cambodians treat thais better in in cambodia than vice versa. khmers get discriminated in thailand and looked down upon. this has been happening for centuries. asians tend to be hierarchal and pick on the guy lower on the totem pole. we won't be below them much longer. anyone that has been around cambodians know that we have the right mentality and drive to uplift our country. it was only because of the war set us back and only ended in 1999.

The last time I was in Cambodia was in 2002 and the Sorya shopping center just opened in Phnom Penh. I think it was the first mall/building in the country with escalators. When I went there for the grand opening all of the locals that were there had no idea what an escalator was and how to use them. What a weird site it was. There was also only a handful of traffic lights in the entire city and garbage piled up everywhere. Now PP looks like any other city in SE Asia.

Chai, I’m Cambodian living in the US; just wanted to say I enjoyed your show very much. The reason why Thailand is full of negative towards Cambodia is its history, rivalry and egotistical. History: as a refugee during the KR, Thais military mistreated a lot of refugees; rivalry & egotistical: Thailand never been colonized by outsider, so it’s their right to be prideful about its history. Most Thais who said Cambodia is not good to visit is they never step foot in Cambodia.
@pinyo1977 Жыл бұрын
Because Cambodian people create many lies and distortions. Cambodia violates every Thai copyright, whether it's music, food, drama, or even Thai culture, costumes, or even Muay Thai. Kunkhmer asked ifma (International Federation of Muaythai Associations) for permission to use the rules of Muay Thai in the SEA Games. But when it comes to the Cambodian SEA Games, disqualify Muay Thai and change the name to use the word Kunkhmare instead of Muay Thai. Plus an announcement impersonating to create fake news telling Kunkhmare the original Muay Thai Thai people don't need to go to Cambodia, nowadays Thai people even want to expel Cambodian people. came to live in Thailand, escaped into the city illegally, became a beggar and many criminals in Thailand Cambodian people come to Thailand to take video clips claiming many ancient sites in Thailand, telling them that this place once belonged to Cambodia. Thailand used to help provide refuge to Cambodians and give them the opportunity to work in Thailand. But the Cambodian people have always repaid Thailand by creating distorted news and always thinking badly of the Thai people. Including the burning of the Thai embassy and trampling on the portrait of the Thai king. If you follow the social network, you will see the people of your country distorting the history almost everything, lying everything to slander Thailand.
@pinyo1977 Жыл бұрын
On the burning of the Thai embassy by creating lies accusing Thai stars of insulting Cambodian people to this day, there has never been evidence where Thai celebrities speak insulting Cambodians. Hun Sen distorts his own people because elections are imminent. And the problem that occurred during this time as well, many stories spread fake news accusing Thai people of creating fake news to deceive their own people.

A pretty horrible place is Phnom Penh, particularly for people who like to explore the heart of a city on foot. @@Chai_Travel Points taken. I had a nightmare trying to navigate round the streets there on foot. Many of these streets were without sidewalks, or if they did have one, it was so cluttered that you were continually forced onto the road. Norodom Boulevard is an exception to this as is the riverside esplanade, the latter usually being dark with foot traffic. Yep, the tuk-tuk taxistas are always way over pestering. The only problem with Cambodia is people willing to pay double for a car export from other country which result in a bad investment. Such as some car like Ford mustang 2018 only cost around 15k in USA but after it import into Cambodia, the car price sky rocket into 35k and peoole are willing to buy it as well. That is such a big problem in Cambodia right now. I hope Cambodia will follow the European and Japanese when it comes to hatchback car with reasonable price so we can finally focus on what truly matters.
@Chai_Travel Жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure that there are bigger issues than that 😅 but that’s for the info about the import cost of cars.

@walsakaluk4630 Жыл бұрын
Well, a car is not an investment it's a liability regardless of it's cost or location. As for the cost, the import tax regime is public information so you can choose to spend or not. This is not unique to Cambodia.

@@walsakaluk4630 What unique in Cambodia is people are so poor but willing to borrow money from the bank to pay for a car that is overpriced with insane interest rate. That is one of the factors why Cambodians are still poor, we become so matatrialistic.

Where does the Khmer come from? For good understanding, I would like to present a fact that many people do not want to accept. We apologize here. This is something that Western historians have never researched or discussed. Calling the ancient Khom (Varman), the creator of Angkor Wat, as "Khmer" is absolutely incorrect. Because ancient Khom lost its name when the Khmer people (Mr. Sweet Melon) the slave leader who led the rebellion killed some of his masters and became king. For a long time, it was absurd to take over the temple city of Khmer slaves who could not find any reason and result at all to deceive each other in order to dispel the fact that they were the bloodline of slaves and the Khmer people could not give any reasonable answer. This is not possible at all. - Why did slaves become kings? - Why did the Khom dynasty disappear from history? Why did Lavo, the creator of Ayothaya, who was a relative or ally of Nakhon Wat, who had never fought a war, the slave rebelled and killed Khom Woraman Lavo, Ayothaya immediately raised an army to attack Nakhon Wat. After the slavery a man called Mr. Sweet Melon became king, and Nakhon Wat progressed to collapse. Then the Khmer people could not build or repair the stone castle again. Culture declined and compared to the contemporary kingdom after Nakhon Wat "Ayothaya and the neighborhood" and Ayothaya has great buildings with high art. Each neighborhood is almost no different from the forest people hiding in a bamboo fence without any buildings comparable to Nakhon Wat. For hundreds of years, the Khmer people have been weak and defeated.

What changed In Phnom Penh? Large area developed into a Gambling area/village, by Chinese. Backpacker area "Lakeside" practically gone. Lake filled in and built on. Phnom Penh is a cool City. The only problem is the lack of decent quality Budget accommodation/ Dorms.

If you get time Silk Island is a good day, hand woven scarfs from their own silk worms.

That is actually a lie. My buddy has been living in Phnom Penh since the early 2000's with his Cambodian wife. She said that their silk wheels are stored and covered in dust. She said they actually buy the scarfs from China.

@mylifethaid, when I was there 2016-2018 I saw the process from cocoon to the weavers and actual scarf making, didn't look Chinese to us.

There are a few vlogs on the Silk Island community weaving and hand making their silk products.

The reason why Thais are not happy with Cambodians these days because a lot of Cambodians accused Thailand of stealing their culture and Cambodians have the right to claim and use Thai costumes, culture, and everything. By the way, Thailand had control over Cambodia for hundreds of years and have been helping them financially until now in form of scholarships, financial aids, know-how, etc.

Came to Cambodia to build houses? So Cambodians are incapable of building houses? Wow - sad.

are you getting paid by thai companies? lol you were so afraid to step on any toes.. not even wanting James the interviewee to have his opinion about Khmer people being a "little" more laid back... which isn't even a controversial statement...
