What addon are you using for floating combat text ? It shows up in a different position for you than mine does and it makes things easier to see. Mines just default and comes from my character.

Dots haven’t changed at all. The stats on your character when you cast them is what they have for the full duration, except for dots that get refreshed through other spells

Nice guide as always. Btw I do not think we still need FQ WA after this change, for chaining MF just recast it between 2nd and 3rd tick and it will carry over no?

no you still want it. only casting MF -> MF is fixed with this. But mind flay into any other spell is when you want to have FQ

Actually 3. Keep swp on two of them to refresh orbs, mb to refresh empowered shadows, and sear like crazy

The shadow priest discord has a fix for Quartz pinned in the addons and weakauras channel. If you want to use quartz then go there and download the pinned file

Any good WA suggestions when to refresh the last dot? general rule of thumb to me has been under 3 seconds but maybe im clipping when i shouldnt. Also, you taught me today Flay has finally been fixed. When did they fix it?

@@kimandersen6174Let’s say mind flay has 10 ticks per channel. If you break your channel at 9 ticks, the 10th tick will be transferred to your next mind flay, giving it 11 ticks. This only works on the final tick and it also applies with your DoT’s. It is a passive called “Pandemic”

Agree with you on the shadow orbs. It feels great when I wait 12 seconds at the start of the fight to get a single orb so I can finally do full dmg, and there is nothing I can do about that rng. Wish the chance to get an orb from MF/SW:P would increase with mastery.

In t13 4p your apparitions and shadowfiend will gen 3 orbs with each hit so there is no waiting anymore but sadly it is so late into the content

Wait, have I been misunderstanding pandemic this whole time? I thought your next tick, regardless if it’s the last tick or not, gets added to the beginning of the refreshed dot.

Yeah I think a tick gets added regardless but the point is to time it in the last tick so you don’t lose damage. I.e if VT has 5 ticks and you cut off the last tick then you have a 4 tick VT and a 6 tick VT. But if you cast your second VT before the 4th tick in the first cast then you have a 3 tick VT and a 6 tick VT so you lose a tick of damage in your casts. The point is to maximize your damage by never losing a tick

hmmm, I'm guessing shadow orb # 2 and 3 do not increase damage as i thought it did. I was thinking you get to 3 shadows orbs, mind blast and update dots.

It'll only increase the dmg of the next mindblast with more orbs, but the periodic dmg increase is the same.

So here is why classic shadow abd many other such builds like boomkin suck ass: Our basic toolkit is very much incomplete. When we get to choose between a single target and a multi target active rune ability, a warrior for example already has the basic sibnle target AND multi target ability. Does anyone ask the warriors: Do you want heroic strike or cleave as your rage dump? No. Shadowpriest should have gotten at least mindspike and mindsear as baseline or rather core abilities in a fashion of the book for shadow fiend from Scarlet Monastery. Then and ONLY then can this sorry state be fixed. Warriors get runes that change how existing abilities from their core toolkit work. Gladiator stance, devastate, bloodsurge, precise timing, etc. Those are great. Runes should for the most part change interactions with existing core abilities, allow you to empower a certain aspect or focus on a niche, not add quasi mandatory core abilities that a specc becomes practically unplayable without. Thats my 5 pence.
