There are a small hand full of players that have stat-lines that are so unique, you can't confuse them with anyone else. Rickey Henderson might be the king of that but Marshall's career is right there with him with regard to unique numbers. Fantastic look into a lesser known legend!

Huge anomalies are one of the most interesting things about baseball to me - Ron Hunt with hit by pitches is another fun one. Glad you enjoyed!

In a six-game stretch in the 1974 season he either saved or won every game.

To me, what makes baseball great is not the superstars. It's the unsung heroes that don't get the fame. Slightly reminiscent of David and Goliath. Mike Marshall, with a losing record, was of tremendous importance to many during his career.

When I started playing amateur baseball at age 44, I emailed Mike Marshall looking for pitching advice and he sent me an E-Book and told me to learn to pronate every pitch to protect my arm. I also emailed Lindy McDaniel for advice and he told me to use the slider often against batters that crowd the plate and to throw the forkball down in the zone.

Please do more what-if videos! :) Here’s an idea: What if the Pirates never traded Jose Bautista to the Blue Jays?
