How INSANE is Shadow Priest in Season of Discovery?

So Shadow Priest is the second class I've leveled to 40 in season of discovery but quickly became my favorite class. After having fun in gnomeregan and stranglethorn vale here's why

Even with a nerf it would not affect the viability cause priests will not be the only ones that get nerfed and the point with SOD its fun and make every classes viable if its possible. Even tho they will not top the meters it will still be viable and fun to play.

I think this SoD is a totally new thing for Blizzard as well. The Max level was 60 all along and they could balance everything at 60. But now, they need to balance the progression levels as well. It feels like seeing some twink toons at those low level battlegrounds.

SP is reall strong RN. I just dont like the Mindspike "spam" focus. MF has been my favourite spell in the game ever since i started as SP in TBC and beyond. I always liked the DoT management etc. SW:D is also way too strong RN. It should get a ~20% nerf imo. I just hope we will eventually go back to more of a DoT or MF focused Spec later on. SoD definetely put SP more in the Spotlight in "classic", it is most definetely enjoyable RN but not really where i wanted them to go.

You’ll still need 1 at least in seems in gnomer. Tons of damage going out and a good dedicated healer can beat any shadow priest.

you want a healer for tank damage. unless you have 4 shadow priests in the tank group they're not going to keep your tank alive on the last boss, even then probably not

Is shadow quite gear dependant? I have pretty good gear do the same rotations as I’ve seen but only get to about 250dps on bosses, never getting close to over 300 (Maybe I just suck)

100%. DP is real real bad at this level. It's never particularly strong esp with its cd. it's more of a pvp ability

You mean Shadowguard? The troll priest spell. I prefer Devouring Plague more for class identity reasons, but it's good for PVP. Shadowguard is all around better though.

@@zacharyshort384 No I did not consider Shadowguard cuz its not something u have control on. U need to take hit for it to deal any dmg, and on some fights it's useless. So I only compared Berserking of trolls with DP of undeads. I think these both have the same CD, however, like Pants said, DP at this lvl is weak. and I don't think even at lvl 60, it would get better than berserking for PVE dps. So troll will have the best dps output overall. Plus, if what Blizz said early on about priests being able to learn other race's special abilities, then trolls will be able to learn DP, while undeads won't learn berserking as its not a priest racial, its just a troll racial.

@@albeshino8875 IF they follow through with that ;) They have already broken promises with SoD. Shadowguard is widely recognized as the strongest of the race specific priest spells in classic. A big part of the reason is that the damage can proc Blackout for even more stuns. DP was pretty solid in classic. Particularly for PVP. Probably better at 60 when we are not pausing like we are with weird spell rankings in SoD phases. Trolls have the best racials, so you're not wrong going that direction. Especially with PVE in mind.

can go wherever you want . blackout is good for pvp and spirit tap is good for dungeons/pvp if you can snipe killing blows. i'm going to put out a guide in the next few days talking about talents and gearing and everything else

No it is not, otherwise hunter, shaman, mage, rogue and druid are overpowered too. Warrior and paladin can be crazy aswell especially in team settings. Warlock is just spread damage, otherwise anyone can burst down anyone.

Warlock is spread damage with what? Affliction dots tickle. All dots combined are something like 100dps lol. Drain Life is 50%+ of your damage with Master Channeler.

spriest DoTs tick way harder than lock DoTs. I went full affl with full shadow sp. My haunt, life drain, curse of agony, corruption, and siphon life combined did about 60 to 70% the dps a spriest's void plague and shadow word pain could do combined. He was healing a lot more than I was as well. Destro lock was able to keep up in pve, but it's not viable in pvp. Spriest is just the one caster choice all around this phase.
