in over consumption of western anti-Iranian propaganda, or with sectarian undertones. Either way, don't be fooled. This was indeed a Godly revolution, with much sacrifice of the Iranian people, that brought Islamic law back into a colonised country, and then subsequently began supporting the oppressed in Palestine and Yemen and Lebanon to wrest control of the region back from the western invaders

Those in support of an Islamic Government were the "majority" and judging back in time. It has benefitted the Islamic World. In the sense that, it gave them a reminder of how a nation can prosper and develop all the while, withholding their Islamic governing system. Iran's rate of expansion has undoubtedly been hindered by the constant threat of being militarily confronted. As a result, Iran has had no choice but to increase spending on their defense budget rather than provide It's citizens with more social services. The westernized population will always think the grass on the other side of the fence is greener but in reality, there aren't that many shortcomings for a nation under constant threat. Moving forward, it would be nice to see ties between Iran and the rest of the Islamic world, strengthen and for other countries to use Iran as a role model.

At the same time as aligning with the West, he is still using repressive tactics, torture squads and controlling the media🤷🏿 no elections, no opposition. He creates a Nuclear plant where there is no need for one to appease the West, throws a Diddy party and doesn't invite his own people & thinks that an annual stroll to the Mecca will take care of the religious side of his country...just blunder after blunder in naive ruling that shows how sheltered he was as a youngster. I feel sorry for Iran. There were problems before 1979 but they had a great opportunity to bring their country to modernity, to prosperity. But islam took over and it is a backward, obscurantist ideology that destoys freedom everywhere it goes. Islam has nothing to do with the historical Persian soul. Islam came to Persia by violent conquest. Persia was one of the most brilliant empires in history with a very spiritual religion that I truly admire, Zoroastrianism...Eveything was destroyed by Islam and Persia became just a simple Muslim province, but these people submissively surrendered to islam. Absurd! Pity!
@MrZZooh7 ай бұрын
Islam was never the problem nor will ending it as the state religion fix anything. It's the Mullahs and the folks that use religion to advance an agenda. Also Persia wasn't exactly violently conquered by Arabs. Some of it was voluntary believe it or not. The zoroastrain priests had a hierarchy, much like today's clerics in Iran, and that oligarchy alienated the masses and they found Islam's message of equality appealing even if they had just been defeated and humiliated by an army out of the deserts of Arabia. Be open to history and things you find unpleasant, otherwise, you're no different than the people you're looking down on.

@@MrZZooh Islam is a problem everywhere and it spread by the sword, by conquering violently and not by "having a message of equality", as you say. Islam is a political religion, that is why Muslim countries don't even know what separation between religion and politics is, and they can put you in jail for personal reasons: adultery, apostasy, blasphemy, eating during ramadan, etc. False, Arabs conquered and persecuted Zoroastrians until they were exterminated because islam's message does not touch the heart of people, it can only be imposed by war. I don't know where you get that false information from. The only surviving Zoroastrians survived because they took refuge in India. "Islam message of equality"? LAUGH! What are you talking about? There is no equality in Islam and you have as many rich as you have poor people in the Muslim world and your prophet had privileges that other Muslims couldn't have: to have more wives, Quran 33:50, 33:52, he took one fifth of the booty, like a bandit, 8:1, 8:41....... Iran's role in the history of Islam was extremely important in all aspects. The so-called Greater Iran was the cultural, religious, economic and military heart of the Islamic world for centuriesand when I say the Islamic world I mean the Sunnis since Iran was mostly Sunni from the time Islam entered it until the 16th century AD and most of Muslims were and are Sunnis , but the Mongol invasion and especially Iran's conversion to Shiism changed everything As for the current Iranian mullahs' regime, it is built on a Shiite doctrine that say that the jurists are the representatives of the Mahdi in power as long as he is absent, so they possess all his absolute authority, and the mullahs’ regime was tolerated by the West despite the problems it causes to the West because the West knows that a fanatical Shiite regime will cause the Islamic world, which is mostly Sunni, more problems than it causes to the West, All the West does with the Iranian regime is to protect itself from its threats but without overthrowing it, because the extremist Shiite Iranian regime is an effective weapon against Muslims

I am an Iranian and This clip unfortunately is full of mistakes. you only refer to the iceberg but not all the things that need to be mentioned in order to understand why a certain thing was happening. for example, when you talk about Reza Shah’s hijab ban you call his opponents “traditionalists” which is not true. His Majesty’s opponents were Islamists, not traditionalists. The hijab is an Arabic tradition not Iranian and the Pahlavi dynasty is known to “Iranize” or “Persianize” a nation that has forgotten its true identity and culture thanks to 1400 years of Islam domination on our country. traditionalists were actually the supporters of Reza Shah and those nationalist intellectuals like Mohammad Ali Fouroghi who were advising him and they were the ones who planned the whole doctrine of Pahlavi policies. when you come to Mossadegh you make the same error. there was no coup in 1953. we need to look at 1953 outside of the myth and fake news bubble. what you to know is that first Mossadegh was not democratically elected, second, according to the Iranian constitution of the time, the abolition of the parliament by the prime minister would give the power to the king to dismiss the prime minister. mossadegh knew such a rule existed since his advisor Dr. Sadighi warned him about it but Mossadegh said “Shah does not have the courage to do it”. he was wrong, shah told him to leave the office but he refused to obey his constitutional order and brought the country into a political disaster. same thing about Savak. building Savak was not wrong since every country has a secret service. Savak only arrested communist guerillas who were doing terrorist acts, not normal Iranian citizens. and just like any other secret service yes it did torture some of them when it was needed and it was the right thing to do. but you guys call it a bad thing because when a not-yet progressive country starts to have or do the same things that for example, UK or America has or does. suddenly we become the bad guys! this colonized look toward the Middle East must end. I’m not gonna talk more but just for you, I suggest you read the book The Fall Of Heaven by Andrew Scott Cooper to understand better than Shah Of Iran.
