Costco buys in bulk so they can get huge discounts on all the units they purchase, you bought that PC for under 900.00, they most likely only paid around 550-625 for it. When I was managing for Walmart, department managers had some leeway in where we got our new products and restocks. I was responsible for the Garden Center and Foods. The prices that I got were dependent upon the amount of units I was willing to commit to selling. I was shaving hundreds off the cost of most of the Troy-built riding mowers that I was ordering (Provided that I was asking for minimum of 10). Don't get me started on food items, most everything I ordered was 50 cents to the dollar. Everything went fine as long as you were moving units, if not, it was game over for you. Keep in mind that this was close to 30 years ago; however, I imagine the game is still being played.

I won't criticize that PC too much. Some of the parts were good and cable mgmt was excellent. I will disagree with using the PSU it came with. That is not a very good PSU, and when I build my system, I would definitely upgrade it. I prefer EVGA, Superflower and Cooler Master PSUs. Apevia are known to break and be very loud. The motherboard rear IO is really sparse looking with only 4 USB A ports and 1 USB C. Six to 8 USB ports are pretty standard. The other issue is, if you upgrade the motherboard and PSU, the excellent cable management goes to waste.

@jonrogers799520 сағат бұрын
@@flerbus What?, Bro, Costco’s business model primarily relies on profits from memberships, not large markups on the products they sell. It’s common knowledge that they often sell items close to cost to provide value for their members. If you’re rebuilding this spec-for-spec, the retail cost of the parts will easily exceed $950, as the video has pointed out. Buying parts individually always costs more than mass production or bulk purchasing, which is how Costco can offer such competitive pricing. The $650 you’re quoting may reflect what Costco negotiated as a wholesale cost, not what an individual could realistically achieve building it on their own. This isn’t about ‘rocket science,’ it’s about basic supply chain dynamics and Costco’s pricing strategy.
